What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture originated in China over 5,000 years ago making it one of the oldest and most commonly used medical procedures in the world. It is based on the belief that health is determined by a balanced flow of Qi, the vital life energy present in all living organisms. According to acupuncture theory, Qi is circulated in the body along fourteen energy pathways, called meridians, each linked to specific internal organs and organ systems.

There are over one thousand acupoints within the meridian system that can be stimulated to enhance the flow of Qi. When special fine needles are inserted into these acupoints (just under the skin), they help correct and rebalance the flow of energy and consequently restore health. This is painless and without side effects. Patients find the treatments very enjoyable, deeply relaxing and report looking forward to receiving them.

The World Health Organization recognizes over 43 conditions that can be treated with Acupuncture including:

Gastrointestinal Disorders: ulcers, chronic diarrhea, constipation, loss of appetite, gastritis, nausea.

Urogenital Disorders: stress incontinence, urinary tract infection, sexual dysfunction.

Gynecological Disorders: irregular, heavy or painful menstruation, infertility in women and men, PMS.

Respiratory Disorders: emphysema, sinusitis, asthma, allergies, bronchitis.

Disorders of Bones, Muscles, Joints and Nervous System: arthritis, migrane headaches, Insomnia, dizziness, low back, neck, hip, knee and shoulder pain.

Circulatory Disorders: high blood pressure, angina pectoris, arteriosclerosis, anemia.

Emotional and Psychological Disorders: stress, depression, anxiety. Addictions: alcohol, nicotine, and drugs.

Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Disorders Supportive Therapy: weight loss, decreased energy and immunity, cancer and other chronic and painful debilitating disorders.

A truly gifted practitioner who offers so much more than a conventional treatment

I have been travelling around the world for the past 5 months and was in need of some healing to replenish my energy and boost my vitality. In the past I have attended regular acupuncture therapy to maintain both my physical and emotional health and spiritual wellbeing and knew at this time I needed to find someone special for a treatment. The first day I was in Sayulita I came across Michael's shop and made a mental note of his contact details. I googled him on the internet to find out about his services and was lucky enough to get an appointment with him the next day. If you are also fortunate enough to also get an appointment with this exceptional practitioner you will be blessed. Michael is not only highly skilled in his craft but offers so much more than the conventional acupuncture, massage and healing treatment. From the time you begin your session until the end he is totally focused on you as a person and works with you to identify what it is you require for your individual treatment. He is indeed highly intuitive and applies a holistic and very personal approach when dealing with you. At no time are you made to feel like 'just another client' or that he is pushed for time. At the end of my session I felt totally reenergised, renewed, relaxed and in sync with my surroundings. If you are in Sayulita, treat yourself and spend some time with Michael you will not regret this totally wonderful experience with this very unique and special individual.

My first experience was amazing!

I recently went to Michael with intentions of a massage for a shoulder issue from paddling. Michael recommended some light acupuncture on the should to un block the meridians and help the shoulder heal quicker. I did not tell him I am deathly afraid of needles because I wanted to heal, quick! So I went for it. He explained the process very well along the way ensuring that I knew exactly what was going on ok at the moment. If you are in Sayulita and looking to try acupuncture for the first time, I highly recommend using Michael. He's properly trained and very accommodating. He finished the session with an amazing deep tissue head, neck, and shoulder massage. I left feeling energized and very relaxed. Do yourself a favor and try him while your in town.

Transformative massage/acupuncture experience

My family visited Sayulita for a seven week "family sabbatical" this winter. And one of the treasures we experienced was Michael--an amazing practitioner and teacher! He not only gave both my husband and I great treatments that healed our aches (from hauling babies and toddlers around the wild roads of the town). He recommended books and websites and introduced concepts and conversations that totally enhanced our experience in Mexico. We love him!

The Best...

I discovered Michael several years ago when I visited friends in Sayulita. He is the best, most intuitive practitioner I have ever been to (and I've been to some excellent ones!). I always make sure to get one appointment during my stay and try for two. Lucky me, I was able to see him twice this trip. It rounds out a completely blissful stay. I highly recommend him.

One of the best massages I've ever had!

Michael is truly talented. If you are looking for an excellent and intuitive masseuse, this is the man. I had one of the best deep tissue massages ever and my husband had 2 visits with Michael in one week with the same opinion. Great combined use of acupuncture and massage helped bring much relief to a problematic shoulder. Magical hands.

Best choice

I have been to Michael a few times over the last few years and enjoy every moment under his care. I am afraid of needles but find that his approach and touch is so easy that I hardly notice the sharp things! He talks you through it and the feeling of bliss overtakes you. Treat your aches and pains while you treat your mind and body to a relaxing moment. He is by far my most favorite acupuncturist (ANYWHERE) and his massages are amazing.

Total bliss

Mind blowing, or perhaps the blowing is the wrong word. It was a total bliss, what Michael created through acupuncture. I highly recommend to capture this experience of his knowing hands (tactile wisdom). Michael has been truly inspirational.
