Beautiful Mexican Casita
My girlfriend and I came to Sayulita for a week getaway January 7-14 and stayed at the two and a half bedroom casita at Casita Tortuga. Marcelo greeted us on arrival, and made sure we were
comfortable, and took care of all of our needs; A terrific host!
The location is great, easy walking distance to town, and far enough away to get a good nights sleep. The roosters woke us up in the morning, which we enjoyed; and the beds very comfortable. We really enjoyed staying there and would definately book again!

Nice and relaxing location 2 blocks from town square and beach.
Nothing out of the extra ordinary but very much what we expected. We're so glad we visited Sayulita. Marcello was a great host taking time to talk to every one.

Great location and host
My girlfriend and I just stayed both the penthouse and the 1 bedroom suites (based on availability). We were really happy with both.

1. Penthouse

It really was exactly as described. Will sleep 3 with a queen bed and a single room which you can lock valuables in. The living space was nice with plenty of sun and shade.

Be aware that there is defiantly noise from town. We were here on the Easter week which is a huge national holiday Not sure what the noise would be on the aberage week.

2. 1br suite

The 1br is great for the price. A lot quieter than the penthouse at night and has a ton of ceiling fans which keep it cool all day and night.

3. The location

It is really close to everything. 2 short blocks to the beach and to the plaza/square.

I would definitely come back again.

Sayulita Hideaway March 2015
This is the perfect Sayulita hideaway, only a few minutes walk from town and the beach. Clean, cozy and quiet with lush vegetation and peaceful shade to read or nap the afternoon away. All the guests were respectful of personal space and noise levels. The host is welcoming and gracious and available when needed. We loved Casitas Tortugas!!

Just all around wonderful
Casitas Tortugas has a great location. I was vacationing alone with a 4 year old and the property is a reasonable walking distance to the beach and the plaza. As everyone mentions, Marcelo is very kind and helpful. The casita we stayed in was clean and comfortable. It was larger than it appeared on the pictures and the virtual tour. You can just barely hear the sounds of town at night which I absolutely loved going to sleep to and it certainly wasn't in a bothersome way...just enough to make you feel like you're in Sayulita. This was our 4th trip to Sayulita and this is probably one of the most peaceful, quietest places that we've stayed. I would recommend Casitas Tortugas to anyone and will certainly stay there again in the future.

Clean, great turtle pond, but bring warm clothes
Casitas Tortugas met our basic needs. It was really clean (which was appreciated!) and pretty quiet. The turtle pond was a nice touch, but the seating area beside it was awkward to use.

The downside of the ground level suites are that they are cold and dark. In the heat of the summer this may be ideal, but we had the windows open in an attempt to warm up the apartment. The only time during our trip that I had to wear a sweater was when I was INSIDE the suite.

The Best!
My family and I had the most relaxing stay at Casitas Tortugas. We were lucky enough to stay in the Jungle Penthouse, where we were able to listen to the palms sway in the breeze and the sounds of Sayulita. Marcelo was very gracious and gave us many tips on where to visit. Of course the only issue we had was our last day when we had to leave our little piece of paradise on the roof!

A great place to stay in a great little town
If you're looking for a reasonably priced 1 or 2 bedroom place look no further. Marcelos place is centrally located, close to the town square and very close to the beach (about a 2 minute walk either way). The pictures on this site are very accurate and provide a good view of what you're going to see, it really does feel like a jungle. I spent the month of February at Casitas Tortugas and I will be definitely going back one day. The room we stayed in was the Jungle Penthouse and it was fantastic, open air, a smaller but very functional kitchen and more than enough space. The room was very clean and had everything you could possibly need. I would recommend Casitas Tortugas to anyone. Marcelo is a great guy to deal with, from the initial inquiry, to paying deposits and eventually showing up, he was helpful all along the way. His attention to detail on the property does not go unnoticed and certainly the same goes for how he runs his business. Highly recommend Casitas Tortugas

I was born and lived in Buenos Aires, Argentina until 1987, when, because of the unstable political situation, I moved with my wife-to-be, to Santa Barbara, California. I lived there for 15 years, working as a finish carpenter and contractor, something I really loved doing. After many years of fixing, building and remodeling other people's houses, it became my dream to create my own place, and a home-based business started to form. While living in Santa Barbara, we took beach vacations, with my wife and children, along the Riviera Nayarit, on the Pacific coast of Mexico. One afternoon we met a lady who asked us to go for a ride with her to Sayulita. It was the first time I went into that charming town. I had an instant connection, and the feeling that Sayulita was the place for us to materialize our dreams. Asking around I found a small house two blocks from the main beach, and two blocks from the town square. It was a great location and I bought the house the following day!In 2002 I finally moved to Sayulita with my children. The very next day people were knocking at my door, asking me to become their contractor and to be in charge of building their houses. Speaking both English and Spanish fluently, and possessing knowledge about construction with American standards of quality and craftsmanship, made me very sought after in the region. After I had finished the construction of my casitas, I added another unit, the 2.5 bedroom suite, situated above my own house in the front part of the property.
