Happy March! Spring is right around the corner, and for many, healthy eating challenges such as, “Meatless March” are underway. We thought we would up the ante and search for Sayulita’s top vegan and veggie burgers - challenge accepted! It didn’t take long to hear about Su Casa's outstanding vegan burger, which is rightfully named, “Better than a Big Mac Burger”.

Immediately when you step into the open air restaurant you feel like you’re at your best friend’s house. This restaurant has Sayulita written all over it. Everyone seems to know one another, the bartenders and staff are happy to sit down with you and have a conversation, and the menu alone would make you want to come back for more. The beach vibes of Sayulita meets five-star service in a laid back atmosphere at Su Casa. This restaurant is truly a family-run business with owners Roman and Tyco Huska and their cousin are all about good vibes, amazing, fresh, local ingredients, jammin’ music, organic craft cocktails, and high quality service.

The menu at Su Casa represents flavors and ingredients from all over the globe. Experimental flavors, savory dishes, and best of all, plenty of options for vegans, vegetarians, and those following a gluten-free diet. The “Better than a Big Mac Burger” is seriously a labor of love. Chef and co- owner Tyco Huska spent 2 years perfecting the recipe. When moving to Sayulita, Huska found himself with an exciting challenge to work with his original recipe adding local, Mexican ingredients and spices. Everything on the plate is made from scratch; from the bun, down to the sweet dill vinaigrette (a family recipe). The burger patty is comprised of shredded beets, carrots, a variety of nuts, spices, dried cranberries, apricots, dates and raisins, along with a few other secret ingredients. Now, before you start thinking to yourself that this list of ingredients sounds more like rabbit food than a burger, you’re just going to have to take our word for it. You seriously forget you’re missing the meat when you’re enjoying this delicious burger. For the vegetarians that eat dairy, be sure to ask for a thick slice of cheese… the flavor combo is simply amazing. Accompanied with the burger is a unique and light strawberry salad drizzled with a sweet dill vinaigrette.

For those who just absolutely love eating meat, Su Casa has you covered. Su Casa has brought to Sayulita a custom built smoker, adding dishes to their unique menu such as smoked ribs, BBQ pork, and more! As Sayulita grows, the demand for healthy and innovative dishes grows. This restaurant is a great, new addition to the village of Sayulita. Su Casa invites you to enjoy the ambiance, sip on an organic, craft cocktail, listen to talented, live artists and enjoy the savory dishes. The whole experience truly encompasses the vibe of Sayulita. Be sure to check in with your server or head chef, Tyco, and ask about what dishes cater to vegans or vegetarians.
