You may either choose from Sofia’s menus which include traditional Mexican meals with a gourmet flair of  Italian, Moroccan, Indian, Vegetarian and Vegan, or work with Sofia to create your own personalized menu.

MEXICAN MENUS



MEXICAN MENU # 1: FISH

APPETIZER: TOASTED PUMPKIN SEED DIP WITH TORTILLA CHIPS; a Mayan appetizer typical from the Yucatán peninsula, made with roasted tomatoes and spices, a very interesting blend of flavors, definitely worth trying!

MAIN COURSE: FISH FILLET IN CILANTRO PESTO; catch of the day topped with a mild spicy cilantro pesto, topped with avocado slices.

SIDE DISHES: please choose 2 from the list below.

DESSERT: GUAVA CHEESECAKE; a creamy cheesecake made with an aromatic tropical exotic fruit on a homemade cookie crumb crust.

MEXICAN MENU # 2: CHICKEN

APPETIZER: TOMATILLO SALAD WITH TOSTADAS AND CREAM; a traditional Michoacan state dish, a nice fresh chopped salad served over Tostadas with cream.

MAIN COURSE: CHICKEN ENCHILADAS WITH MANGO SAUCE; off the beaten path enchiladas made with a unique sauce of Achiote (a Mayan spice), mango and other Mexican ingredients. They can be spicy or mild.

SIDE DISHES: please choose 2 from the list below.

DESSERT: CITRUS COCONUT CAKE; a moist cake in which orange, lime and coconut blend very nicely.

 

MENU #3 FISH AND /OR SHRIMP:

APPETIZER: CUCUMBER CUPS WITH SHRIMP SALAD; stuffed cucumber slices with Mediterranean and Mexican flavors.

MAIN COURSE; FISH AND/OR SHRIMP WITH GINGER-ORANGE SAUCE; fresh catch of the day served with a very delicate ginger citrus sauce.

SIDE DISHES: please choose 2 from the list below.

DESSERT: FLOURLESS TEQUILA-CHOCOLATE CAKE; a truffle-like cake infused with tequila, served with fresh strawberries.

MENU #4 BEEF:

APPETIZER: TROPICAL GUACAMOLE; an exotic version of the classic with chunks of fresh mango OR pineapple, served with tortilla chips.

MAIN COURSE: BEEF PICADILLO; ground beef stewed with vegetables, almonds and a kick of chipotle chili.

SIDE DISHES: please choose 2 from the list below.

DESSERT: ORANGE CREAM CHEESE FLAN; a mixture between a flan and a cheesecake served with fresh fruit OR chocolate sauce on top.

MENU #5 CHICKEN:

APPETIZER: SHRIMP PATÉ; a smooth shrimp spread jazzed up with Mexican flavors, served with crackers. This is a traditional dish of Nayarit state.

MAIN COURSE: GREEN CHICKEN MOLE; a very unique dish made with toasted pumpkin seeds, tomatillos and Mexican spices, highly recommended! If you are adventurous, the pumpkin seeds can be substituted with pistachio nuts.

SIDE DISHES: please choose 2 from the list below.

DESSERT: LIME-COCONUT FLAN; topped with caramel.

MENU #6 FISH:

APPETIZER: TOASTED SESAME BEAN DIP; a creamy dip made with beans and toasted sesame seeds, served with tortilla chips.

MAIN COURSE: PECAN CRUSTED MAHI MAHI WITH MANGO PICO DE GALLO; fresh fillets coated with a yummy pecan crust and topped with a spicy mango pico de gallo salsa (if mangos are not in season, pineapple will be used instead).

SIDE DISHES: please choose 2 from the list below.

DESSERT: BANANA-RUM BREAD PUDDING; made with fresh bananas, topped with a caramel sauce.

MENU #7 PORK:

APPETIZER: GUACAMOLE; prepared in my own style with some secret ingredients, served with tortilla chips.

MAIN COURSE: PORK IN ACHIOTE SAUCE; this is a classic Mayan dish from the Yucatán peninsula, baked marinated pork in a flavorful red tangy sauce, served with pickled red onions. Very good in tacos too!

SIDE DISHES: please choose 2 from the list below.

