Casa Quetzal in Sayulita is a Mediterranean, romantic and charming house with traditional arches. The home is on four levels and accommodates seven guests. The roof is one big terraza, with hammocks and a barbeque to enjoy wonderful star gazing and great whale watching from November through May. The views of Sayulita and sunsets are just amazing from here!

On the next level down is the main floor boasting a well-equipped kitchen, dining room, and living room, all in one generous open space, with doors that open up all the way to three sides to enjoy the fresh air and breathtaking views. From this expansive view, you can see the village of Sayulita, San Pancho, and even the three 'Islas Marias' on a clear day. The kitchen is simple, with granite counter-tops, breakfast bar, fridge, and stove and fully equipped with what you need for dining the comfort of Casa Quetzal in Sayulita.

Three bedrooms are downstairs each with King size beds and amazing ocean views. The master bedroom has a view of the ocean, hillside, and wild jungle. The master bedroom also has its own bathroom and private terrace. The other two bedrooms on this floor also have king size beds share a shower and a toilet, but each have their own sink and closet area and each open up to views of the ocean and sky. New sliding screen doors made from local parota wood were installed in November, 2019.  The fourth bedroom has a single bed, is on the lower level but opens up to a large patio and views to the sea. We provide mosquito netting for all beds. There is a washer and dryer available and use can be coordinated with Abel and housekeeping.

Casa Quetzal in Sayulita is surrounded by the garden, flowers, and fruit trees bearing papayas, bananas, grapefruit, limes, oranges and grenada apples, and several small patios sprinkled about with hammocks or small tables with chairs for extra private corners.
Guests can enjoy Casa Quetzal's salt-water pool (4x7 meters) with patio overlooking the ocean and pool shower. Maid service is offered 3 days a week and a caretaker is in charge of the pool and garden.  More services available if requested. Please note there is no AC but plenty of ceiling fans and a pool for cooling off. With fresh ocean breezes, air conditioning is not needed for much of the year. Please note as with most homes in Sayulita there is no fence around the pool and the home is high on a hill with balconies. For these reasons, Casa Quetzal may not be suitable for young children.

Amazing home & hosts
Casa Quetzal was better than we even could have even imagined. Incredible views from every room and area of the property, it was an amazing place to stay during our time in Sayulita. Great location with quick access to the beach and a short walk to town. We are a family of 5 and felt very comfortable with room to spare. The hosts are very responsive and provided great local recommendations. Hope to be back again!

Views are incredible!
Casa Quetzal is a unique and gorgeous property. The hill was definitely a challenging climb but the amazing views from almost every angle made it all worth it. Renting a golf cart would make things super easy!

10/10 Recommend
We loved our stay at Casa Quetzal! Beautiful house with incredible views. We rented a golf cart for the steep hill which made everything super convenient. The house was clean and comfortable. Our only complaint was having to share the living room with ants that only came out in the evening, but both Jamie and Abel were super responsive and helpful regarding this! Highly recommend this home!

Wonderful traditional Casa with some modern perks
We stayed at Casa Quetzal in March of 2020. Jamie has a gorgeous home in Casa Quetzal. It combines the "old world traditional" with many modern comforts making it a desirable vacation home on the quiet North end of Sayultia. We fell in love with the views from all levels of the home. Sunrise from the the balconies of the main level, listening to the birds and the waves roll in, hoping the spy a whale breach now and again. Spending the day at the pool level, lazily floating the hours away watching the ocean. Sunset with a glass of wine on the rooftop. We always ended our nights on any level, gazing at the stars, the full moon and listening to the distant sounds of music from the village. We were pleasantly surprised by the modern appliances and conveniences of the kitchen. Coffee maker, espresso pot, coffee grinder, blender, toaster, plenty of pots and pans, a crock full of kitchen utensils, full set of gorgeous Mexican pottery plating service, nothing was missed. The casa came "beach ready" with bag chairs, an umbrella, a small cooler. A couple of blow up floats made floating in the pool comfortable. We found the bed in the room we used to be very comfortable. He has added sliding doors to the bedrooms, which allow the ocean breeze to flow in at night, making for a comfortable night's rest. A few words about "the hill"; it's no joke. You are on vacation, please, there is no need to be a Crossfit Cowboy... just get the cart! If you want exercise, use the cart for the hill and park it at the bottom, you an walk to and from town. Also, be sure to be specific to the cart companies where you are staying, so they will provide a cart capable of the hill. If a company wants to charge an exorbitant deposit due to you being on the hill, move on to another company. We also found many taxi's and transportation services do not like to come up the hill, we saved money by meeting our taxis either in town or at the bottom of the hill for day trips. If you plan on renting a car, be sure to request a 4 wheel vehicle, we helped one unfortunate soul get their rental unstuck from the side of a tree after it slide partially down the road. As noted in the description, this home is not for those with young children or with mobility issues. All access from level to level is on the exterior of the home (lots of steps, some without hand railing). We appreciated the proximity to the quiet beaches of the North end. We were far enough away from town to be out of the hustle and bustle, but still feel apart of the village. This home was an excellent value for the money.

Amazing views
We stayed at Casa Quetzal for several days at the end of Jan 2020. The house is clean and well maintained. The roof top view was spectacular. We spent one evening watching whales breach. The road to the house is steep but doable if you want to walk or drive. We didn't get a golf cart but that probably would have been convenient. Great place for couples or families with children who are a little older. Jamie and Abel were great to work with. Thanks!

The number one feature of this house was the view. It is absolutely incredible. The photos just don't do it justice. The rooms are basic but have everything you could need. Beautiful views from the rooms as well. The pool was really nice but when we were in Sayulita it was pretty cold so we could not use it. All of the reviews had us prepared for the hill. The house itself is a short walk to the beach and easy on the way down but it is a trek on the way back. We got two golf carts for 7 people and that was perfect. It rained one of the days making it hard to navigate with the golf cart and hill but other than that, no complaints!

Absolutely fantastic
Awesome Casa in the hills of the jungle overlooking the spectacular ocean. PERFECT location, very close to town. A golf cart, in my opinion, is the best way to get to and from town (VERY steep, narrow roads) so look into that, they are a lot of fun. Abel was wonderful with communication and helping us with a few small things. This is a very special property that does not compare with anything else in town!

We had such an amazing time at Casa Quetzal!
The walk up the hill is intense, but we grew to love it. The views make it so worth the trek and a little exercise to work off all the amazing food in town doesn’t hurt. Abel was quick to respond and always brought us more water when we needed it. The house cleaners came mid stay and refreshed all of our towels too. Such a wonderful experience. We can wait to return! Space wise — we had 7 ladies and it was the perfect size for us. Thanks so much!!!
