Casa Calabaza (Pumpkin House) in Sayulita is Mexican Modern Eclectic with a taste of Bohemia.  There are two available and completely separate upper and lower rental suites. This house is not suitable for small children as there are open balcony areas where small ones could fall and the pool is not protected. Perfect for two couples or a family of 4-5 with teenagers... An airbed is available for 3rd teenager in lower queen suite.  Owner lives on private quarters.

Tranquil beach access is a 2 minute stroll steps from the property, down a cobblestone drive. Views and sounds of the Pacific are breathtaking and mesmerizing; the lush jungly atmosphere of the neighborhood offers abundant flora and fauna. Or lounge around the lower suite outdoor living area near the dipping pool. This is the best of indoor/outdoor palapa living, with closed or open bedrooms (AC available from May-December), for a total Sayulita beach experience, without the noisiness of town.  Comfortable furnishings, original paintings and ceramics, most by artist/owner Nanci Closson throughout.

Casa Calabaza is located at the very north-end of Sayulita, just off Avenida Palmar (beach street) up the hill on Calle Papagallos.  Best way to get around from this area is:  walk to the beach along a garden path, walk along the beach or paved Avenida Palmar to town (15 minutes), rent a golf cart for your stay and hustle back and forth and around the Pueblo parking and exploring with ease.  A car rental can be a hindrance unless you want to visit other towns during your stay, as there is little parking in town. Good restaurants on the North end are a 10 minute walk.  There are some secluded beaches and an interesting trail jungle/beach walk all the way to San Pancho, the next town.

Calabaza has the following amenities:  dipping pool,  maid twice weekly. Wifi, safe, fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, washer/dryer, TV with DVDs, BBQ, ceiling and floor fans throughout,  private parking; AC in bedrooms offered from May/December.

Please use the contact form to get in touch with any questions and to request a reservation. You can select the Arriba or Abajo unit, or the entire house when inquiring.

Wonderful Holiday Home
This is simply a beautiful home for a holiday for two couples or a family. It is an open concept, beautiful views and close to the best beach area in Sayulita - about a 2 minute walk. It is a little further from the centre of town than some but my husband and I walked it many times, either by way of the beach or along the road - about 10-15 minutes.Nanci is the perfect host - she was there when we arrived and always there if we had questions throughout our stay. Her artwork on the walls is a very special touch - beautiful! This place is very well appointed and has everything you need including beach chairs, etc.We would definitely stay there again - only for a longer period next time. Fabulous!

Casa Calabaza stay Nov. 9 to Nov. 13, 2018
Beautiful casa on the north end of Sayulita. Nanci the owner was most helpful in meeting us at the casa and helping us with some phone calls right when we arrived. Printed instructions were complete with recommendations for things to do and places to eat in Sayulita. Nanci's art work throughout the house is beautiful. Two minute walk to beach.
Geckos on the ceiling and the sound of the waves to go to sleep by. Would love to stay at this casa again.

Beautiful home!!
My family of five (two adults, 11, and twins 4) stayed for three weeks this June. The home is beautiful and very well designed. It is perfect for a couple of couples or a family. It is a little bit out of town and a short walk to the beach. For swimming, the beach nearby was not for the little kids, but it offered a lot of privacy and beautiful sunsets. The little wading pool at the house is smaller than it looks in the photos, but was perfect for cooling off and was just fine overall. The outdoor shower and beach items were a nice touch. The staff (Concha) was friendly and responsive to any issues. Internet worked the entire time! (I needed it for work). Overall we were thrilled with the entire place.

It isn't a place for kids under 4. The beautiful pagoda on the second floor is the main living area but kids could easily fall through the railing. I had trouble relaxing when the kids started running around. Again, for adults this is a lovers paradise.
Unless you are fit or love a good walk, a golf cart is needed to go into town. Budget $40 per day.
We were there is June so we knew it would be hot. If there in June plan on being out of the house between 3 and 7.

absolutely beautiful
Pictures don't do this beautiful Casa justice. Absolutely beautiful. Nancy and all her staff were on top of everything. Quick response from all. The views of the ocean were stunning, the beds more than comfortable, kitchen stocked with everything you could want! The 2 master bedrooms were perfect with private bathrooms made it perfect for 2 couples wanting privacy. The maid was great, she washed our dishes from dishwasher as us silly gringos accidentally used powder dish soap in the dishwasher.. a bubbled mess, but still greeted us with a big smile! Beautiful birds and jungle view back yard. The splash pool was a big hit and we enjoyed sipping margaritas in the pool. Showers were always hot, Casa was always spotless. Loved our stay and have nothing but good things to say. We will definitely be back!!

view beautiful
As another review said before, pictures really don't do Nancy's place justice. The view and the sound of the ocean are beutiful. The two bedrooms are incredibly spacious. The beach is 50 feet away, and coffee shops and restaurants are just a short walk towards town. Nancy was always available for us. Can't wait to come back!

Just like pictures but better
The place is just like the pictures. Pool is kind of cold though because it only gets about 30 min of sun a day. But it's really close to the beach; if you walk down the street and right on the main road then there is a public beach access 30 yards away which is nice for strolling down through town, or close for hiking over to the next beach towards San Pancho which was amazing!

beautiful house
Casa Calabaza is a beautiful house with a great view of the ocean. My very favourite part was hearing the ocean - the rolling surf day and night is the most relaxing sound in the world. And because the house is so open you hear that wonderful sound everywhere through the house.

Total relaxation!
I’ve been coming to Sayulita off and on for 22 years, watching it grow over time. When I stay in this house (which I've rented several times), I can always count on finding the tranquility and natural beauty that first attracted me to this fishing village. I love the fact the beach steps down the hill is undeveloped. The sunsets are always spectacular, and I am lulled to sleep by the sound of crashing waves (not discotheques). It’s an easy walk into town, which is now bustling with great restaurants and fun shops. I also can walk to Playa Los Muertos beach, which is one of the most beautiful swimming coves I’ve ever seen. The beds are comfy and the open living room makes you feel like you are one with the environment. I’ve been here with my adult kids and alone and have always left feeling renewed.
