Great for families with kids!
We stayed at Casa Cunados with our kids and had the best time! The house was spacious and clean, the patio area outside was a nice place to eat dinner- especially because it had a fan. We loved that the pool was right there and the beach was a minute walk away. Overall we had a great time and highly recommend it.

Beautiful place! Easy walk to town and beaches!
Stayed in Casa Cunandos towards the end of September and a wonderful time was had by all! The house was spacious, immaculate, and provided all the essentials. The full kitchen allowed us to cook our own meals on nights when we didn't feel like dining in town, and given we were only a couple minute walk from town, grabbing the essentials and carrying them back to Casa Cunando was no problem at all! In the back of the unit was our own private beautiful palapa, where we ate most of our meals. Even when there was a little rain, the palapa provided the perfect amount of shelter space for all of us to dine. Not to mention this unit has a beautiful shared pool and is only a few steps from the ocean water! Couldn't recommend casa cunandos enough! Great time had by all!

Amazing location! Very comfortable home!
Casa Cunados is the perfect vacation getaway. We loved the fact that you could walk right into the village for a nice dinner. The home is in a beautiful and safe private beach complex with a lovely swimming pools and steps from a romantic palm lined beach. The home was well equipped and spacious with a wonderful patio under a palapa. I would definitely recommend this home, and we will be back again.

Charming, Kid-friend! Comfortable!
I came here with my sister, grandma, grandpa and 2 little ones and we were very comfortable. Kid-friendly place! We liked that there were other families with small children in the complex. The house had everything we needed with lots of towels, dishes, bottled water. It was spic n' span clean - fresh flowers - maid came every day but Sunday. LIght and spacious place. We could all stretch out. Enclosed back yard where we barbequed. Comfortable beds. I was only a short stroll to the main plaza and just a few steps from the fairly private beach. We felt very safe - friendly security guards were on the premises 24/7. Ladies with tamales and warm pastries came around every few days. Property manager was often in the office or could be reached easily. Super nice atmosphere! It was a little piece of paradise!

Cunados is in poor condition and is not a good rental due to many problems. The semi-resident manager was pleasant enough but never really interested in solving the problems. The toilets did not work and the plumber that finally came just pushed the problem on down the line and the other toilet did not work, so they just cut the sewer line open behind the house???. There was no hot water in the showers until days later they finally put in a new regulator but there was never hot water in the kitchen. Shower heads were so corroded that water squirted everywhere. The safe batteries kept falling out due to a broken bracket and they finally gave us an override key. The house was drab and dingy inside and the garden around the palapa was in such bad shape that we did not use it. The main complex of individual units is quite attractive on the outside and the 2 pools are very nice. Access to the beach is great. Sorry to say that Cunados had been neglected and should have never been rented. I think these may be individually owned units because some looked much nicer.
We always vacation for 3 weeks in the Puerto Vallarta area with one week each in a variety of great places. Cunados was not nearly as nice as the photos on this site and was our first disappointment after many years of vacationing in this area.

Hola GaryL.

Please accept my apologies for the problems you encountered at Casa Cunados. We do our best to make sure the place is in tip-top shape so I am a bit confused about why there were so many difficulties during your visit.

But let me address your complaints separately:

Shower heads and Safe: We have all fixtures and appliances inspected or replaced prior to the high season. I do not know why this happened and have contacted our manager.

The Garden: We have a gardener who comes once a week and daily housekeepers sweep the garden area every day.

Water problems: Sayulita is tiny and sometimes their utilities are unable to deal with the increase in population during the high season, which is when your rental took place. This is not a frequent occurrence, but it does happen from time to time. Most rental properties are affected. .Similar problems occur with the relatively new sewer system.

We have been renting Cunados for 10 years, and many of our renters have returned. Thus far, we have not received any reviews quite as critical as yours but you were certainly justified. Had such problems happened to me, I probably would have been just as upset. Much to our relief, some clients have deleted their reviews following my replies.