DESSERT: COFFE-CINNAMON FLAN; topped with a caramel sauce

MENU #8 FISH:

APPETIZER: CUCUMBER SLICES WITH SHRIMP SALAD; stuffed cucumber slices with Mediterranean and Mexican flavors.

MAIN COURSE: FISH IN JUNGLE SAUCE AND CORN GNOCCHI: fresh catch of the day cooked with a green sauce made with exotic Mexican herbs (one of them is called HOJA SANTA or “sacred herb”), topped with homemade corn dough gnocchi. Very unique!

SIDE DISHES: please choose 2 from the list below.

DESSERT: MEXICAN RICE PUDDING; very creamy, infused with vanilla and cinnamon.

 

MENU #9 VEGETARIAN:

APPETIZER: MEXICAN SALSA FRESCA; also known as pico de gallo, served with tortilla chips.

MAIN COURSE: CHILE RELLENO SOUFFLE; the light healthy version of the famous chile relleno. Worth trying!

SIDES: RICE SALAD; made with brown and wild rice and a nice light dressing. SAUTÉED BROCOLI; flavored with lime and toasted almonds.

DESSERT: KEY LIME PIE; topped with fresh strawberries and fresh mint.

MENU #10 SHRIMP ENCHILADAS:

APPETIZER: ROASTED PUMPKIN SEEDS DIP; a Mayan classic spiced with Habanero Chili. Served with corn chips.

MAIN COURSE: SHRIMP AND SPINACH ENCHILADAS WITH TOMATILLO SAUCE; spicy and tangy, topped with melted cheese.

SIDE DISHES: please choose 2 from the list below.

CHOCOLATE CAKE WITH MOLE FROSTING; served with vanilla sauce a delectable combination of flavors.

If you want to interchange any side dishes from any menu it is possible, as well as for desserts. If you have any other request please let me know and we can work it out.

REFRIED BEANS: Either black beans or regular pinto or another similar variety, mashed beans with olive oil, light and healthy.

WHOLE BEANS: Slow cooked beans in a nice stew.

DRUNKEN BEANS: Slow cooked beans in a beer stew served with chopped onion, cilantro and Serrano chili, if desired.

CHIPOTLE INFUSEDE BLACK BEANS

RICE: Mexican red rice with tomato sauce and chopped veggies.

WHITE RICE: with fresh herbs.

POBLANO RICE; a green colored rice with Poblano chilies, very tasty!

MASHED POTATOES

SALAD: Fresh greens and seasonal vegetables served with one of the following homemade dressings:

-Honey Mustard vinaigrette

-Lavender dressing

-Chipotle vinaigrette

-Italian herb infused oil vinaigrette

Give yourself a real treat!

Our family rented a house in Sayulita and it was wonderful to have Sofia and her assistant, Teresa, come to prepare gourmet meals for us and then do all of the cleanup! My family (sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins) relaxed and played music and enjoyed being together while she prepared our dinner. Sofia's food is delicious! Her pecan-crusted mahi mahi and citrus coconut cake were to die for! We also enjoyed chicken enchiladas (enough left over for the next day) and scrumptious key lime pie. Her appetizers were a big hit, too! Make it a real vacation by asking Sofia to cook for you! You will be glad you did.

A once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Sofia and her wonderful assistant Theresa arrived right on time with arms full of fresh, beautiful ingredients. For 2 hours they prepared exquisite food, and all the while Sofia chatted easily with us about what she was doing, but also about her experiences living & working in the region. She was delightful! But even that was nothing compared to the bliss of eating her food, or sipping on her incredible margaritas. She was happy to make sure I, as the only vegetarian in the group, had just as many luscious dishes as everyone else. Every bite was amazing, but her key lime pie was truly out of this world. I'll remember this meal as one of the top three I have EVER eaten!

Excellent food and service!!!!

We hired Sofia to cater our wedding in Sayulita and we were so thankful that we did. The food was amazing so many compliments from guests. Sofia went above and beyond our expectations helping us in every way she could arranging all sorts of different services. All of her workers were great and very professional, providing the best service and ensured that everything went smooth. Her prices are very fair and all of her food is made from scratch. We highly recommend that you take advantage of her excellent services, our wedding would not have been the same without her. Thanks so much Sofia.

Wonderful experience!

