The recycling team, "Sayulita Recicla", has been working hard in Sayulita to spread the message of how important it is to recycle garbage and help keep our environment clean.  The recycling truck goes around Sayulita emptying the recycle bins every morning from Monday to Saturday. From the truck, the recycling goes to the recycling depot located on the Punta De Mita road west of the intersection for Sayulita. All of the items are then sorted between cardboard and plastics. Cardboard products are now sent off to Guadalajara and plastics sent to Tepic. "Sayulita Recicla" is soon approaching it's one year anniversary in Sayulita. We continue to invite all Sayulita's residents and guests to pitch in and do their part to preserve our environment.

The new SayulitaLife.com community webpage for the recycling project with much more details can be viewed here.

This coming year, founder Tracy Willis, says that there will be 30 new containers set up around town for recycling materials only. There is a big need for volunteers to help pick up recycling and also sort it at the recycling depot in town. Anybody who wishes to volunteer this year and be part of the "Sayulita Recicla" team can speak to Tracy at Choco Banana Restaurant in the town square.

Not so long ago, Reggae was virtually the only music one heard in the bars of Sayulita. However, today techno-lounge music is "rigue de jour".   Sayulita's love affair with live music is alive and well.
The popular "Salsa Nights" at Don Pedro's (Mondays) and Dragon Rojo (Wednesdays) are testament that Salsa is the "rythme" that gets the hips of visitors and residents swinging and enthusiastic learners are eager to emulate the fluid sexiness of aficionados.

Sayulita's adopted band "Los Tikkilyches" (pictured above) took a few weeks off but returned on Saturday night to deliver another pulsating set at "A Bicyclette" . Meanwhile Joe King has a residency at Dragon Rojo and other restaurants regularly feature musicians with more relaxing music styles.  Make sure to get out and enjoy some of the great bands playing in and around Sayulita this year.

6. Employment/business history: I first worked in Don Pedro's in the bar downstairs as the captain. Unfortunately soon after I was without work but I wanted very much to stay in Sayulita. During the low season I worked a little bit in construction and cement work for my rent, then I decided to make tamales and sell them along the beach. I lived for 5 months selling tamales here in Sayulita and then I worked for Don Coyote's which was where the red dragon is now. I worked in the kitchen as one of the cooks. By February of 2001 I opened the Terrazola with just 4 tables and chairs and the little kitchen area. Now we have had a lot of success and for that I'm grateful. I think people really like our southern flavour and Mexican cuisine from the south of Mexico.

10. Do you have a recommendation for the people of Sayulita? I'd like to see the people of Sayulita plan for long-term projects and think about the future and what is best for everyone in town in the longrun.
