Casita Solanita in Sayulita is a beautiful space we built for ourselves just a few years ago. Located in a great neighborhood near other vacation rentals, with a good mix of locals and expats. Our property has three units, one other rental, (Casa Solana), and a full time live-in property caretaker. Our house is 5 blocks from town, and close to the beach. It's a private place in a great location that's perfect for couples and solo travelers. The space is bright and sunny and has an amazing jungle view and shared pool!
The space
Our Casita is a split level apartment, situated one level up from the ground. It was built over an existing storage shed, and has a spiral staircase that goes to the first floor. The first floor is the bedroom, bathroom and living area with a desk and a small outdoor patio. We have large glass and iron doors that open completely, giving the space a very open feel. The ceilings are high and the space is super light and airy with a great breeze always coming through. The upstairs is also accessible via a spiral staircase and has a large kitchen, and outdoor dining area. The kitchen is covered by a palapa, or grass roof. The outdoor dining, lounge area has a large table, a built in seating area and a hammock. The jungle view from up top is stunning. Because our place is split level and has spiral staircases, we don't recommend it for young children. It's bright and colorful, and quiet and perfect for couples or solo travelers. We now have a brand new shared pool and patio!
Guest access
The property has three units. Another rental house with an apartment upstairs for the full time live in care taker. Guests will have access to Casita Solanita and but not to the other rental unit. There is a yard and garden space below the casita and a shared pool and patio area.
Other things to note
Our Casita, although spacious, is not built to withstand large numbers of people. Small gatherings are great and encouraged, but large parties of more than 8 are not acceptable for the space. Again, both levels are accessible by a spiral staircase, so please use extra caution when going up and down the stairs.
