When one walks into Hotel Las Graditas in Sayulita, remnants of the bar that once stood there still remain, adding charm and history to the space.  A quick glance up in the lobby reveal two mosaic stained glass chandeliers, housed in a wooden frame, with a single bulb inside each one. The word, Bar, can be seen spelled out on the glass.

Jose de Jesus Bautista Sevilla, originally from Leon, Guanajuato, moved to Sayulita in 1987, and purchased the property that he would later transform into the 30-room hotel it is now. Originally Jose built a home for his family on the property. “I first started coming to Sayulita because I thought it was a pretty place to vacation. I built the house, where our family still lives, so that our family had a place to stay when they visited,” shared Jose.

In 1997, Jose first started constructing the hotel around his home, which is now a 30-room hotel, and is both family-owned and operated. “My grandfather saw a vision of the future, with Sayulita growing as a vacation spot,” shared Fabian Alejandro Morales Bautista, Jose’s grandson, who works at the hotel.

This family owned and operated six-floor hotel was built little by little, with three bungalows constructed just last year on the third floor. Between the 30 rooms, including bungalows with kitchens, and one casa for rent, Hotel Las Graditas has the capacity to house 80 guests.

The casa, situated on the 5th floor, has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a kitchen, and can sleep up to eight guests. A dining table sits on the front porch, offering a beautiful ocean view. This gorgeous view can also be seen from the 3rd, 4th and 6th floors.

Most of the rooms have air conditioning, as well as televisions. The rooms all have hot water, are clean, and are perfect for budget-conscious travelers. There is Wi-Fi access available in the lobby, and kitchens on the 1st and 2nd floors that are available for guests to use. A solar heated swimming pool is on the 4th floor.

"Hotel las Graditas offers the perfect location for our guests to relax, while enjoying a beautiful ocean view. We have a friendly staff and go out of our way to make sure that our customers are happy. We want our guests to feel at home here,” shared David Zaldivar Fernandez, the son-in-law of Jose, who also works at the hotel.
