Sayulita Mexico Casa Higuera

House Features
Sayulita's most coveted Southside loca...
Beachfront location
Gorgeous ocean views
Private path to beach
Beautiful architecture and design

Sayulita is your destination for relaxing and enjoying Mexico’s rich cultural and natural beauty, and our beachfront properties provide the perfect accommodation to enjoy Sayulita’s window onto Mexican village life in a spectacular coastal setting. What sets Casa Higuera/Casa Sofia apart are their beachfront location, gorgeous ocean views, spacious and attractive design, and exclusive southside location on Sayulita’s best hill overlooking the bay - just steps away from both beach and village. Our properties are built with traditional and contemporary Mexican architectural design elements – including palapas, Spanish arches, vaulted ceilings and hand-painted Mexican Talavera tile. They are attractively decorated with Mexican arts and crafts we have collected from all over Mexico. Casa Higuera is surrounded by tropical lushness on our private, landscaped hill that meanders right down to the beach. Guests also enjoy daily housekeeping service (except Sunday).

CASA HIGUERA - 2 bedroom/2.5 bath
Beachfront home with panoramic views over the Sayulita Bay

When you enter Casa Higuera you will be overtaken by the panoramic views of the beach, bay and village. Designed in the spirit of indoor-outdoor living, the whole front of the casa opens through sliding doors onto an expansive, 45-foot long patio – bringing coastal Mexico right to your doorstep.

Casa Higuera contains two private bedroom/bathroom suites (one king-size and one queen-size), and an additional half-bath off the living room. The couches in the living room can also sleep two additional guests. You can cook all your meals in the home’s spacious, fully equipped Mexican kitchen and dine alfresco under our huge thatched palapa roof on the front patio, or in the indoor dining room. While sitting on our large L-shaped couches you can take in the view while enjoying our large collection of Mexican art books – and read about the Mexican arts, handicrafts, and antiques found throughout the house. Casa Higuera also has a shaded tropical garden courtyard that sits under the canopy of a 400-year-old Higuera tree.

Sleeps: 4-6

Size: Approx. 2,000 square feet.

Other Amenities: Safe for valuables, free wi-fi, mosquito netting, ceiling fans over beds, CD player, TV&DVD player, air conditioning, daily maid service (except Sundays)

CASA SOFIA – 3 bedroom/3 bath home
2-story/two patio beachfront home with breathtaking ocean views

Completed in 2005, Casa Sofia incorporates Casa Higuera’s tasteful architecture and design and expands them in to a two-story, three-bedroom house. When you enter Casa Sofia, you will be struck by the views -- like Casa Higuera, the whole house opens onto a huge patio overlooking Sayulita bay. Unique to Casa Sofia are the expansive, Catalan-style vaulted ceilings over the living room, kitchen, and bedroom of the top floor, built by craftsmen brought in from central Mexico.

Casa Sofia’s top floor is comprised of the house’s large, fully-equipped main kitchen, two dining-rooms (one inside and one under a huge palapa on the patio for al fresco dining), a living-room with two couches, a sun patio, and a one bedroom/bathroom suite. Through two huge French doors, the whole of the top floor opens on to the patio and view of the ocean, which can be seen from all the rooms. Through an internal staircase, you enter Casa Sofia’s lower level, where there are two bedroom/full bathroom suites, a small kitchen/dining area, and a huge covered patio with couch, chairs, dining table – and full views of the ocean. It is virtually a two-bedroom house of it’s own on one floor.

Casa Sofia will allow you to accommodate your large group or family under one roof while providing the maximum in space, privacy, and comfort.

Sleeps: 6-8

Size: Approx. 2,500 square feet

Other amenities: Safe for valuables, free wi-fi, mosquito netting, ceiling fans over beds, CD player, TV&DVD player, air conditioning, daily maid service (except Sundays)

CASITAS – One-bedroom studios
Spacious beachfront studios with ocean views

Our casitas provide you with your own private, 800 sq. ft. apartment to enjoy your visit to Sayulita. Ideal for a couple, a family of three, or just a couple of friends traveling together, the casitas provide total privacy within the openness of the studio layout. The front of the casitas open up onto the patio though a huge 12-foot wide pair of French doors that bring the ocean view and breeze right into your casita. You can cook a full meal in your private kitchen and then dine al fresco on your large, private patio.

Once you enter through your own private entrance, you will find spacious patio terraces overlooking the ocean, a full kitchen, a studio-style bedroom with a king-sized bed, a living area (with a couch that doubles as a twin bed to accommodate an additional child or adult), patio-dining under a traditional palapa roof, private bath, and plenty of closet space. You do not have to get out of bed to see the ocean!

Amazing Stay at Casa Higuera
My husband and I stayed in Casita 4 for a week and had an amazing time. The Casita is on a hill, so expect a little climb to make it to the rooms, but the views are simply stunning and well worth the climb. We had a little orange cat visit us a few nights we were there and hang out on our patio which was a fun surprise. There are gorgeous flowers, trees and plants surrounding the property, and even though you are in close proximity to the other Casitas you feel very secluded. The location is perfect. It is only a few minutes from the main town and right on the beach. I would highly recommend Casa Higuera and if we come back to Sayulita, I would absolutely stay here again.

