Sayulita Life’s $5,000 peso March donation goes to SayuParke. I had the opportunity to speak with Xochil Lilas, a committee member who graciously provided me with additional information on their admirable project to establish a new secure space for the children of Sayulita.

1. Who is the donation going to?

The funds are going to the Sayuparke committee, SayuParke is partnering with Ser Su Voz Sayulita A.C., a local non-profit organization that is focused on environmental education, protection, and preservation.

2. What is the organization and what do you do?

As a team of dedicated volunteers, we established the Sayuparke committee several years ago with the aim of creating the town's very first park. After identifying an appropriate location, we installed a small playset and have since been carrying out regular maintenance to keep it in top condition. Our ongoing efforts ensure that the park remains a clean and welcoming space for the community to enjoy.

4. What are some of the services you offer?

The park offers a space for all the children of Sayulita, where they can perform physical activities and host gatherings.

5. What will the money be used for?

Our aim is to enhance and expand the park facilities by investing in new and improved playsets. Previously, the park's play equipment was small and poorly made, resulting in frequent breakages. We have devised a plan to install a heavy-duty playset and other sturdy structures to address this issue. The following are some of the key components of our project:

  • High quality Playset, (made in Mexico) shipment with professional installation.
  • Sand flooring
  • 2 Swing sets
  • Community Garden
  • 4 Picnic tables for parties or homeschooling
  • Hardscaping & walls
  • Fresh paint
  • Gate, fence, and installation

Our objective is to attain approximately $60,000 USD. This project is centered on complete financial transparency, with screenshots of every transaction accessible to anyone upon request. Please note that the final playset may vary slightly from the rendering, as we are currently receiving bids from various vendors and will choose a playset that closely resembles the one pictured.
