Description

Prices are a rough estimate and can for most dates be negociated. —

Casa Serenidad in Sayulita is a stylish private 3.5 bedroom home just a few blocks from town center.

Enjoy interweaving indoor and outdoor spaces at Casa Serenidad. The design of the casa combines traditional Mediterranean architecture with American and tropical influence. The home offers a fully equipped kitchen, dining room, living room, gardens, five terraces, a 6.5 by 16.5 ft pool with an outdoor shower. The home also offers a garage.

All 3 bedrooms at Casa Serenidad open to two opposing sides allowing a breeze to go through. Two bedrooms have access to outdoor space, be it a garden, a terrace, or a balcony. Both downstairs rooms open to outdoor spaces on both sides. Each bedroom includes a king-size bed, private washroom, and bath. One king-size bed can be split into 2 individual bed upon request.

Enjoy the house, gardens, and pool in complete privacy during your stay. The first hallway as you enter from the street and the stairs leading to the bungalow is shared with the bungalow guests if there happen to be any.

The area

The house is sited in a usually quiet residential area, and we live in another house on the premise ourselves. Please refrain from loud partying at all times, and respect sleeping hours after 10 o’clock in the evening. Please understand that even shouting and very loud talking by the pool or on the terraces may make it hard for all around to sleep.

That said, please be aware that while the neighbourhood itself is quiet, Sayulita streets can be loud, and our street is no exception. We are far enough from the party locations, but still within Sayulita. Very loud motor vehicles are much in favour amongst both Mexican and ex-pat locals, and some of them are loud enough to be heard on the terraces of Casa Serenidad. Their noise isn't constant, in fact there are quiet hours (or, well, half hours), and it usually quiets down around midnight, but If you seek perfect quiet with little more than birds to hear, I recommend you look in the outskirts (north side or farther away from the centre).

During your stay

The house managers live right next door and can happily recommend the most beautiful beaches, our favorite restaurants and we can also advise activities to make your stay a unique experience (e.g. boat trips, surf lessons, Spanish classes, etc.)

House rules
  • No smoking
  • No pets
  • No parties or events
Cleaning Service :

We offer free of charge cleaning about every second day at an hour of your convenience (roughly between 10am and 3pm). (On rare occasions, this may not be possible due to sickness or some other severe cause—we’re not a hotel with a big staff).
This is not mandatory. If you prefer us not coming in, we will provide a cleaning kit, new towels and bed sheets etc. from the outside.
There is one exception: To water the plants on the upper terraces and rear gardens, our gardener will have to come through once a day. He will however never come unannounced.

Wifi

Strong and reliable internet access, with 50 Mbps+ downstream on average (35 to 75), 50 Mbps+ upstream on average (see test results in image section). (Local provider called SayulitaWifi. A few times a year, service is interrupted for a few hours sometimes on consecutive days for repairs or maintenance. This is unavoidable in the Mexican jungle. If that happens, we can give you access to the local landline modem in the property manager's house (living right next to the casa).

Garage

Doors lock, fits cars up to 16.4 ft long, 9.8 wide, and 6,5 high (or a little bit more).

Water

For drinkable water, we have a dedicated filtered water tap in the kitchen as well as a filter built into the fridge itself for making ice cubes.

Beds
— Duvets instead of blankets (and really there hasn’t been anyone yet who didn’t prefer those over a woolen blanket with a sheet). Choose between a king size single duvet for two or two individual duvets each.
— We can split one of the three double beds into two single beds if you prefer that. Just let us know.

Privacy

Casa Serenidad shares a property with the smaller Casita Serenidad, a bungalow for two (which, by the way, you’re welcome to have a look at if you travel in an even larger group). Apart from the street entrance, the two houses share no space at all. However, the small bungalow garden is facing the main garden. Soon, the green wall cutting the view will grow even denser, but for now, one can peer through the bushes.

Kids

There are no special security measures for children, however, children are precious and most welcome. If you have any special needs regarding them, feel free to ask.

Insects

The house is surrounded by gardens, smaller and larger ones, and sited in tropical jungle, not in a city. If we don’t either pave or poison everything, some critters (ants mainly), are unavoidable, particular during rain season (summer). We do however provide anti-insect spray.

Power

Sometimes in summertime (and of late, if rarely, also in winter), village- or part-village wide power outages happen. The rarely last very long and seldom happen over night but they do happen. Sometimes they are related to hurricanes, sometimes not. They can be a nuisance particularly at sleeping hours when it is very warm and both air conditioning and fans seize to work. If it happens, it usually helps a bit that each bedroom has windows on opposing sides, wich so open provides some air flow. Not an option during hurricanes though. We provide a sheet explaining what (else) to do in case of an outage (and/or hurricane). We also provide a no break technology to keep the internet running for some time in the case of shorter outages. Please understand that we are (so far) unable to help with emergency power generators as they are quite expensive and would necessitate higher rents.

Pool

Salted water, not heated and in shadow most of the time, so in winter, it can be a bit cold.

Safety

Carbon monoxide and smoke alarms installed.

Everything you need!
Casa Serinadad is an absolutely lovely house. The rooms are open and airy, they flow and meld together and have an intimate feel.
The kitchen is fabulous, well stocked and the private chef we hired made a hell of dinner in it.
The pool was super pleasant to cool off in after the beach and the rooftop patio is not to be missed.
Walking into town is super easy and you will walk by the coffee shop, produce, carnicería, tortillería, etc.
Hosts were super helpful and very responsive to questions. I notice some reviews mention noise and I would just say that the town is lively and also there is wildlife that does make noise during the evening. This is all no fault of the house and more just apart of the whole experience of this little Puebla.

Fantastic find!
We loved our stay at Casa Serenidad. The hosts were extremely responsive and attentive to our needs. The house is spacious and the amenities (pool, fully equipped kitchen, washer & dryer) are great - hard to find in Sayulita! You can walk to the beach and all restaurants easily. Much quieter than other parts of Sayulita. Casa Serenidad is a fantastic find!

All in all amazing!
We had a wonderful stay at Nikolai and Carolina’s place. The home is beautiful and feels safe. It is close to the main part of town, very walkable as long as you don’t mind going up a hill on the way home. There was excellent A/C (separate in each room), comfy beds and linens, and a well appointed kitchen. Each room has its own en suite bathroom which was so nice when travelling with a group. On top of all this, Carolina and Nikolai were very responsive from the moment we booked. They were extremely helpful and made us feel very at home and welcome. We would absolutely stay here again!

The best place to stay in Sayulita!
Our group was 6 adults and 3 babies and this place was fantastic for our group.
Locations: Couldn’t get any better. Only a 5 minute walk to the main square. We were far enough away to sleep in quiet but close enough to dip in for a taco or coffee.
The house: spotlessly clean. Minimalist and beautiful furniture. There was so much room for our group. We had full shade in the pool during the day which was great with babies but then we could head to the rooftop or second terrace to suntan and read our books.
The hosts: very very helpful and responsive from booking all the way to checkout. One host lives in the adjacent house which was nice to have her close by to check in.
Would love to stay here again. Highly highly recommend!