You might be interested to know that we are presently upgrading Cunados—3 new air conditioners, one in each bedroom, remodeled bathrooms, new furniture, colorful paint job, new artwork and kitchen improvements.

In any case, I am very sorry that this happened and, although I suspect you will not wish to stay at Cunados again, I do hope that you will visit our lovely town again soon.

Best Regards,

Great location, average amenities
This was our first visit to Sayulita. Case Condos is located very close to town. I would still suggest a golf cart as it is very hot and dusty to walk. The house was the perfect size. However, there is only air conditioning in the master. It does a good job of cooling that room, but the rest of the house is very warm and very little cross breeze. The pools are nice and the location to the beach is ideal.

Our housekeeping service was great. She was there everyday at 9 and did a fantastic job. Very sweet girl.

I am not sure if it was a fluke, but the water was shut off each day for at least an hour, and never at a consistent time. No shower, no toilet...nothing. It would be nice to be advised what time the water will be unavailable.

We enjoyed our stay, but these are things that would've been nice to know going in.

Hi Jackieblue.

As the owner of Casa Cunados, I am terribly sorry that you experienced several problems during your visit, but I do appreciate your bringing them to my attention.

The AC situation has been addressed—-we now have one unit in each bedroom. I wish someone had mentioned it earlier. However, I do believe that our description in Sayulita Life mentioned that there was only one AC and that it was located in the Master.

As for the water shut-off, I’m afraid that this is not something we can control or predict. The town of Sayulita is tiny and sometimes their utilities are unable to deal with the increase in population during the high season. This is not a frequent occurrence, but it does happen from time to time. Most rental properties are affected.

If this problem occurred with any frequency, be assured that we would have warned prospective tenants, but in10 years of rentals we have had no more than 2 or 3 complaints.

Best Regards,
Ingrid van Eckert

Spacious Beautiful & Well-Maintained
We LOVED Sayulita—what a gorgeous place! I loved the Mexican decor! Casa Cunados was an excellent choice for me and my family. It's close to the beach, a few steps to the pool, a short stroll to town and nearby restaurants. The house provided daily housekeeping services (which was much needed with my messy family), and clean drinking water was delivered daily. If we weren't in the mood to eat out we barbecued with the provided grill and sunbathed in the spacious backyward eating, playing, and drinking tequila beneath the lovely palapa. For a personal touch the owners had left a sweet welcome sign in the living room with instructions to call or email them directly if we encountered any problems, which we did not. It was good to know that they were reachable. All in all it was a fantastic and a much needed relaxing vacation. I plan on returning in the near future!

Perfect location!
We were in Sayuliya for a wedding and casa cunados was the perfect location! It is very centrally located and a short walk to town, either by the sand, or thru the streets. Or, if you need to go north for a wedding, it's a 0.3mile walk. The house is newer than the ones our friends rented (we could flush TP down the toilets). We had a maid come once during our 4 day stay which was nice. The Internet was very spotty the whole time, but it sounds like that is the same throughout the entire town. Great house for the price!

Hola!I’m a German born American currently working in the healthcare industry. My husband, John, is an author/screenwriter. We have two grown-up daughters and live in Los Angeles.Ten years ago, when John and I first visited Sayulita, we were so totally enchanted with the gorgeous beaches, cobblestone streets and friendly ambience of this delightful seaside town, that we bought Casa Cunados. In fact, one of our daughters—the one pictured with me at Don Pedros---fell in love with Sayulita and moved there in 2008. She still lives there, happy as a clam, and she and her husband are building their first house!!Casa Cunados, which is a free-standing house is located in the Delfines community, which we chose for its proximity to town and the beach, the gorgeous well-kept grounds, the friendly people and the extra ounce of security. If you choose to stay at Cunados, we welcome you and hope you have a fun-filled, relaxing stay in our fair town! And if you had a great time in Sayulita and enjoyed staying at our Casa or if you have any suggestions for improvements we would love to hear from you!Gracias!Ingrid & John
