Incredible!!
The Chacala Beach House is even better than you can imagine. we all fell in love with "Claudia" and her family who happily take care of the property. We absolutely loved being on the beachfront and sharing it with the locals and all the entertainment such as tubas and trumpets on the sand, the gleeful play of children in the water, falling asleep to the sound of the surf and that authentic Mexico feeling. The house provided us with room to relax, cook when we wanted to (bought fresh fish in the neighboring town of las Varas and delicious fruit that was found only steps away from the house), and we could not believe how little we spent for the amount of food (and drink) we bought at the MEGA store in the beginning of our stay.

p.s. we managed to find a guide who took us to where ancient petroglyphs are found...definitely a worthwhile activity too.

Idyllic beach home
Our stay was even better than expected. From the location to the home and amenities, nothing disappoints. Wake up every morning to views of the ocean just a few steps away. Enjoy the full kitchen and patio table if you’d prefer to cook at home. The two rooms upstairs have their own private bath, while the downstairs one has a separate bath but is just across the hall and allows everyone who’s in the common space to use. The outdoor palapa offers a ton of seating to stay cool in the sun or enjoy the marked off sandy beach area that is completely yours even on the most crowded of days. Claudia, the housekeeper, will guide you to the best taco stands, coffee, and anything else you need to make the most of your stay. She works very hard to make your stay as relaxing as possible and does an incredible job

Chacala itself offers so much for such a small town. Kayak, fishing, whale watching (for only $26/ person), hiking, and many other adventures await.

Chac Mool is the best place to grab a cup of coffee and enjoy breakfast on the beach. If you’re tired of Mexican food, they offer a great burger and pizza (better than Surfer’s).

The micro brewery only open on Friday and Saturday’s from 5-10pm is worth stopping by.

The Tapas Bar down the beach near Mar De Jade is open spontaneously but worth the hope of walking down the beach to find it open for the best margaritas, coconut shrimp, ceviche, and Sunday brunch.

The barbacoa quesadilla located across from the store La Roca was our favorite taco joint by far.

If you’re lucky and the churro stand that sets up on the street in front of the Chac Mool plaza is there, get yourself the best $.50 churro you’ll ever have.

Las Brisas next door to the house will bring you food to your palapa and their fries are the best in town.

There is NO ATM in town so be sure to have pesos with you upon arrival!

Chacala is incredibly special and is a hidden gem. If you’re lucky enough to find this place available to you, you’re lucky enough. :)

What a great location!
Relaxing vacation in a great home, friendly staff, clean sandy beach. If you want to get off the beaten path, this is it. The hiking was beautiful, snorkeling was nice, swimming in the ocean was OUTSTANDING! The beach is definitely swimmable and very child friendly as it is pure sand with virtually no rocks, shells, or seaweed! The house is centrally located, clean and well appointed. We thoroughly enjoyed Claudia's daily cleaning of the place and her friendly, helpful attitude. We loved Chacala and the people we met. Xplore Chacala taught our son how to surf and guided us on a hike through nearby petroglyphs. Great get away and beautiful home and town!

Great beach house with Mexico vibe!
We had an amazing holiday at the Chacala Beach house. As two families we wanted the convenience of an all inclusive on the beach but with flexibility for food and excursions. We found it ALL for kids 3-13 years old with interests ranging form boogie boarding, sand castle building, swimming, fishing, hiking, volley ball, and just hanging out.

Location - right on a beautiful beach (nicer than Sayulita's) with amazing sunsets and unlike most other houses in Chalcala, just outside the compound gates are groceries, tortilla-ria, juice bar, surfer pizza (they deliver!) - everything you need. All of the locals are really friendly without being pushy and accommodate those without Spanish with friendly smiles. We ran a tab with the restaurant next door to have nachos and beverages delivered in the afternoon, breakfast buffet and great dinners at affordable prices and they take credit cards, otherwise bring pesos. Or choose to eat in and the owners insist you let Claudia, the daily housekeeper, do ALL of the dishes.

House - right on the beach with great sunset view and we felt very safe and comfortable with the indoor and outdoor layout. Beds are comfortable, rooms are spacious and each have an en-suite . Sleeping arrangements are flexible, but each bedroom opens and locks to the outdoor compound area. So, with young children who need night access to their parents the casita is perfect with 1 bedroom, plenty of sleeping space for 3 children and a kitchen. Main Kitchen is small but comfortable, outdoor dinning space is great, good lounge chairs, but no couch or lounge zone inside. We loved that the house came with beach towels, boogie boards, beach toys and private palapas on the beach.

Activities - we did excursions every other day including hiking the local volcano, fishing with Roberto (caught 3 yellow fin tuna in 2 hours!), hike to petroglyphs, local market day at la Penita and a great trip to San Blas to take a river tour to see crocodiles, birds, turtles followed by a swim - all were fun for all ages and very chill.

Transportation - as a group of 9 we highly recommend contacting Trini's Shuttle Service. Juan met us at the airport, took us on all the excursions on our time and had lots of local knowledge and advice including great inexpensive restaurants and all without the "tour" feel. The convenience was amazing and the cost was less than renting cars / van.

Fun village, great beach and plenty to do - without the hassles of crowded all-inclusives.

Loved every minute of our stay
This review is primarily for the La Casita apartment rental.

We spent one week at the beach house and loved every minute! Las Casita is well-appointed, comfortable and the location is utterly unbeatable. The apartment was perfect for our little family. Claudia and Roberto, the caretakers, are onsite and extremely approachable and helpful. Chacala beach is great for young kids, and while Chacala is small, it has enough tiendas and restaurants for most needs.

We also had the good fortune to meet the owners, who are extremely kind and genuine people. I would highly recommend this property for people who are looking to spend their time on a lovely beach without a whole lot of distractions. There are lots of options for things in the area which are best reached by a rental car.

Magical property right on the sandy beach - loved it!
We had a magical stay at the Chacala Beach House Casita last week. The casita more than met our expectations and the photos hardly do it justice for one cannot appreciate how few steps there are to the water's edge or the special reserved spot on the beach under our palapa....though no 'reservation needed' as one day we were the only ones on this spectacular curve of Mexico's coast!

We made good use of the exclusive rooftop of the casita seen in the website photo, enjoying morning coffee and evening cocktails with our family who visit Chacala often and were equally impressed with our great score! The Casita is just beautiful and we discovered new artistic 'touches' on a daily basis with its charming decor. All aspects of the apartment were in superb condition, more than adequate space, fully equipped kitchen, modern appliances, tasteful furnishings and the bed was very comfortable for us fussy sleepers. Our space was tidied up nicely on a daily basis by a warm and welcoming 'Claudia' who lives on the property and was a terrific resource for us.

Chacala itself was another wonder. Such a quiet, tiny and laid back place to be...super restaurants, music, charming old and new structures of all kinds and a very friendly atmosphere altogether. All we can say is that our time there was too short and we really look forward to our next visit!!

One week just wasn't enough!
We just arrived home to snowy Canada after spending a week at this beautiful beach house. We had been to Chacala on day trips via boat before, but decided to spend a week here this time around and I'm really glad that we did. We spent most of our time enjoying the private beach area and the huge patio. We found there was no need to cook as it was just the two of us and the restaurants that surround the property were really good and would deliver directly to us if we felt like staying in. Claudia and Roberto were really great to have on site. We also toured the new one bedroom apartment and were impressed by its size and modern appliances. We will definitely be returning.
