The MOROCCAN bungalow is situated on a large grassy promontory, fragrant with plumeria and night blooming jasmine. Two distinct levels separate the two master suites, each with its own ensuite bath. Sleep peacefully with the lull of the surf and soft Pacific breezes, and wake to the chattering of exotic birds. Cooking is a pleasure in your fully-equipped kitchen opening onto the living room and ocean views. Enjoy eating in your dining room, or outside on the large oceanside deck with barbeque. There's ample space on the deck or the plush lawns to stretch out and unwind on a chaise lounge by the pool while enjoying the view of the surf and the village of Sayulita below.

Roses in bloom surround the ENGLISH COUNTRY bungalow which features a custom-designed ensuite bath with a riverrock waterfall flowing into the spacious tub - Perfect for two! Outside, sleepy iguanas hang leisurely in the treetops and squawking parrots fly brightly overhead. Beyond your front door Monkey Mountain rises majestically in the distance. Beautiful place, great location and great staff!
The house and garden/pool area were amazing. All very well kept. Amazing view of the ocean from the pool. The house was far enough from town to able to fall asleep while parties are still going. House manager was absolutely wonderful - very attentive and helpful.

Beautifully kept grounds with an amazing view!
We just spent our first Christmas away from home at Casa Kukana and had a wonderful stay. The house and grounds are stunning, and having Santiago available for anything you need really made the visit extra easy and comfortable. We fell in love with the town and always had a blast riding up and down the hill in the golf cart! I am a confirmed home-body and for once I did not want to go home, which never happens to me. Thank you again, we loved it!

Great place to stay in Sayulita!!!
Just finished our 3 week stay at Casa Kukana - a private two bedroom unit that is attached to a larger home, on a hill just above the main square and beach at Sayulita. Totally gorgeous ocean and jungle views from the bedroom, kitchen, living room, and private terrace. Even from the shower. We have stayed at one of Suzanne and Summer's other places on past trips, and were thrilled that they had a place available for us this time as well, because they are amazing hosts and have created some gorgeous properties. There are 2-3 flights of stairs from the street to the Zen Garden and pool, then a short flight up to the unit. We spent hours in the pool just reading books or enjoying the view of the beach and surf break below, or moving into the outdoor lounge under the palapa when it got a little too warm. Perfect spot for people who want peace and quiet but don't want to be too far away from town. It's about a 5 minute golf cart ride or 10 minute stroll to the plaza. There is golf cart parking right at the bottom of the stairs if you need it. My wife and I stayed in the attached room at Casa Kukana, while our 11 year old stayed in the bedroom/bath immediately downstairs. It was a good mix of privacy/proximity for our family. Santiago and Asuzanna, the caretakers, were a huge asset, and took care of anything we needed from helping with bags to arranging taxi service to making sure the place was spotless every day. Definitely recommend!

Just returned from 10 days at Casa Kukana. I stayed in the English Bungalow with my wife and two little ones. Everyone agrees it was the most relaxing trip we've taken. The property is a meticulously groomed oasis that makes you feel like you've moved up a tax bracket or two. It is easy to let the day unfurl slowly just lounging and watching the action in town right from the pool, and the stairs that are mentioned to prominently in many reviews are just long enough to make you feel remove from the hubbub but short enough t o allow quick runs into downtown Sayulita for that one forgotten item. Santiago, the caretaker was a great help and resource. We stayed in the English Bungalow, which was a bit cozy for a family my size, but perfect for a couple or someone with an infant. I think we will splurge on the Morroccan next time. It is stunning.

