Description

Casa Cantamar in Sayulita has three bedrooms and three baths on 2 separate levels. The separate master suite upstairs overlooks the kitchen and pool area. A large living area and oceanfront terrace lead to the pool which overlooks the beach. A fully equipped kitchen with all the modern conveniences. And of course, each room overlooks the sparkling Pacific ocean.

The walk to town is only 10 minutes via the sandy beach. The beach-hacienda comes with linens and towels, drinking water, and maid service. Feel free to have meals prepared at the house as well for a small extra fee. Come sit on the patio and watch the whales, sea birds, and fantastic sunsets at Casa Cantamar!

This is a great house on the beach with plenty of room to freely roam the house, gardens and pool area. Casa Cantamar is located on the north end of Sayulita Mexico on a cobblestone drive amongst a collection of other fine vacation rental home-haciendas.

Exceptional setting. Wonderful staff.
The pictures of Casa Cantamar, the gardens and beach, as amazing as they are, truly don't do it justice. The gardens are colorful and immaculate. The beach is extraordinary and swimmable. The "boys" spent hours body surfing. We spent 6 days in paradise and were hard pressed to find a reason to leave. We loved watching the pelicans and iguanas and all the birds. The sunsets were spectacular. And, of course, being lulled by the sound of the ocean was divine.

The house was very clean, albeit a bit rustic. The bedrooms are large and the A/C works well (it was really hot). There were 7 of us and the staff accommodated us by adding a mattress to one of the bedrooms - it fit with room to spare. The bathrooms were clean and modern. The kitchen is sparse. There is no dishwasher and the frig is small. There are also few utensils/cookware - but enough to get by and we made it work. We did enjoy using the outdoor charcoal bbq. Manual, the groundskeeper, provides fresh water every day. Tons of hot water and great water pressure. We enjoyed the plunge pool, although with the high heat/humidity, it was more like a hot tub than a refreshing dip - still nice to have though. We had no trouble with bugs, even in the evenings.

WiFi worked well. There are no laundry facilities on site, but you can arrange it with Zuli, the housekeeper. She was there (as was Manual) each day but Sunday around 10. She was very helpful and pleasant but unobtrusive and left the house spotless.

You can walk to town - it's about 1 km down the beach (the sand was very hot from late morning through early evening) - a bit of a hike and dark at night (bring flashlights). There are a couple of hills if you want to walk via the road - but not too bad. We rented a golf cart and that made the run in to town easy.

Town is quaint and there is plenty to do and many restaurants (Il Tecate was our favorite Taco Bar) to choose from. There is no supermarket near by, so if you want to stock up, you will want to hit the Mega or Walmart on the way up. That said, we had no trouble finding what supplies we needed in town - you just have to bop around to various stores - i.e. fruits/veggies at one, meat at another, alcohol at another, etc. Prices are quite inexpensive. And, I was happy to find most stores open on Sunday. We also took a short trip up the road to San Pancho for dinner and found it charming.

Theo, with the property management company, assisted us before our departure and was wonderful. He coordinated a traditional Mexican cook to come to the house on our first night (delicious!) and was always prompt at answering my questions.

We are seasoned vacation rental users and I will admit, I was a bit nervous wandering off the Airbnb, VRBO path to try Sayulita Life, but they truly exceeded all my expectations.

We will be back to Casa Cantamar and I would not hesitate to recommend renting from Sayulita Life.

A Magical Vacation Spot
The home is perfectly situated so as to maximize amazing sunsets and endless ocean-gazing from the comfort of the beach, the patio, the swimming pool or the indoor-outdoor living spaces. It's unique layout give guests the opportunity to interact if desired, although there is plenty of space for solitude also.

