Dr Aaron offers a fun, safe, challenging and health enhancing experience of learning about the BodyMind connection and its connection to mental and physical wellbeing. We were lucky enough to speak with Dr Aaron about his story and how his business started.

Can you tell me a bit about yourself?

I am a practitioner from NZ who came to Mexico to attend a workshop on Neurobehavioural change. I got my moneys worth, because my life changed plenty after that.

How did you land in Sayulita?

I initially planned to visit Sayulita for 3 days, but after  being in Mexico City after the Earthquake in 2017, helping care for the rescue workers and experiencing the kindness of the Mexican people, I came to Sayulita inspired and eager to help folks right now and do something meaningful rather than continue my travels through Latin America.

Tell me a bit about your background with this industry? Can you tell me about what inspired you to start your business? What services do you offer? How long has your business been in operation?

The service I love offering now is a blend of Integrative Chiropractic - I have been a qualified Dr of Chiropractic for 13 years, health psychology and behavioural change work that I have been doing for 20 years and cold exposure and breath that I have been doing for about 5 years. I do this combination to help folks that are interested, to go deeper and encourage them to be active in their own wellbeing rather than a passive 'I hope this practitioner can fix me' approach. The uniqueness of this service is the ability to test with the wisdom of body, subconscious, unresolved stress that is being carried, and working with the individual to help shift that. Not by trying to get rid of it, but by allowing the body to go deeper within in and create a new way of being so old protective patterns, over time, don't need to to have the same resistance and tension. Limbic Brain retraining.

What are your future plans for your business? Any new goals?

Future plans with this work is to continue serving more people with the Science and Art of Nervous System regulation.I currently offer this, with educational workshops, at 21day Brain focused retreat programs every month here in Sayulita. Future plans are to be able to train professional, qualified, educated facilitators that raise the level of professionalism in this field of helping people in need. Not by trying to give them answers- which can be very limited at best- but to find their own answers and dissolve their own limitations.

Can you share a happy memory with a client?

There are some pretty powerful experiences every week, but one gentleman I remember from last year, was initially very reluctant to start the work. I assured him I can totally guarantee that I can't fix him (because he wasn't broken) and I absolutely do not have his answers (because I am not that smart). He had carried a lifetime of dysregulation in his ability to feel comfortable in his own body (drugs and alcohol his typical go to). The combination of specific adjusting, neuroemotional work, breath and cold thermogensis allowed his body to feel sensations, emotions and insights that he hadnt felt comfortable feeling his entire life. To see him work through the discomfort and teach his body to feel safe with what he was experiencing, was inspiring. He really found the icebaths challenging to begin with, but after 6 weeks, he was in a totally different state. The reason I remember this story is that recently a friend of mine was doing Icebaths with a group in Playa del Carmen. She said one gentlemen was playing loud music on a portable speaker whilst doing the breath in the ice. When she asked him afterwards why he was doing this, he said a year ago, he did a series of icebath sessions in Sayulita that also involved doing neuroemotional work and adjusting, and part of his process was having music that illicited certain emotions for him, and to learn to be with that with the challenge of the cold exposure.I wanted to share that story as this man was really struggling when he started. To see his growth was a powerful thing. But bigger than that, was he was still doing the work, still creating, still evolving, one year later after learning some tools that worked for him. That to me, as a practitioner, is success.

Is there anything special that you want to share?

One last thing i'd love to share that I talk about often with students, is being active in your own healing and creating your own life. Active vs passive makes a huge difference. There is an abundance of therapies and modalities, that are very well meaning and serve a purpose, but I see so many people be passive and have a hope or expectation that this practitioner or this ceremony or this therapy is going to be the one that fixes me. Doing the inner work is where the magic lies. I've seen it time and time again.
