Throughout the last 2 months Sayulita has seen heavy rains and many storms and due to this the Streets of Sayulita have suffered. While workers continue to finish up paving the main streets of downtown, other small side streets are almost if not completely blocked off due to erosion from rains. Just last month it was impossible to drive up Calle Libertad leading to the Punta De Mita Highway and drivers had to find other alternative routes. During this time of year a four wheeler or 4x4 vehicle is the only way to get around town, however on some of the more remote streets even these forms of transportation won't work.
Leonardo Rosales owner of Macro Heavy Equipment rentals says he has received phone calls after every heavy rain storm this year to go out and level out streets with gravel. Home owners who have problems reaching their properties that are located on some of these washed out streets can hire a backhoe for $400 pesos an hour and buy gravel fill for $1,000 pesos to level out the streets.
Residents on Nanzal hill are forming an association to improve the road, and maintain it year round. Necessary services such as the gas tank trucks, water trucks, and other large vehicles are having too much difficulty in getting up the steep Nanzal hill. With still over a month left of our rainy season residents in other neighbourhoods are pitching in to cobblestone the local streets and improve the roads in general.
Durante los últimos 2 meses, Sayulita ha recibido bastantes tormentas y, debido a esto, las calles de Sayulita han sufrido mucho. Mientras los trabajadores siguen trabajando en el pavimento de las calles en el centro, otras calles se encuentran casi o completamente bloqueadas para pasar debido a la erosión por las lluvias. El mes pasado era imposible pasar por la calle Libertad subiendo de la Avenida Revolución hacia la carretera a Punta De Mita y los conductores tenían que buscar rutas alternativas. Durante esta época del año una cuatrimoto o un vehiculo 4X4 es necesario para facilitar el transito por el pueblo, y aun así en algunas calles ni esta forma de transporte funciona.

Propietarios que tienen problemas para llegar a sus casas pueden contratar un tractor por $400.00 pesos la hora, y grava por $1,000 pesos para arreglar las calles.
Los residentes en la colonia Nanzal están formando una asociación para mejorar las calles y mantenerlas todo el año. Servicios necesarios como lo que es el gas, agua y otros vehículos grandes ya no pueden subir a Nanzal con facilidad. The Costa Verde International School opened its doors for the first time on Monday August 18th to welcome their first intake of children. After months of planning and preparation Principle Adriana and her staff greeted the 50 children who have been enrolled at the school, of which 30 % have been awarded scholarships, and the school's international roll-call is impressive with Mexican children from Sayulita and other towns.
In addition to children from the USA, Argentinean, Canadian, English, French, German, and Italian families have also enrolled their children with CVIS. With 8 teachers presently on the staff, children are guaranteed personal attention and the school's "whole child" approach to education will encourage each child to develop their talents and skills as well as better understand their position in the world and the environment.

CVIS abrió sus puertas por la primera vez el lunes 18 de Agosto para dar la bienvenida a su primera entrada de los niños. Después de meses de planificación y preparación Principio Adriana y al personal a su cargo saludó los 50 niños que se han matriculado en la escuela, de los cuales 30% se han concedido becas, la escuela y el pasan lista internacional de llamada es impresionante con los niños mexicanos de Sayulita y otros ciudades más niños de familias de América, Argentina, Canadá, Inglés, francés, alemán, y italiano. 3. Born in Sayulita? Originally, my wife and I won a trip from Canada to Puerto Vallarta in 1981. We stayed at the Camino Real hotel in Vallarta and made a conscious decision at that point that one day we would call Mexico our home. In 1991 we came back to Puerto Vallarta and picked up a local magazine advertising homes and one caught our eye in a sleepy, fishing village called Sayulita. We rented a car and traveled to Sayulita; 4 hours later we found a property and purchased it.
3. Nació en Sayulita? Originalmente mi esposa y yo ganamos un viaje de Canada a Puerto Vallarta en 1981. Nos hospedamos en el Hotel Camino Real y tomamos una decisión conciente de que algún dia llamaríamos a Mexico nuestra casa. En 1991 regresamos a Puerto Vallarta y tomamos una revista local de casas en venta, y una nos llamo la tencion en un tranquilo pueblo pesquero llamado Sayulita. Rentamos un carro y viajamos a Sayulita, 4 horas después encontramos una propiedad y la compramos.

5. Family history & information? I have been married to my wife Janette for 30 years and combined we have a total of 6 children. Our daughter Andrea lives in Sayulita, as well as two out of 19 of our grandchildren, Sean and Maya. We also have 1 and a half great grandchildren.

7. One positive change you have seen in Sayulita? A positive change I have seen is the standard of life for the local people of Sayulita. I mean the increased job opportunities, business opportunities, new sewage treatment plant as of a year and a half ago, greatly improved infrastructure in the past 10 years, new streets and schools.

8. One negative change you have seen in Sayulita. That's a tough one. One negative change in Sayulita, I would have to say would be maybe a little too much expansion too quickly for the utilities, as I feel they are having a bit of a tough time keeping up.

Also continue to work towards the betterment of the community while showing visitors the genuine friendliness that we sometimes talked for granted in our community.
10. Alguna recomendación o comentario que quiera hacer a la gente de Sayulita? Mi recomendación a la gente de Sayulita es que continúen trabajando juntos para mejorar la calidad de vida de este hermoso pueblo. Además, continúen trabajando en la mejora del pueblo y, al mismo tiempo, le muestren a los visitantes la genuina simpatía de la que hablamos en nuestra comunidad.
