Approximately 30 photographers and journalists were in attendance at the press conference including Tribuna de la Bahia, La Opinion de Bahia, Bahia TV, Revista Gran Cinema and more.

Festival Sayulita's Core Vision and Purpose

During the press conference, Gabi Villarubbia explained the vision and purpose of Festival Sayulita - To highlight the best of Mexico and Sayulita. The festival itself is a completely non-profit organized event with a large core team that grows every year, and several local volunteers that help out in every aspect of the festival. The five-day event has something for everyone and in it's fourth year strong, continues to act as a positive contribution to Sayulita, Nayarit and Mexico.

Attendance

Gabi Villarubbia mentioned that last year there was an estimated 6,000 people in attendance for the festival throughout the entire week. The Jungle Live! Concert which featured bands such as Mexican Hooligans, Golden Ganga and headliners Kinky, held approximately 3,500 people at the concert venue. This year the team and managers of Festival Sayulita expect the same numbers if not more as the festival has gained much prestige and is one of the top up and coming premier festivals in Mexico.

Mexico is home to some of the finest distilleries, fantastic wine, and and exploding scene of craft beer. Festival Sayulita highlights the best of Nayarit and Mexico with specialty dinners such as food pairings. Craft vendors and distilleries can be found throughout the festival, offering samples and tastings. This year, a workshop on Mezcal will be offered on Friday at 4PM at Hotel Kapuri. This workshop is open to all ticket holders for Festival Sayulita. During the press conference, a journalist asked the importance of highlighting Mexico's food and spirits to tourism. Gabbi Villarubbia's response, "Our focus has been since year one to educate our guests that Mexican spirits can be paired with top shelf culinary food, as good or better than red or white wine! So far, we have made believers of all our guests! This year will be no different!"

A New Addition to Festival Sayulita

Last year, group workshops such as boxing on the beach with Sweat, Play, Live and a 70-person group Yoga class were added to the, "Vida" experience of Festival Sayulita. This year, the first annual BiciFest 3k/15k Bicycle race will be added to the number of activities to participate in. This race is open to all levels with two categories: Class 1, a recreational group for fun, and Class 2, a more competitive course. The race will be held Saturday, February 4th, at AM. Be sure to register at 8:30am on site or at the plaza. A $200 pesos contribution is required for the race, and kids 16 and under can join for free. The starting line is la Primaria Sayulita, on Calle Palmar. When asked about the inspiration to add BiciFest to the activities line-up, Gabbi Villarubbia said, "We have wanted to grow our 'Vida' aspect of the festival every year, adding Yoga and Fitness last year. This year the new addition is Bicifest, a world class bicycle race for all levels! We expect 150 of the best bikers from around Mexico and the world, should be amazing!"
