Summer is a fantastic time to visit Sayulita; there are great deals on many vacation rental homes, and many restaurants have daily specials. Although Sayulita is becoming a year-round tourist destination, there are still fewer visitors in the summer months. The temperatures are warm in the high 80’s (F) with high humidity. It’s typical to spend your mornings at the beach and head to your home in the afternoon to lounge by the pool, or hang out inside and enjoy the cold A/C. If you’re itching to get into town but want to stay cool and refreshed, here are our top 5 places to visit.

Wa Kika Heladería – Wa Kika has two locations in Sayulita and is an amazing, local family-owned business specializing in fresh fruit popsicles, hand made ice cream, and fresh fruit waters. During the hot summer months, there is nothing better than enjoying a hibiscus (Jamaica) and lime popsicle or sipping on an ice cold pineapple and basil (piña y albaca) water. All of Wa Kika’s products are handmade with local fresh fruit & purified water. One location is located inside Plaza Àgora, and the other is located right next to La Rustica on Avenida Revolucion, just steps away from the main plaza.

The Anchor coffee shop is fairly new to Sayulita, opening Its doors in 2016. With a menu full of plenty fresh and healthy smoothie bowls, smoothies, iced herbal tea infusions and iced coffees, you’ll find that The Anchor is a great place to relax, and enjoy the morning or afternoon. The location is ideal as it’s just half a block from the main plaza and just a two-minute walk to the main beach. All the ingredients in the smoothie bowls are sourced locally from Sayulita or Tepic. Try a local favorite- The Sayulita Smoothie Bowl!

Palmar Trapiche Beer Garden – Located on a lush property just steps away from the beach, Palmar Trapiche is a fantastic place to cool off and sip on an ice cold beer. Enjoy the outdoor dining experience in the lush jungle surroundings. The craft beer at Palmar Trapiche is sourced from a local brewery in Colima, just six hours south of Sayulita. There is always a new menu of different beers to choose from, with a wide variety of traditional lagers, IPA’s, Stouts, and seasonal specials.

Yah Yah Café – Yah Yah Café is located in the heart of Sayulita in the town plaza. A local favorite coffee shop, Yah Yah Café offers plenty of delicious iced drinks and hot beverages. Sip on an iced chai latte or iced coffee made from locally sourced beans. Yah Yah Café offers a relaxing atmosphere with comfortable couches and outdoor seating with 3-4 tables. Be sure to ask about their daily herbal infusions for a non-caffeinated cold treat.

Tierra Viva – Tierra Viva is known for their delicious food, but they also offer an array of delicious smoothies. They offer unique blends like passion fruit, mango, and strawberry smoothies. Tierra Viva is located at Calle Marlin #10 (corner of Manuel Navarete) next to the Iguana Sanctuary and one block from the beach. Tierra Viva offers both  indoor and outdoor dining.