Quiet, private, spacious beach retreat just a half mile walk in the sand from town
We loved Casa Cantamar. The villa itself exceeded our expectations. We were only a couple, and the villa has three huge suites, so we did not even step foot in the spacious second story. The main floor doors fold back to offer great views of the beach and ocean, and easy indoor/outdoor living. Outside the beachfront gates, there are two private palaces, and an elevated private bit of sand. The bathrooms were spacious, the water always hot and great pressure. The kitchen is central, between the two ground floor suites. The appliances were a bit dated but worked well. The beautifully landscaped grounds, and pool, and sloped lawn to the beach were superbly kept by the daily groundskeeper. Plumeria blossoms fell each day, to our delight. The only eating/sitting table is outside, under the veranda facing the ocean. Great for day or night sitting, sipping, and eating. The lawn furniture was nice, clean, and comfortable. Beach towels were plentiful. We were a bit taken aback by the requirement to put all toilet tissue into a plastic-lined wicker hamper, next to the toilet. Never seen that before, and a bit off-putting.
We rented a golf cart from the lovely people at Sayulita Golf Cars in town. It was delivered to the villa just after our arrival, very reasonably priced, and very useful for the several minute drive into town, when the longer beach walk wasn't appropriate.. We had a few bites from small bugs just at dusk, before we bought some repellent - usually on the ankles, in late December. Rental arrangements went very smoothly, as they have US and Sayulita based owner/operators. All in all, I would highly recommend Casa Cantamar, and we would - we will - stay there again.

Great Second Trip to Sayulita
We have been bragging about our trip for two weeks now which is why it took so long to write a review. We stayed in the Casa the first week of March 2018 and except for not having enough forks for the dinner we had prepared for us the first night all was great. That was the one bump and it was fixed very quickly. The location is great sleeping with the sound of the surf was fantastic. Not a drop of rain for the week and we never turned on an air conditioner.
The house is exactly as it shows in the photos . Just stop at the Mega on your way in for supplies. The house keeper and gardener are wonderful and take very good care of you. I have been looking all over and cannot find a better house than this one. We will certainly be back . Really do need a good golf cart though as it is a little hilly. Also contact Daniel at Mexotik to come in and cook for you he is fantastic.

Beautiful View!
We had an absolutely amazing stay at Casa Cantamar. The home & property are as nice as shown in the pictures and the view absolutely can't be beat! The landscaper & house cleaner kept up with the property daily. We couldn't have asked for anything more and will likely book this home for future stays in Sayulita! Cheers!

Fantastic views, the details are lacking!!!!!
Stayed here over Christmas/new year. . The views, pool and grounds are so fantastic. The grounds keeper was also a nice, honest man. He found our friend's camera on the beach and returned it. What a great person!!
HOWEVER, the details are sorely lacking. The sheets were subpar, the towels, although clean were stained and the maid told us there were no more towels when we asked. The cabintes in the kitchen smelled of mold and things were missing. It seems as though the house gets rented without much regard for making sure things are working and freshened up between guests. The caretaker tried his best and was a descent fellow, however he lacked the power to do anything.
Also we were told we had daily maid service but out of the 9 days she didn't come 3 of them because of the XMas, New Years day, and Sunday. She deserves some time off as well but we should have been told upfront. Also the chairs at the beach are rusted.
The view, pool and beach were wonderful. The location is also peaceful which we really liked.

Fantastic property
We loved casa Cantamar. It is absolutely the prettiest beach front property in Sayulita. The pool right on the beach, ocean views from all the rooms, 3 full bedroom suits and daily maid service 6 days a week, where they even do our laundry and dishes done daily made this an absolute paradise vacation. The beach was nearly empty near the house our entire stay and the 10 min walk on the beach into town was perfect as we were both close enough and far enough to enjoy the towns activities and restaurants but not have the noise or traffic. We are coming back!!

We'll be back thats for sure!
We've been coming back to Casa Cantamar for several years. It is not only a great retreat, it is sublimely beautiful and the relaxation provided by ocean waves is calming to say the least. The accommodations are perfect. Fully functioning kitchen, lovely pool, patio overlooking the Pacific, private beach cabana as part of the property, daily gardener and maid service (except Sunday) keeps this place fresh and clean, even your laundry. It is private and a little out of the way but an easy beach walk or a stroll down the streets to town. In my opinion its the most beautiful beachfront property in Sayulita.