Spectacular view and fantastic location
My husband and I recently stayed at Casa Higuera with our 4 month old baby. We were so impressed with our entire stay. We were in Casita 4 for one week and then moved across to Casita 3 for another 2 nights. The views down to the beach and town are spectacular, each casita is well positioned to ensure privacy, gardens on the premises leading down to the beach and pool are gorgeous and all of the staff are very friendly. We loved that you are completely left alone here however if you do need anything the staff are happy to help.
The location is excellent. A very short (1-2 minutes) and easy walk down to the beach and town however due to being on the hill the noise from town is very minimum.
We really enjoyed Sayulita and loved our stay at Casa Higuera. We will definitely stay there again.

Everything we were looking for
We were told about Casa Higuera by our daughter, who had stayed there before. We found it to be everything we wanted - comfortable rooms, pleasant decor, and easy access to both the beach and town. Having multiple casas and casitas was a benefit, also, because we had four families vacationing together. We were able to get together for group events, but also break up into individual families, so that we didn't get in each others hair all the time.

Super place to stay
We had a great stay in casita #3. The accommodations and grounds were excellent, as was the location and view. Marta & Martin (housekeeping & maintenance) were very friendly and kept everything in good condition. We will be back again for another stay.

Amazing location
A beautiful house decorated in traditional high quality Mexican style. The entire property is wonderfully maintained including the communal pool. I can't rate the location highly enough. Even though it's either a pretty steep hill to town or the steep stair descent to the beach, it couldn't be more convenient. After a stay here I imagine we would be disappointed staying anywhere else in Sayulita - which, as with the house, I can't say enough good things about. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Amazing vacation
We stayed at Casa Higuera for a week in Nov 2014. We had casita #6 right above the pool, with a nice big lanai out in front of our room. The casita was well stocked as far as appliances for cooking. The property was very private and we felt really comfortable walking into town at all hours. Our favorite thing was gatita Rubia, the on property cat! She cruised with us for 5 of our days there and it was really nice on the rainy days to read a book and have her hang out as we were missing our pets! Close to town and lots of great eating. Check out the lady at the bottom of the steps to the beach selling grilled shrimp and fish skewers!!! The staff here was also great and kept the room and property very nice.

Fabulous location - private, quiet, close to beach and town
Our second stay at the casitas of Casa Higuera was as marvelous as the first several years ago. Our casita was spacious, clean, very comfortable, with a well-equipped kitchen. Marta and the other staff were very friendly, helpful, and attentive. The private pool was a lovely getaway from the hub-bub of town, and the gardens surrounding Casa Higuera and casitas were beautiful. We love the location above the beach with awesome views, yet an easy walk into town. We would definitely return for another visit.

Well cared for rental.
My family had a great time converging in Sayulita and Casa Higuera was a great central place to be located. The rooms are great, as are the view and pool. We had one issue with the AC and the wonderful family that manages the property dealt with it immediately. I felt so safe having my 20 month and 4 year old on this property and it was a very easy place to all hang out together and then have individual family time for the kids to unwind. Highly recommended!

Casita 3 was fantastic!
We stayed at Casita 3 recently and really enjoyed it. The view is great, looking right down on the beach and over the town. The bed was large and comfortable. Access to the beach and the town was easy with one private trail leading right to the beach and a public trail leading right in to town, passing under the Iguana Tree on the way. If you walk the road down, it drops you right in the town square. There is also the recently built swimming pool which is great if you want to get away from the beach crowds.

What an amazing experience!
Me and two girlfriends had the opportunity to stay at casa Sofia in September, after receiving an upgrade from Aaron since Higuera was closed for maintenance. Aaron was so great, we had more than a few questions and concerns before leaving for Mexico and he was very accommodating and helpful thoughout. Sofia was awesome, two big balconies, 3 bedrooms and two kitchens no less! We felt very safe at this location, and the safes in two of the rooms were convenient. We had a resident cat, Rubia I believe, that came by for food most days, but beware of playing with her she can get feisty! Unfortunately, we had wifi for only 2-3 out of the 10 day stay which as an online student wasn't ideal, but I will give the caretakers, Mating and Martha, credit since they did call the technician twice, the wifi would then work for a day or so and then would stop connecting. Wifi can always be obtained by going downtown and having coffee at choco banana or going to el espresso. I think that this is the best location one could want in Sayulita, 30 second walk to the beach and maybe 2 minutes to the downtown core. I'm already planning my next visit!!

Response from Owner/Manager on 12-18-2014
So glad you had a great time! I wanted to say that regarding the wifi, September is the height of the rainy season and that the telecom service had a line down then. We usually have consistent wifi at Casa Higura/Casa Sofia. Thanks!