Breathtaking! Our first visit to Sayulita - definitely not our last!!
We spent 12 nights at Casa Kukana (March 20 - April 1, 2015), we were 2 families (4 adults and 3 teens). The adults stayed in the Moroccan and the teens bunked in the English Cottage. Everyone had their own space and privacy.
Suzanne arranged our transportation to and from the airport (small extra charge) that included a stop at the Mega to buy groceries.
This accommodation was perfect. On our arrival we were greeted by Suzanne's son Jason who ensured that everything was up to our expectations and that we had everything we would need to start our vacation.
The house was fantastic - comfortable and had everything we needed, including great new BBQ. Only suggestion - maybe a curtain to separate bathroom in downstairs bedroom?
The yard was more beautiful than we could have imagined - immaculate, private and quiet. Coffee by the pool each morning included the perfect beach view - watching the locals push the fishing boats in, or the surfers waiting for the perfect morning wave. What a way to start each day.
Short walk to beach and town maybe 7 - 10 minutes, but be prepared for a hike on the way home. The view is perfect because the house is on a hilltop - so expect a climb each day. We would short cut through Villa Amor and often were up and down three times, took the guilt out the beach margaritas!
Suzanne also owns the Buddha Bar and Lounge in town - we had drinks there one evening, definitely worth a visit!! We will try dinner next visit.
Special Thank You to Santiago and his wife for looking after our housekeeping and always helping with information for excursions, sights to see and keeping an eye on our girls when they were in town!

A Hilltop Piece of Heaven!!
My husband, one year-old daughter and I just returned from a week at Casa Kukana. It was our first time in Sayulita, and our experience could not have been better- largely thanks to Suzanne, her staff, and her incredible property. The house itself is breathtaking, with each of the two accommodations being equally amazing and very separate/private. There is a communal large grassy area with a palapa, chaise lounges, the most beautiful and pristine plant life, and an infinity pool that overlooks the ocean and beach. It felt almost too beautiful to be real!! We stayed in the Moroccan, which has a front balcony/porch the entire length of the unit. The views from the room were absolutely phenomenal!! From the property, it is 185 steps down a meandering staircase through the jungle-like vegetation to get to the beach. From there, it is a 5 minute walk along the ocean's edge to the heart of downtown. The walk back up was always an adventure!! We originally thought we would rent a golf cart for the fun of it, but ended up loving the little exercise the steps offered...not to mention the beauty of the walk! The added bonus was the ability to take a refreshing dip in the amazing pool each time we returned. I cannot say enough about Casa Kukana and highly recommend it to families, couples, singles and anyone else!! Thank you so much, Suzanne and staff!!!

Amazing View and Gracious Host
My husband and 15 year old daughter stayed here for 5 days and had a great time. It was a very well taken care of - beautifully decorated, very clean, garden beyond expectations. Everything worked well. Host very communicative and responsive, but respective of our privacy. Would stay there again for sure! Only thing to note is that the beach is down the hill - which makes the view so amazing, but you need to be fit to walk up and down the stairs. We loved the walk, as the stairs were safe, well built, decorated and landscaped. There were also these little cute crabs going up and down the stairs occasionally. Plus a very nice pool at the top, and the ocean below. Very quick talk to town and the main beach. Perfect location.

Most beautiful spot in Sayulita
My boyfriend and I have stayed at Casa Kukana twice in the last two years, and it is absolutely amazing. We have stayed at the smaller, 1 bedroom Garden casita and the larger Moroccan casita. Both are wonderful; the Garden for great accomodations at an unbelievable price, and the Moroccan for being just a breathtaking place to spend a week. The views are unbelievable. Suzanne has really built an incredible oasis for you to enjoy on your stay. The grounds and pool at Casa Kukana are just the best that I have ever seen. I just can't imagine why anyone would stay anywhere but here on a trip to Sayulita?!

The Best
I spent two weeks at the Casa celebrating my 70th birthday. It could not have been better. From the time I left the airport and had the driver hand me a beer I knew things were going well. I climbed the short steps to Kukana and gasped..the grounds .. so incredibly manicured and loved by the daily gardener-Ti..?? Absolutely a jungle garden experience. Santiago and his wife Asucunia are the managers. Your accommodations are their responsibility and they are wonderful!! A 5 minute walk takes you to Playa de muertos near the cemetery. What a wonderful beach for swimming. Children, dogs, parents and the occasional paddle board folks..A young and beautiful young woman swims daily with her young son and white lab. You can see them swim for hours. I am trying so hard to re-capture the beauty, sounds, smells and feelings. I can't wait to rebook. Susanne-the owner-is the sweetest, most caring and incredible woman. She had created a castle in the sky. Thanks! Laru
