Alma kindly shared a little bit about herself and her business with us.
Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
I am from the beautiful city of Colima, Mexico. It is close to the ocean, the mountains, a volcano, and so many varied landscapes in one place. And let me tell you that the food is… amazing!!
How did you land in Sayulita?
I remember having a Wedding in Puerto Vallarta and heard some of the guests talking about that cute, famous little town very close from there and decided to go and take a look. And… WOW, I totally loved the vibe, the warm people, the ocean. Instantly I fell in love with it.
So just one day, I took my whole life, my 5 cats, put everything in my car, and arrived here, I'm an ocean lover, so… I was in heaven.
How long have you lived in Sayulita? What is your favorite part?
I have been here for around 4 years and still love it. One of my favorite spots is Los Muertos beach. If you hike a little more you will find amazing rocks, a view, and plenty of sea life to explore.
Can you tell me about what inspired you to start your business?
Inspiration comes from the capacity for wonder. With time and daily activities, we lose sight of the small details that happen around us. A smile, the shape of a flower, a wonderful sunset. Those little things, which always remind us that life is fast and ephemeral, are the ones worth preserving. And the best tool is photography and also videography.
What services do you offer?
Weddings, families, and couple photography. What I like the most are those beautiful candid images. To have that sensation of motion, when the image comes alive.
Tell me a bit about your background in this industry?
I have a bachelor's degree in Communication at the University of Colima., and I found my passion in photography and videography, which allows me to express the way I see the world and people.
How long has your business been in operation?
I have been doing this for other companies for many years, but finally decided to go out on my own 3 years ago.
What does your business offer that separates it from the rest?
I think all of us are different. The way each on of us sees the world based in our experiences makes us unique. I totally like to see the emotion into the image and Motion as well, to almost feel what you are feeling, to see trough. Because I know that if Im persistent enough I will be able to see that piece of soul inside, your essence.
What are your future plans for your business? Any new goals?
I want my business to grow, meet more people that see the world like me, and want me to capture their time in this world.
Can you share a happy memory with a client?
I have many. Every time I get new adventures, but what I like the most is when a client turns into a friend. I had this photoshoot with an amazing lady and her family, and after that she said she wanted a single photoshoot for her. I love single sessions with women because in the right hands, make us feel empowered, and our self-love increases very much.
After a while I went to visit San Francisco, which happen to be her hometown and we saw each other, talked a lot, and introduced me to more friends. I was able to visit so many places on that trip. It was magical.
Is there anything special that you want to share?
I think you can find amazing stories in real life, and that’s why I love documentaries and documentary photos. You will probably find me taking photographs without you even noticing. The universe gave me this amazing superpower, and I think the only way that I have to be grateful and give back for everything I have is to make people happy by getting those amazing moments for them.
