Casa Quetzal in Sayulita is a Mediterranean, romantic and charming house with traditional arches. The home is on four levels and accommodates seven guests. The roof is one big terraza, with hammocks and a barbeque to enjoy wonderful star gazing and great whale watching from November through May. The views of Sayulita and sunsets are just amazing from here!
On the next level down is the main floor boasting a well-equipped kitchen, dining room, and living room, all in one generous open space, with doors that open up all the way to three sides to enjoy the fresh air and breathtaking views. From this expansive view, you can see the village of Sayulita, San Pancho, and even the three 'Islas Marias' on a clear day. The kitchen is simple, with granite counter-tops, breakfast bar, fridge, and stove and fully equipped with what you need for dining the comfort of Casa Quetzal in Sayulita.
Three bedrooms are downstairs each with King size beds, A/C and amazing ocean views. The master bedroom has a view of the ocean, hillside, and wild jungle. The master bedroom also has its own bathroom and private terrace. The other two bedrooms on this floor also have king size beds share a shower and a toilet, but each have their own sink and closet area and each open up to views of the ocean and sky. New sliding screen doors made from local parota wood were installed in November, 2019. The fourth bedroom has a single bed, is on the lower level but opens up to a large patio and views to the sea. We provide mosquito netting for all beds. There is a washer and dryer available and use can be coordinated with Abel and housekeeping.
There is one garden bedroom with a twin bed. Please note there is not A/C in this bedroom.
Casa Quetzal in Sayulita is surrounded by the garden, flowers, and fruit trees bearing papayas, bananas, grapefruit, limes, oranges and grenada apples, and several small patios sprinkled about with hammocks or small tables with chairs for extra private corners.
Guests can enjoy Casa Quetzal's salt-water pool (4x7 meters) with patio overlooking the ocean and pool shower. Maid service is offered 3 days a week and a caretaker is in charge of the pool and garden. More services available if requested. Please note there is no AC but plenty of ceiling fans and a pool for cooling off. With fresh ocean breezes, air conditioning is not needed for much of the year. Please note as with most homes in Sayulita there is no fence around the pool and the home is high on a hill with balconies. For these reasons, Casa Quetzal may not be suitable for young children.

Abel was able to organize not only transportation to the airport, but also our golf cart rental for the time. He was fully available for any questions that we had and even made changes to our reservation seemlessly.
The house itself came fully equipped with towels, sheets, grill and purified water.
I’d highly reccomend renting a golf cart because even though it’s not a far distance to town/ the beach, the hills are very steep. Once you drive the cart down the hill twice, you’ll be totally comfortable.
I will absolutely stay in this home again and cannot wait to return to Sayulita.
Golf carts are a must for this place, we'll be back!
The view from every vantage point was beautiful- by the pool, in the main house, and, our favorite- the roof. We walked into town most days, sometimes again to grab dinner- but always brought it back to the roof to eat as the sun set.
With a group ranging 4 to 67, we all found the walk up the hill doable- the pool feels amazing when you get to the top! And you would never have the peaceful serenity and views if you didn’t have to climb a little hill to get there.
It’s hard to imagine enjoying Sayulita from any other place now that we stayed at Jamie’s.
The steep hill provides expansive views, but you will definitely benefit from having a golf cart to go up and down to town. We had a great time at the house and the host was VERY responsive and helpful.
Other notes:
The lizards are delightful and come in the main level at night. One likes to hang out on the ceiling router. We called it WiFi.
I do suggest a car, as small as is possible.... the hill is wild, and an open golf-cart will let you choke on everyone's dust.
Keep your bedroom screens CLOSED at all times. The mosquitoes are always ready to feast.
We had an amazing honeymoon, and are so glad we stayed here.