Sofia came to our rental casa outside of Sayulita and prepared a scrumptious meal, which included Mohitos, Marguaritas, appetizers, and an exquisite dinner for 8. She had multiple menu suggestions, which we decided on ahead of time....her flavorful dishes were beyond expectation. She served us out on our beachfront patio....timing between courses afforded us ample time to enjoy conversation without feeling rushed. Her gracious presence between the kitchen and patio was unintrusive, yet when we chatted with her she was friendly and informative.....the whole evening was memorable: charming hostess, awesome food with true Mexican flair, the best drinks, and a clean kitchen when all was done!

The best!

We just returned from a week in Sayulita and hired Sofia for two dinners and three breakfasts. Her meals were absolutely one of the highlights of our wonderful week. We chose from her menu for breakfasts but let her have free reign at dinner (including cocktails!) and she did not disappoint. Everything was so fresh and delicious, from appetizers to desert. She was easy to work with before arriving and quickly made herself at home in the kitchen so we could sit back and enjoy our vacation. Truly perfect.

Lovely service and an amazing menu

We have hired Sofia twice now to add to our Sayulita vacation experience. She arrived to our vacation casita with all smiles and quickly filled the house with delicious smells preparing a special dinner. The first dinner we had was the pecan encrusted Mahi Mahi with mango salsa. That was the most amazing meal. The second vacation we invited our friends to join us and she served the shrimp enchiladas. Just as amazing. The service is wonderful. It was a nice break from going out each night. Having her arrive, cook, serve and clean just made the vacation all the better. Her dinners are now a must each time we visit Mexico. We highly recommend hiring Sofia.

Made our Sayulita trip even more amazing...

WE had the distinct pleasure of having Sofia chef up some lovely food twice on our recent trip to Sayulita. One meal was for a small intimate group of 6 and then another, for a small intimate group of 27! She handled both with such grace and hospitality, and the food was to die for. It was such a treat to be able to relax in our rental home but to eat food that is better than any food in town....she was so skilled. Our favorite was the Tomatillo Salad and of course the Flourless Tequila Chocolate Cake. Thank you for your time and your lovely team!

A Delightful Dinner!

We had Sofia cook for us one evening while vacationing in Sayulita. There were 8 of us, and one was celebrating her 80th birthday. And we can't say enough wonderful things about Sofia. First of all -- the food! The best meal by far that we had while in Sayulita. It was true gourmet fare. The Cilantro Pesto fish (absolutely FRESH) was incredible. The Cinnamon Flan was to die for! The margaritas were delicious. Everything was so good that we asked Sofia to send us the recipes, which she very generously and promptly did. Which brings me to the next point. Working with Sofia was also a delight. She is so professional, yet very personable. She and her helper arrived exactly when she said. She was always extremely responsive to any questions or concerns I had. And she delivered on everything promised. When she was cooking for us, the service was excellent. It was such a treat to be able to relax in our rented home while Sofia shopped, cooked, and cleaned up. At first I thought it may be a bit expensive, but we all agreed it was worth every penny (or peso)!

Best Chef in Sayulita!!!!

How can i begin to describe our dining expierience with Sofia. we hired Sofia to cook our Son's birthday dinner for the 4 of us and from the drinks to dessert was just an awesome meal!!! we started with pasion fruit margaritas and let me tell you, Sofia's special blend of the passion fruit, mixers, and tequila was not to be matched in Sayulita! the appetizer of toasted sesame/bean dip was to die for. from their we went on to the main course of unbelievable pecan crusted mahi-mahi which is in my opinion the best fish to be had in Sayulita!! so fresh and light and tasty all wrapped in one! after all of that we then went on to the banana bread pudding cake and again it was heaven. We had Sofia also cook another night for us and expierienced her mouth watering mango chicken enchiladas, tostadas with tomatillo and crema, and a dessert of key lime flan was just another of Sofia's journeys through food heaven. as you can tell our time with Sofia was just a great time from start to finish. she was able to come to our house and we did not have to be there to let her in as we arranged it with the maid and when we got home form our days adventure drinks, appetizers, and the rest was waiting and then after all is done the kitchen looked like no one had been there as she takes care of all the cleanup. she was also very flexible with the menu and can do whatever you want just ask! all in all just a great way to spend a relaxful evening and enjoy the culinary travels that Sofia will prepare for you!!!! We will be using her again next year!
