Spring is officially here in Sayulita and what better way to welcome the warmer weather than indulging in healthy, high vibrational, nutrient dense food? La Esperanza is a health food Café, Restaurant & Bar that creates conscious and nutritious food for the health of the Sayulita community. Green juices, powerful super food smoothies, organic salads and fresh, local fish… do we need to say more?

La Esperanza is located in a fantastic location at Calle Jose Mariscal No.12C, in centro, just half a block past the plaza. Once you enter La Esperanza, it’s as if you’ve found your own hideaway to chill out, sip on some delicious organic juices, or indulge in a delicious salad or fully loaded healthy tacos. For those looking for health-foodie heaven in Sayulita, this is the place! The restaurant has a handful of small tables outside for those who wish to soak up the sun, as well as a large communal table inside for large groups. Some of the best conversations happen here, as locals and visitors of Sayulita mingle and enjoy the food as plates come out of the kitchen. There are many gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options on the menu – just ask your server what they would recommend. The kitchen is always happy to accommodate anyone’s dietary restrictions. Owners Lucy and Jose also sell some of their healthy treats at the weekly Mercado del Pueblo in Sayulita every Friday, including their amazingly delicious raw cacao balls.

An extremely popular dish at La Esperanza is the quinoa salad. A hearty bed of mixed greens, roasted sweet potatoes and beets sit beneath baked plantains and sliced avocado with quinoa mixed throughout. Add a little extra protein with almond crusted white fish for a delicious balance. Although to many this dish doesn’t sound like it may pack a punch, we guarantee you will leave feeling full and satisfied for hours. If you plan to hit the waves for a morning of surfing or SUP, we highly suggest checking out La Esperanza’s healthy take on Mexican breakfast. You will be fueled and ready to take on the day without feeling too full. If you’re looking for a boost of superfoods, we highly recommend trying one of their detoxifying juices or plant based smoothies. Add to your morning drink an extra shot of fresh pressed, local Moringa – a superfood plant with 25 times more iron than spinach! La Esperanza is also the only restaurant in Sayulita to make their own Kombucha in house. Treat yourself to some delicious and healthy probiotics! We also suggest the turmeric iced tea- it’s addicting in the best way possible.

With such an array of options of healthy and organic meals, it’s hard to choose just one. For a relaxing atmosphere, fantastic food, great conversation, chill music, and organic juices and smoothies, La Esperanza is the perfect oasis to stray from the hustle and bustle of downtown Sayulita. The English translation of Esperanza is hope. As owner Lucy beautifully put it, “Hope for the future generations and hope for humanity. Esperanza was born from the love of food, community and wellbeing.” This is certainly evident from the love and soul enriching ingredients in every meal La Esperanza creates.
