We were at the vegetable stand where there are numerous Asian grown veggies, as well as many others. Alex became so excited when he found a bowl of green and red Shishito Peppers. He bought all that they had at the Mercado! Being that I had never even seen or heard of these peppers before, I was very curious to see how he would prepare them. I had all the ingredients he needed to prepare these awesome little peppers. I just loved the result, and they are simple to prepare with only five ingredients!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For those of you who are concerned about how spicy, or \u201cpicante\u201d these peppers might be, they are not hot at all! In fact, they don\u2019t taste like sweet peppers or hot peppers; they are unique themselves with a different flavor, and oh so very delicious!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>INGREDIENTS:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">-As many Shishito Peppers as you would like <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">-Fish Sauce. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(*Don Rodolfo\u2019s and the Carniceria near the bridge both carry this.)<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">-Soy Sauce <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(*I like to use the low sodium one with a green lid. This is also available at Don Rodolfo\u2019s.)<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">-Sesame oil<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">-Sesame seeds<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">-Sprinkle of brown sugar<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>PREPARATION:<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cBlister\u201d, or grill all sides of the peppers on the barbecue. Watch them carefully, as they blister quite quickly. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Remove from grill, and place in a bowl.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Add sprinkles of fish sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, &amp; sesame seeds to the peppers, and mix.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Taste, and adjust seasonings accordingly to your preference.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These peppers are my new \u201cgo to\u201d vegetable this year in Sayulita. I just LOVE them, and they are so easy to prepare! Thanks Alex for introducing me to them; now I keep them prepared in the fridge and have a nibble when I am in the mood for a quick snack. They pair beautifully with an ice cold cerveza!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I am not certain what my next column will be, so stay tuned.
