Picture your yoga practice amid rustling palm trees, crashing surf, and masses of exotic flowers. It’s waiting for you at Via Yoga, our intimate week-long yoga retreats where both your desire for balance and your lust for adventure will find a home.
Nestled on the warm waters of the Pacific, in the colorful village of Sayulita, Via Yoga vacations are for people of all levels with an interest in healthy living and a curiosity about life. Each day begins with a yoga class overlooking the beach, and unfolds however you would like. Choose from a host of activities, from surfing to kayaking to exploring the sights and sounds of Sayulita. And when you’re ready to relax, there’s no better place than Villa Amor—a luxurious seaside resort with open, airy guestrooms, fine dining and spectacular views.
Come with your partner, your friends or by yourself and make new friends and memories. We look forward to sharing the week with you.
Yoga is a journey of self-discovery that begins with stillness. Stillness allows us to take stock of our lives and to explore where we are and what needs changing. Yet, in our fast paced society, the opportunity for stillness is increasingly rare.
A Via Yoga vacation gives you the freedom to find stillness in your life and begin a yoga practice that reaches far beyond the mat. During your week with us, you'll develop an understanding of how your practice translates to your daily life, enriching your relationships, interactions and everyday experiences. You'll discover that no matter where you are from moment to moment-on the beach in Mexico, at the office, or at home with your kids-you'll reap the benefits of a Via Yoga experience.
On our retreats, there are two yoga classes each day. Our instructors are all highly experienced (some with national reputations) and bring their own unique backgrounds and focus to their classes. Their job is to support and enhance each student's practice, but ultimately the journey is up to you.
At Via Yoga, we emphasize strength, flexibility and balance in the mind and body to allow total personal development.
Via Yoga vacations are unique experiences from week to week. Each retreat has a different focus, both in terms of its philosophical topic and level of difficulty. Please consult the dates & programs below to find the week that's best for you.

Programs & Dates subject to change
Via Yoga’s season runs from November to early June, to take advantage of the best surf and to avoid the rainy summers of the Pacific Coast of Mexico. We limit the number of guests at each retreat so we can give you the highest level of attention. Since our retreats often sell out early, please make your reservation as far in advance as possible, especially if you are coming with a group or prefer specific accommodations.

with Susan Merrill
Yoga & Surfing
Susan’s yoga classes will restore your sense of vitality, encouraging you to work at your edge while respecting your limitations. She encourages laughter as a way to start the day and your morning practice will focus primarily on Vinyasa (flowing through postures). In the early afternoons, you’ll learn to surf under the close supervision of our surf instructors. These hour-long lessons are tailored to your skill level, so you can catch a wave with confidence on a soft-top board. And in the evenings, your yoga sessions will be quieter, restoring a sense of center after your active day with an emphasis on deep stretching and relaxation. Susan’s goal for this week is that you not only gain a new level of expertise that enhances your practice when you return home, but also to make sure you have a great time and a memorable vacation.

with Alisa Wyatt
Pilates & Surfing
There’s a reason top athletes and celebrities credit Pilates for keeping their skills honed and bellies toned—it works! Don’t miss this opportunity to train with Pilates expert, Alisa Wyatt, at this groundbreaking Pilates and Surfing retreat.
Pilates is well-loved for the core-power and lean, catlike control that it develops, and what better skills to have when learning to surf? Alisa’s energetic classes are taught with a fresh, fun, creative bend and it’s her goal that what you gain doing Pilates translates to your everyday life. Morning sessions (all levels welcome!) will fire up your center and give you the courage to hop on a surfboard and have a blast your first time out. After fun in the sun, surf lessons and relaxing, your day ends with a meditative stretch session that promises to soothe the psyche and lengthen sore muscles.
Is one of your New Year’s resolutions always about getting in shape? Escape the darkest days of winter, shed those holiday pounds and come home with a glow—it’s the ultimate recover-from-the-holidays vacation!
January 24-28, 2008 (4 night retreat)

Between classes you’ll have time to relax on the beach, shop in town, unwind in your beautiful villa, get a spa treatment—whatever makes your vacation feel complete. Transformation guaranteed.

This special offering by Mitchel is for the seasoned yogin ready to explore a full spectrum of poses. Over the course of the 4 days, every kind of pose will be attempted. The combination of deep meditations, intense asana, and fully relaxing sun and Sayulita guarantee this to be a very special 4-days. Pre-requisites: students must be able to kick up into a handstand on their own (needing a wall is fine), perform urdhva dhanurasana in the middle of the room with no help, and be able to do headstand in the middle of the room. No limiting injuries please.

with Tracy Rezinkoff, Mitchel Bleier & Donna Jackson
Anusara Vinyasa
Join Tracy and Donna (from Saraswati’s Yoga Joint, Fairfield County, Connecticut) and special guest Mitchel Bleier for six days of deeply intelligent, sweetly playful vinyasa yoga. Our morning practices have a vigorous, up-tempo flow to challenge, awaken and inspire. These one-and-a-half hour asana "wake-up" calls are a refreshing asana experience appropriate for all levels. We balance it all out with a pre-sunset restorative practice where we serve it up "sukha" sweet—with an emphasis on long, slow, deep stretches including hip openings, seated forward bends and twists. Each evening will be a perfect finish to your day in paradise.
March 14-20, 2008

Each day we’ll enjoy the perfect blend of Vinyasa flow yoga, meditation, pranayama, surfing and relaxing. Lauren will encourage all students to practice at their own level and will provide support for beginners as well as challenges for the more advanced. And if you’re a first time surfer, no problem. Our professional instructors will guide you all the way. And together we will tap into our fluid power, learn to go with the flow, relax and enjoy the ride! It will be a fun, exhilarating and serene week.
