Sayulita has received more and more publicity from North American newspapers, and magazines and was even the location for an Adidas commercial that came out at the beginning of this year. Articles and write ups about Sayulita have brought much attention to the town and brought more tourists as well. Over the last couple of years Sayulita has been in such magazines and newspapers as USA Today, Santa Barbara Magazine, Surfer Magazine, The Seattle Times, The Toronto Globe and Mail and many more. Travel & Leisure Magazine published an article about Mexico's next great beach towns in October 2007 and Sayulita is featured on the list. In the April 2008 edition of Maxim magazine Sayulita is also featured in an article on the hottest extreme travel destinations of 2008.
Last summer Sayulita locals, foreigners and tourists were invited to participate as extras in the new Disney movie "Beverly Hills Chihuahua" also known as "South of the border". Parts of the movie about a lost dog that needs help finding his way home were filmed along the beach and in downtown Sayulita.
The movie which stars Drew Barrymore, Salma Hayek, Piper Perabo, Jamie Lee Curtis and Andy Garcia will be released in theatres this week on October 3rd 2008.
Check out today's New York Times Travel Section under the Escapes column. The article about Sayulita will provide destination goers with more information about the town of Sayulita, interviews with different business owners, and will also list a few real estate properties for sale in the area. With all this positive publicity, people of Sayulita hope that tourism for the upcoming 2008/2009 season will increase, despite economic problems in the United States.

Artículos y anuncios sobre Sayulita han llamado mucha atención a nuestro pueblo y mas turistas. En el transcurso de los últimos anos Sayulita ha salido en unas revistas y periódicos como USA Today, Santa Barbara Magazine, Surfer Magazine, The Seattle Times, The Toronto Globe and Mail y muchos más. La revista Travel & Leisure publico un articulo sobre los mejores pueblos por el mar en México que salio en Octubre de 2007. Ahora este ano en Abril, Sayulita salio en la revista Maxim, en la lista de los destinos mas extremos de 2008.

3. Born in Sayulita? I am originally from Mexico City, although I have traveled through different parts of the world and Mexico, until finally settling down in Sayulita with my long-time live-in girlfriend Sara.
3. Nació en Sayulita? Yo soy originario de la Ciudad de México, aunque he viajado por diferentes partes del mundo y de México, hasta que finalmente me asenté aquí en Sayulita con mi novia con la que he vivido mucho tiempo.
4. Education level: I finished high school/ preparatoria in Mexico City. Afterwords, I studied fine arts and crafts from a branch of The University of Mexico City in Oaxaca, Mexico, where I developed my lifetime craft and talent.

5. Family history & information? I have lived and been with my girlfriend Sara since studying in Oaxaca. I have one human daughter, who is 6 years old named Maren, who lives in Amsterdam, Holland. Currently we live with our 5 kids, dogs to most people, here in Sayulita.
5. Vive con su familia? Cuántos son? He estado y vivido con mi novia Sara desde que estaba estudiando en Oaxaca. Tengo una hija humana que tiene 6 años de edad llamada Maren, que vive en Ámsterdam, Holanda. Ahorita vivo con nuestros cinco hijos, perros para la mayoría de la gente, aquí en Sayulita.
6. Employment/business history. I first began renting bungalows in Oaxaca, Mexico, where Sara and I saved up enough money to open our first fine arts and crafts store in Sayulita 3 years ago, located on Calle Marlin. We have since moved to our new location, as of 5 months ago to Calle Revolucion.

Empleo/Negocio/Ocupación: Primero empecé rentando búngalos en Oaxaca, México, donde Sara y yo ahorramos suficiente dinero para abrir nuestra primera tienda de Artesanía y Joyería Fina en Sayulita, en la calle Marlín, hace 3 años. Entonces nos mudamos a nuestra nueva locación, hace cinco años, en la calle Revolución.
7. One positive change you have seen in Sayulita? I think the influx and influence of tourists and their ideas for conservation have really added new projects as well as a new way of thinking to the local community and schools.
7. Algún cambio positivo que haya observado en Sayulita? Creo que el flujo y la influencia de los turistas y sus ideas para la conservación han realmente añadido nuevos proyectos así como una nueva manera de pensar a cerca de la comunidad y la escuela.
8. One negative change you have seen in Sayulita. I unfortunately feel that locally there seems to be a focus on money. The locals are selling off their land and investing in materialistic items, including big cars, fancy stereos, etc., and that they under-value the importance of education.
8. Algún cambio negativo que haya observado en Sayulita. Desafortunadamente creo que localmente pareciera que todo se enfoca en el dinero. Los locales están vendiendo sus tierras e invirtiendo en cosas materiales, incluyendo grandes coches, estéreos caros, etc., y que no valoran la importancia de la educación.
9. How do you imagine Sayulita in 10 years? That question can go two ways: One option, is if the current administration of the Bahia de Banderas decides to focus on education and the development of our culture, it will be a paradise. However, on an opposite note, if the current administration simply turns their back and focuses on money, things will inevitably become negative.
9. Cómo imagina Sayulita en 10 años? Esa pregunta puede ir por dos caminos: una opción, si la actual administración de Bahía de Banderas se decide a enfocarse en la educación y la mejora de nuestra cultura, va a ser un paraíso. Ahora, por el contrario, si la actual administración simplemente le da la espalda y se enfoca en el dinero, entonces se convertirá inevitablemente negativo.
10. Do you have a recommendation for the people of Sayulita? My recommendation to the people of Sayulita is to keep an open and positive frame of mind. To work together and help each other as most brothers and sisters. The future may sound a little cliché, but it really lies in our own hands.
10. Alguna recomendación o comentario que quiera hacer a la gente de Sayulita? MI recomendación para la gente de Sayulita es que mantengan una mentalidad positiva y abierta. Que trabajemos juntos y nos ayudemos unos a otros como hermanos y hermanas. El futuro, puede sonar un poco a cliché, pero en verdad esta en nuestras propias manos.
