Tours:

Monkey Mountain

Trip Description: Monkey mountain is one of the most distinctive features of the surrounding landscape. The view to the south overlooks Punta de Mita and the Bay of Banners. The view to the north stretches past Sayulita as far as the eye can see.  The mountain is home to a variety of plant and wildlife as well as being considered a sacred area to the local indigenous populations that once lived here in the Bay of Banners.

Take a fun walk under the canopy of the forest up to the top of Cerro del Mono (Monkey Mountain). Your trained naturalist guides will help identify local flora and fauna as well as point out  ancient petroglyphs and educate you on the cultural history of this area. When you summit the mountain you will find yourself standing in front of a captivating 360° vista view of the Bay of Banderas.

Alta Vista

Trip Description: This hike is one for the books. More than two thousand years ago an Aztecan tribe, the Tecoxquines (Throat Cutters), chipped images into the volcanic rock along the river Las Piletas. The petroglyphs are believed to be symbolic of the concerns and the yearnings of the people, for health and fertility, the return of the rains, and successful crops. The rock carvings might have been meant as prayers or offerings to the gods responsible for these things.

We hike along the Piletas river under an immense canopy of tropical forest with hanging bromeliads and other tropical flowers. Butterflies will dance around your head as you observe the ancient petroglyphs. Your naturalist guide will teach you about the local flora and fauna as well as the indigenous & cultural history of the area. As you come to the end of the trail you will be amazed by the beauty and peacefulness of the sacred pools and array of petroglyphs surrounding you. Here you can take this time to contemplate, watch the butterflies or wander around.

Amazing hike to see awesome petroglyphs
Guys, you have to go do this! This incredible archeological site is unbelievable. Our guide, Arturo, is very passionate about nature and the petroglyphs. He is a wealth of information and really made our day outstanding. It was over an hour to drive to the site, then the hike was fairly even. Some of the hike was out in sun and some completely covered in the jungle. Fortunately, the day wasn't too hot and the hike was very pleasant. I think it took about a hour or hour and half to get to the first petroglyph. Arturo explained everything we needed to know. The end of the hike was at a waterfall with some small pools you could jump in. We had lunch, then went into the water which was magical. It was hotter on the way back, but took less time since we didn't stop at the glyphs again.

Hike from Sayulita to San Pancho
It was worthwhile taking a guide from Mexitreks to do the hike from Sayulita to San Pancho. Yan offered us a wealth of information about the jungle and pointed out so many things that we would have just walked past. Great experience and not too strenuous.

Amazing day snorkeling
What a great experience during our trip to Sayulita over Christmas! With the convenient pick-up and transportation to our incredible guide, Yan, our day was filled with wonderful memories. Isla Coral was a beautiful spot to snorkel and the sea life was abundant. Our daughter and son-in-law experienced swimming with a large green sea turtle and all of us found rays, puffers, eels, parrot fish, trigger fish and too many to mention. Yan was able to explain the significance of the black coral and answer our questions about the birds, flora and fauna of the area. Would recommend this adventure.

Paradise beach kayak trip - returned my left behind hydroflask!
We had a wonderful half day kayak trip with our guide Yan who made our adventure truly outstanding. Yan is very personable, easy going, and a lot of fun to be with. He's incredibly knowledgeable of the the ocean, the jungle and the culture around Sayulita. (I got the impression that their other guides are equally great.)

The adventure is a very enjoyable kayak trip to an isolated beach where we ate lunch, swam and hiked in the jungle with Yan who gave us a wonderful hands-on biology lesson.

We also left a reusable water bottle (hydroflask) in Yan's van when we returned to Sayulita. That night I received an email from Mexitreks asking how they could get it back to us. The following morning it was on our doorstep. Mexitreks is first class!

Fantastic hike up Monkey Mountain - don't miss it!
We had a great hike up Monkey Mountain over the Christmas holidays. Arturo was a fun, informative guide and looked after us well both in transporting us in the van to and from the trail head as well as making sure we were comfortable on the trickier parts of the trail. It's a moderate hike with some harder sections of climbing and the view on top was spectacular. It was an awesome alternative to another day at our all inclusive for our adult family.

Awesome hike!
We had a a great hike with Steve on the hike from San Pancho to Sayulita. He explained all the flora and fauna and answered a ton of questions about life in Sayulita. The hike was about 3 hours but we stopped at a beautiful beach for a bit. Beautiful foliage through the jungle. We did the The last hike with our baby in backpack no problem, though there are some rocky points to the hike and some up/downhill. 100% recommend hiking with Mexitreks.

Wonderful Kayak Trip! Incredible Guide!
We had a wonderful 1/2 day kayak trip with our most wonderful MexiTreks guide, Yan. We kayaked out to a secluded beach that we had to ourselves, ate lunch, swam and got a great hands-on biology lesson as Yan took us on a very fun jungle hike. Yan was the best - easy going, most friendly, and extremely knowledgeable of the jungle, the ocean and the culture of Sayulita and the whole area.
On returning to Sayulita, we left a water bottle in Yan's van. That night I received an email from MexiTreks asking how they could get it back to us. The next morning it was on our doorstep.
Great people! Great organization!
