Photos have the magical and beautiful ability to preserve memories, tell a story, or capture moments that are fleeting; in essence, photos make all aspects of this impermanent life, permanent. Jenn Farmer, professional photographer in Sayulita, offers a wide range of photography services, whether you are a local business that needs brand photos, or you are visiting Sayulita and you want something to remember your time here, or you\u2019re a family that wants to capture your love and moments together. Jenn is extremely experienced and very talented at what she does; I talk with Jenn and she tells me more about her passion for photography and the types of photos she has the most expertise in.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Jenn, where are you originally from? When and why did you move to Sayulita?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I am originally from Cleveland, Ohio, but I moved to Sayulita after living in San Francisco, California for about nine years. I have been living in Sayulita on and off for almost five years now, and this year is my first year living full-time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>When did you first discover your passion for photography? Why is it a passion for you?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I discovered photography as my passion about 15 years ago, back in 2004. I am passionate about it because mostly I love to work with light, and also I love to show people the beauty that lies within each of them individually. I think everyone and everything can be beautiful in the right light.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>How have you gained experience in photography and learned the different techniques necessary for the type of work you do?\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I received an Associates Degree in Commercial and Portrait Photography from the Ohio Institute of Technology and Photography, located in Dayton, Ohio. During and after my studies, I worked under many professional commercial and advertising photographers in both Ohio, and California, as their head assistant. After some time, I branched off and starting shooting for SF Weekly (a newspaper in San Francisco, California), as well as photographing weddings and local events. In 2011, I started working as a freelance retoucher for Old Navy, and by 2013 I started working as a freelance photographer for Gap, where I continued working, along with other clients in the SF\/ Bay area, with a main concentration on brand photography. Up until last year of 2018, I was still working steadily with Gap. In 2018, I decided to fully branch into and focus on my own business. I now still have a main concentration on working with brands, specifically clothing brands, but I have also started implying my commercial skills into Couples Photography, as well as Family shoots, Elopements \/ Small Weddings, Lifestyle shoots, Social Media shoots, Brand, and even Surf Photography.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What would you say is your specialty when taking photos or what you\u2019re most experienced in?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I am most experienced in Brand Photography, specifically clothing brands and Events\/Portraiture. I have a heavy background in Commercial Studio Photography, but have moved into almost all natural-light photography in Sayulita, now that I live on the beach; however I still having my studio available when needed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What are your favorite things to photograph and why?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I love photographing people because I love to show them how beautiful they really are, and I love connecting with new people. Every photo shoot is a new experience for me.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What types of services could you offer a client here in Sayulita (in other words, what sort of photography sessions could clients book with you?)<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Clients can book my services for a Couples Session, Family Session, Lifestyle Session, Brand Session (clothing brand or small business branding), Studio Session (e-commerce\/head-shots), Small Wedding\/Elopements, and Personal Portrait sessions. I also offer mini Social Media sessions as well.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Is there anything else you want readers to know?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I am open for sessions not only in Sayulita, but across the Nayarit and Puerto Vallarta area.
