ABSOLUTELY Amazing!! and, that view!
LUXURY. COMFORT. BEAUTIFUL. Definitely recommend staying here -- that's basically all you need to know, seriously (but actual details below).Alejandro was amazing from the minute I started inquiring about his Villa. He provided so many details about the villa and options to accommodate my guests. We had a group of 7 (5 in late twenties/early thirties, and 2 in late 50's) celebrating my dirty 30.We arrived in an afternoon and used the airport shuttle service Alejandro recommended. This was very affordable and so easy! Our driver stopped at a grocery store (very similar to a super walmart/target) on our way to the villa in order for us to stock up on household supplies, food, snacks...and alcohol. The place he took us was also very reasonably priced. There was also a currency exchange onsite (so recommend probably doing it there vs. at the airport and/or in town). We opted to have Laura prepare dinner for us night 1 - best choice (highly recommend it)! Her authentic Mexican dishes were so delicious - we also had her make breakfast our first morning there.Being at the top of the hill, there was always a really nice breeze that came through. I loved the folding doors getting from inside out to the pool deck. The pool was perfectly heated/maintained everyday and we hung made a point to hang out there everyday - dipping in the pool, enjoying the views, playing music and having some drinks. Honestly, you can't get enough of that view & those sunsets.Having 3 master suites was ideal for evenly accommodating everyone, and splitting the rental costs. We did utilize one of the extra beds which was setup in one of the bedrooms upstairs for us. The rooms are all spaced for some privacy from the group if ever needed, and optimal views from each room. Every room and living area has an individual AC unit which were great for combating the humidity and sleeping comfortably.Laura tidy up'd the place each day - making our beds, sweeping and changing out the trash. The one thing I do wish was different, is that we could have gotten fresh towels. We would hang our towels on the hooks to dry after showering, and when she straightened up the used towels would get refolded and set out for us to reuse (I'm a tad excessive of a germ/clean freak though, so using someone else's used towel was icky for me).An additional thing to keep in mind, this area is very much the jungle (bring bug spray). The upstairs common area between the bedrooms is open to nature, which is great for lounging and taking it all in. However, there absolutely are bugs (mosquitos, spiders, ants, moths) that come with being in this area. We got attacked (jokingly) by a giant moth one night on the stairs going to bed, which later, we couldn't stop laughing about - but in the moment, was terrifying. Haha. Be conscious of any open food, sweets, etc.Alejandro was great throughout the stay! On our first morning we didn't have hot shower water so I sent him a quick text and he immediately checked on the water heater (which had been switch off from the heavy winds the day prior), we had hot water again within 10-minutes. We would see him in passing some mornings and he was always very friendly and pleasant. At first, we had decided to use Alejandro's ATV for getting around town - which would make sense for most groups because the hill to get up to the villa really is one of the steepest in Sayulita (but again, that comes with an amazing view). Also, most of the electric rental golf carts from in town probably won't make it up that hill if I had to guess. But once our 7th guest arrived on day 2, we couldn't all fit on the ATV.We did taxis each day to get to/from town. We probably could have handled the incline walking, but for my 50/60-year old parents (with the heat & humidity), it really would have been too exerting. We did have about 4 taxis stall out/overheat or only make it half way up the hill. The wait is about 10-mins from the time you call them to be picked up, and a few dollars each way. This was my whole groups first time to Sayulita, and Alejandro's villa and hospitality solidified return trips for us all. My mom is very much a resort-only kind of person for Mexico trips so she was hesitant to not stay at a large, well-known resort. Thanks to Alejandro's perfect villa, both of my parents loved everything about Casa Colorin and Sayulita, and want to plan future family vacations here. We all felt completely safe the whole time here, and having Alejandro right next door added to our comfort. I recommend this home to anyone looking for relaxing comfort and luxury and/or still having the excitement/adventures in town so accessible. Realistically, not ideal for kids given the steep hill and stairs for the entry and inside the home. Truly, top notch.
