Villa Olivia beachfront vacation rental in Sayulita Mexico (Submit reservation request directly to owner)
"...A little slice of heaven on earth. A reminder that life can be simpler, slower, and more purposeful. Thank you for everything...a priceless gift." ...A Villa Olivia Guest
Villa Olivia at Patzcuaro Beach, located three miles south of Sayulita, is a secluded tropical paradise for families and friends looking for a true "escape from it all", while within close proximity to Sayulita and Punta de Mita, a short 8-10 minute drive in either direction. The villa was formerly featured in Outside Magazine as one of the international "100 Absolute Best Getaways" and affords a breathtaking oceanfront setting surrounded by pristine beaches and exotic jungle.
Patzcuaro Beach is a relatively unknown and still undeveloped area with a small handful of private vacation compounds owned primarily by prominent Mexican families who have been here for many years. Our area of the coastline has been designated by the Mexican Federal Government as an ecological preserve for the protection of nesting sea turtles, birds, and other wildlife. "Monkey Mountain", the legendary home of the God of the Hitchol Indians can be seen from Villa Olivia. A section of the road to the villa passes through a stream with giant ancient fig trees, typically filled with colorful tropical birds. The property itself is lush with mature trees and palms, flowering plants, and tropical vegetation.
Villa Olivia is most ideally suited to families and friends who place a high priority on being in touch with nature; enjoying the sounds of the waves and the birds, taking morning hikes through the jungle, watching the whales and dolphins while having breakfast, languishing on a private stretch of beach or in a hammock under the palms, taking in the magnificent sunsets, leisurely dinners by candelight overlooking the ocean, and gazing at the stars around a bonfire on the beach. We have had many groups of all ages stay with us over the past 12 years. A stay at Villa Olivia is a unique and "magical" experience you are likely to never forget!
The villa, staggered on a hillside directly above the beach, is remarkably lovely and gracious in the traditional Mexican style. It was built in the early 1980's by a Mexican family from Guadalajara as a vacation home and was designed with the traditional red tile roofs, whitewashed walls, high beamed ceilings, terracota floors and classical "talavera" tiles, cobblestone walkways and terraces. The spacious living/dining area is under a 30 foot high thatched roof "palapa" overlooking the ocean with an adjoining full-service kitchen. A winding stone stairway leads to the pool and beach below. Each of the five individual "casita" suites has its own private entrance, spacious bedroom, bath, and patio or terrace with ocean views. The atmosphere at Villa Olivia can best be described as secluded, relaxed, intimate, and exceptionally charming.
Airport pick-up and delivery as well as local taxi van service to and from the villa are available. Guests who plan to leave the property frequently may wish to rent a vehicle.
