On Thursday, September 25th, Bliss owner, Rebecca D’Este, sponsored a fundraiser in support of Corazon de Nina.

This non-profit society, founded by Melissa Canez and Juan Meza, is dedicated to providing a safe, loving home environment for girls rescued from high risk situations including abuse, abandonment and human trafficking. They are rapidly growing and continue to be the only government approved home for teenage girls in the entire Bahia de Banderas area covering two states (Jalisco and Nayarit).  With tourism as the main industry in the area, child exploitation and prostitution are rampant, causing government agencies and individuals to look to them for assistance. Three years ago, they opened their hearts and their home to help break a terrible cycle and reclaim childhoods. All of the girls attend school, English classes, counseling, and participate in cooking and housework.

This well attended Bliss event featured delicious cocktails, games, a silent auction and raffle items donated from local Sayulita businesses. The proceeds will go towards purchasing art supplies for the girls at Corazon de Nina for a very special project. Each girl will be creating a painting around the theme of hearts. Bliss will have these paintings on display from November 1-19.

On November 20th, the second phase of this project will occur, which will feature a champagne cocktail party and a silent auction of the girls’ paintings as well as donations from local businesses. In addition, Rebecca will have a heart with each child’s name posted along with an individual wish list of wants and needs, as this event will be held just prior to the holidays. Community support and participation is encouraged and very much appreciated. Please open your heart and help support such an important and valuable organization.

If you would like to make a donation, please contact Rebecca at Bliss.
