Nestled in the heart of Sayulita, and located in the Plaza Agora, is Matiz restaurant.  The setting is elegant, simple, and clean with a European bistro flair. Victor, owner and operator of the restaurant, envisioned generous portions for sharing and that’s what to expect when you dine at Matiz. Bring your family and friends, sit near the fountain, order a cucumber margarita, and enjoy the open setting. There is Ladies Night on Thursday’s (9pm) and Jazz music on Friday evenings.

The cuisine at Matiz has a farm to table feel about it with fresh salads, and my favorite, the tuna tartar.  Chunks of fresh tuna sprinkled with sesame seeds and pine nuts. Try the crispy octopus. So delicious! The octopus is grilled to perfection and sits on a bed of fresh vegetables, potatoes, and Spanish chorizo. The flavors were succulent and the dish was a colorful masterpiece.

Don’t forget to save room for dessert at Matiz. I had the vanilla ice cream with prunes and topped with tequila. The combination was delightful! If you are wondering about bringing the kids to Matiz, the menu has a few kid friendly choices. I recommend the fish and chips for the young ones or there’s also chicken fingers with a dipping sauce. Matiz offers a nice variety of wines and has a full bar. See you at Matiz!
