The shelter temporarily houses women and their children from the Bahia de Banderas and Puerto Vallarta regions, and provides help with legal, health, and psychological needs for them and their children. As a registered charity in both Jalisco AND the United States Casa Esperanza sets them up to live free of violence for their futures.

On Tuesday, November 19th, the volunteer team ‘Support Casa Esperanza’ led by Emily Glos, held their annual fundraiser at The Embers! This was a fully grassroots fundraiser with everything donated and volunteered. With a goal of 100,000mxn in mind, the fundraiser included a women’s art exhibition, drinks and tapas prepared by Chef Andrea Nardo, live music, and a silent auction – items donated from various local businesses. Financial donations by local businesses like Sayulita Life, Mexhome, Terrenal and Coldwell Banker added to surpass the goal. This year Support Casa Esperanza raised $181,709mxn with the help of the community and Sayulita Life’s $5,000 donation.

This money goes directly to nourishing, rehoming, reclothing, and educating the children (who must be pulled out of school for safety) and women to ensure they continue to stay safe. But wait, can we reach 200,000mxn with the help of this Sayulero issue?
