Each month Sayulita Life gives back to our community. For the month of April of 2021, Sayulita Life has chosen to donate to the Sayulita Jaibos Baseball team. The Jaibos Baseball team has officially been participating in the Nayarit Baseball League for the last six years, but has a long tradition of playing in Sayulita. Ran entirely through contributions and volunteers, the team is always in need of extra community help and support. Eduardo Castillon Guerra, President of the team and President of the Administration of the Manuel Rodríguez Sanchez Stadium (Sayulita’s Baseball Stadium), explains that the donation from Sayulita Life will help to purchase expensive and much needed equipment for the team.
The Jaibos baseball team is made up of a roster of twenty five players with a five person coaching staff. The players vary in age from 14 to approximately 26 years old. Castillon and his team of collaborators are dedicated to the vision of providing the experience of baseball, while also promoting the traditions and values of Sayulita to our youth participants.
Castillion states, “We use donations for the purchase of needs of the equipment, since baseball equipment is very expensive. We use it for the purchase of the balls, bats, and we are also in the process of completing a batting cage that only professional teams have. The Jaibos team has a great tradition in Sayulita for many years, but in the participation in this league, called Liga de Béisbol Invernal de Nayarit, we have been playing for six years. This team is maintained through the contributions of all the people who attend the meetings, and from donations from businesses in the town of Sayulita.”
You can see the Jaibos Baseball Team play every Sunday on Sayulita’s baseball field on the Northside of town. Come show your support and help to cheer them on to the playoffs!
