Hidden among mature trees and tropical gardens is this oasis in Sayulita: Casa Duende.
Each of the three well-appointed bedrooms at Casa Duende have their own private en-suite bathrooms. The downstairs King master bedroom is equipped with A/C. A high, decorative wall blocks the view into the Casa from passersby street side, and the walls surrounding the side and back of the house ensure that the grounds are totally private. Guests can relax on the large, ground-level patio, equipped with a stainless-steel BBQ, sink and bar/counter - plus make use of the built-in wood smoker for the fresh fish you'll get from the local fishermen.
The two upper level bedrooms have a palapa-covered patio, and overlook the gardens and neighboring trees. The doors to the kitchen and living room are completely screened and open up onto the patio for a lush view of the bouganvillas, banana trees, cactus plants and gardens. Casa Duende is a quick, level, 3-minute walk to the plaza and to Sayulita beach. There are no hills to walk, making this ideally accessible for all ages. There are stores nearby for purchasing groceries or other necessities. While there is no need for a car at Casa Duende, there is street parking should you require it.
Case Duende is in a perfect location, just up the street from Rollie's, by the "big rock" that everyone knows! A locally run convenience store is 4 doors down, and a local neighbourhood restaurant is just past that - making both a 30 second walk. No street noises can be heard from this oasis, and you'll delight in watching hummingbirds, dragonflies, butterflies and geckos in the gardens. It is a nature-lovers paradise!
The kitchen is ideal for making that perfect meal, with a full-size fridge/freezer, all dishes and utensils, and gorgeous parrota wood cabinets that are fully screened for cleanliness. Use the coffee and espresso maker in the morning, and enjoy a refreshing blender drink in the afternoon. The outdoor grill is also full-sized, with the wood smoker for that freshly-caught fish, and is complete with running water, outdoor counterspace and sink.
The immaculate tile floors throughout the entire Casa make the bedrooms warm and welcoming. Windows open up from the upper floor to a gorgeous view of the gardens and the high ceilings and palapa roof leave all bedrooms feeling airy and bright. Full sized bathrooms are ensuite in each bedroom, and plenty of closet space is available. All windows and doors are fully-screened.
Just follow the sidewalk for a quick, easy walk to the town square and beach. Beach towels are offered, so there's no need to bring anything with you to the Casa, aside from a bathing suit! For those quiet nights at home, enjoy a dvd or listen to music with the ipod docking station.
With the full-size laptop safe and wireless internet, check your email from the reclining living room chair or comfy counch.
Airport transfer and tours can be arranged with seating large enough for the entire rental party.
Because of the location and setup of the house, families with children are welcome!

3 weeks of Duende!
Like many of us, my work life is hectic plus. Casa Duende and Sayulita was exactly what the Dr ordered. When you stay at Duende you have access to two vacation realities. The first, the Casa itself, is a small garden of privacy and mostly tranquility. The house is lovely, really 3 whole suites, not just bedrooms. I loved the woodwork of the windows. Beautiful wood, that would be unaffordable in the US. Two kitchens, one inside, one outside; gather the best produce and catch of Mexico, stay in, cook to your full content. Eat Drink, be Merry right where you stay! With 3 weeks in Sayulita we ate over half of our meals right there on the wonderful patio, made our own Margaritas and loved every minute of it. Step out! When you you through the gate, onto the street and take the one block walk down the hill, you are in for phase two of your stay here. A quaint little town where I felt completely safe for myself and my family. There is plenty to satisfy in Sayulita. It is both laid back and offers just enough to satisfy the needs. Yes, walking out of garden gate of Duende always struck me a little surprised. We enjoyed the garden and patio completely, coming out and into our daily town routine, was looked forward to. Our Daily routine: Get up, hang out, make coffee and munch a little. Stroll! We love to walk and Sayulita is perfect for that! It is a very short walk to the beach, every morning would find us walking as far to the North as the beach allowed, maybe two miles each way? After 3 weeks our feet were polished by the semi course sand! On the way back we would go into town and to the bridge. Fresh produce, fish, chicken etc all right there. A full bag of whatever we chose ran between $5 and $10! fresh Mangos, veggies, plantains avocados, all the best you could ever find. Shrimp, fish of the day, etc etc. The BEST fresh chicken,,, REAL chicken! It all tasted so good,, there is no secret to being a great cook in Sayulita,,,BUY it, COOK it! Never miss the Sunset! a little Margarita buzz and a walk to the beach to watch the sun disappear over the Pacific.......DO NOT miss even one! Dont forgot the daily stop at Sayulita Espresso or Choco Banana! The best Capuccino EVER is right here.

Lovely!
I'm here at the lovely Casa Duende, enjoying the WIFI out on the patio, watching the sun set beyond the palm trees in the yard. So glad we chose this house! It's even nicer than the photos show, and everything just as promised... and better. The house is perfect for our family -- lots of shared space on the main floor, and with the upper rooms and palapa patio, lots of opportunities for privacy. The kitchen well meets the standards of the family chef, the gardens are green and lush and very well cared for, the rooms lovely and well-kept. The large master bedroom keeps the kids happy and close by while the adults hang on the patio, but my favourite room is the smaller one at the front -- love the open air shower and waking up each morning to an entire wall of windows looking out on the garden and swaying palm trees against the blue sky. The house is also very secure, the safe top quality, and the owners were kind of enough to let us have a foster dog from SayulitaAnimals (the property managers recommend a damage deposit, which makes sense) -- so we've had no worries at all. And the property managers and cleaning staff are fantastic -- the other day the cleaner noticed our barbeque brush was wearing down, and the next morning a whole set of new bbq tools had appeared. Can't speak highly enough of Casa Duende. Love being so close to town this year, but without all the town noise. I love how the owners and property manager thought of everything so we could literally drop our bags and make margaritas : ) Thanks Joe and Carolyn for sharing this casa with us!
