Since its founding, the organization has operated weekly sterilization clinics in Sayulita, supporting local families, independent rescuers, nearby towns, and animals far beyond Sayulita’s borders. Their philosophy is simple yet profound:

Prevention is compassion.

Every single sterilization reduces future suffering, improves life for street animals, eases the burden on local families, and strengthens public health.

But after 17 years of offering surgeries completely free, funding challenges have forced the program to request a nominal fee of MXN 350 per animal – a fee that is always waived for families unable to pay. The closure of their T-shirt shop (a major fundraising source) has made support more critical than ever. Events like Symphony for the Animals help ensure these services continue for the community that depends on them.

🐶 How Sayulita Animals Began

Sayulita Animals was founded in response to overwhelming needs in our town: the overpopulation of dogs and cats, lack of medical care, untreated injuries, neglected pets, and little community knowledge about animal care. Before Sayulita Animals existed, preventable suffering was widespread—and both animals and humans were affected.

Founder Sara Briner, who still operates the organization today, set out to change this reality through five core programs:

Free Spay & Neuter Clinics

Foster Program

Adoption Program

Medical Aid for Street Animals

Community Education

By addressing these needs holistically, Sayulita Animals has transformed not only the lives of animals, but also the health and safety of the entire community, reducing disease transmission, minimizing environmental contamination, protecting wildlife habitats, preventing dog-bite injuries, and creating a more compassionate culture around animals.

🌟 Growth, Impact & Community Transformation

In its first year alone, Sayulita Animals:

Sterilized 360 animals

Found homes for 40+ animals

Placed nearly 30 animals in foster care

There was also a noticeable improvement in the health of street animals and growing awareness throughout the community.

Thirteen years later, every program has more than doubled in scale. Sayulita Animals is now a leading force in regional animal welfare – saving lives, creating change, and connecting “the hearts of animals and people around the world.”

But to keep evolving, they need stable financial support. With enough backing, Sayulita Animals hopes to grow free from funding limitations and continue expanding their services until every dog and cat has a safe, loving home.

🎟️ How to Support

All proceeds from Symphony for the Animals will directly fund sterilization programs that are proven to reduce suffering and population growth humanely and effectively.

Tickets:

$50 USD General Admission

$100 USD VIP (includes welcome drink & canapés)

Dinner packages available

Scan the QR code on the event poster or visit the ticket link featured there.

Your participation ensures that life-saving work continues across Sayulita and the surrounding region.

❤️ Final Note

Sayulita Animals has been quietly doing the work week after week for 17 years.
