below more details on what to expect from a stay at Villa Calabaza.
La Favorita, Mi Nido (Africa Suite not listed) are Mexican eclectic artsy and ethnic bohemian spaces. Each is private, separate with its own entrance. The only shared amenity is the jacuzzi.
Villa Calabaza is located in the desirable North End away from town's tumult. Green, pristine, clean... However, Sayulita's rapid inevitable expansion of hotels, condos, residences has meant losing some of its remote, off the beaten path tranquility. If I know of the potential for major construction noise, I inform guests before their stay. Nights can be exquisitely quiet except for crickets and pounding sea!
Amenities available to Casa Calabaza guests: Shared Jacuzzi dipping pool (heated with notice) 2 garden levels below. Outdoor shower lower level for beach sand. Chairs, umbrella, cooler for the beach, a 3 minute walk via the lower garden gate at the street. Views and sounds of the Pacific; whale watching Nov.-March; the lush jungly atmosphere of the neighborhood centered around an enormous white fig, offers abundant flora and fauna; green parrots, iguanas, chachalacas, uruacas, squirrels. Binoculars are provided. Depending on the season (monsoon or dry), there can be mosquitos and insects. I fumigate sparingly to keep the jungle ecosystem balanced. Coatimundis and raccoons can be nocturnal visitors. Keep your avocados and bananas safe! Close the trash containers which are below Mi Nido loft stairs tightly.
Three cats have adopted me; Salsa, Kinky and Rub.
The safes are good ones; I recommend keeping only personal belongings there, but cash and keys with you, not in a place where they can disappear or be copied. Lock doors when your are out. A golf cart rental is an excellent option for getting around Sayulita. There are 4 outlets for charging golf carts—2 down on the street and 2 above at the middle entrance. I do not recommend a car rental unless you are travelling around to other villages or surfing outside of Sayulita. I do recommend the bus, and the easiest way to get to Sayulita from PV airport is to cross the highway bridge with your luggage (or get help with your luggage) and get a northbound taxi (6-900 pesos) or take the bus ($4-5 US), then a taxi to Calabaza. If I know your timing I may be able to meet you in the golf cart.
If you bring a car, there is street parking after unloading near Casa Galaxia.
Taxis around Sayulita are $3-4 US.
Purified water provided.
Carmen cleans once a week either Wed. or Friday.
For closing windows, doors and screens consider the lower somewhat quieter units, Africa suite or La Favorita, both which have AC in the bedrooms.
Sayulita has ongoing water delivery problems. Short showers are appreciated. Turning off AC, lights, fans when out as well.
