The annual free bazaar will be held Saturday, April 25th, 2009, between eight in the morning and three in the afternoon, on Calle Miramar, in front of the bookstore. Everyone is encouraged to bring, sell, and buy items at this annual event.
For years, around the end of April, people have loosely gathered items for sale in what could be construed as a big yard sale. This year, Sandrita Rodrigues of Sandritas Bakery, will be organizing the event. Sandrita will be providing free refreshments and snacks for the community throughout the day. She will even sell items for people who cannot stay for the entire Bazaar. Just give her the items and the approximate price of each one and she will do her best to sell it.
Bring a blanket or small table to place your items, as well as an umbrella for shade. Across the street, in front of Noe Plascencia's, the current Judge/ Mayor of Sayulita's home, there will be space available as well. That side gets the afternoon shade, so there is no need to worry about sunburn. For those that need an umbrella, Sandrita will have 3 extra ones available to use for no charge.
The best of all, the cost to have a space is nothing...nada...ziltch! Just show up and sell. Everyone is encouraged to come and come early, as space is limited. If you have any questions, please contact Sandrita directly at sandra.in.mexico@gmail.com
El Bazar Sábado Libre Calle Miramar
El bazar anual libre tendrá lugar el sábado, 20 de abril de 2009, entre las ocho a la mañana y tres en la tarde, en la Calle Miramar, en el bloque, frente a la librería. Todos están invitados a llevar, vender y comprar artículos en este evento anual.
Durante años, en torno a finales de abril, la gente tiene poco se reunieron los elementos para la venta en lo que podría interpretarse como un gran patio de la venta. Este año, Sandrita Rodrigues, será la organización del acto. Sandrita será proporcionar a las personas con refrescos y aperitivos gratis para la comunidad durante todo el día. Ella incluso vender artículos para personas que no pueden permanecer para toda la Bazaar. Sólo le dan los elementos y el precio aproximado de cada uno y hará su mejor venderlo.
Simplemente traer una manta o pequeña mesa para colocar tus artículos, así como tal vez la sombra de un paraguas. A relatively new and committed association is hoping to negotiate a better deal for local homeowners being asked to regularize their properties in Sayulita.
Recently we told readers a little more about CORETT, a federal organization set up to regularize land ownership in Mexico.
Locals who purchased houses and land using the "presdanombre" or name lender system are being asked to pay a set price per square meter - 800 pesos - to title their land (a bank trust is further required to "regularize"). CORETT has advertised a 50 per cent discount plus an additional 20 per cent reduction for those who pay right away in one lump sum (320 pesos per square meter).
Since news of the next phase of CORETT regularization came out, an organization has been formed that is right now working to liase with the federal body regarding this issue. The association is hoping to negotiate a better deal.
The members of this association include not only local homeowners in the affected area or zone, but also local business owners, who some say are concerned that CORETT´s actions could lead to bad press for Sayulita, which has over the last decade become a popular vacation area and a place which many Americans, Canadians and Europeons have made their second home.
While some homeowners have paid the currently stated CORETT fees, others are waiting to see if another arrangement can be made via intervention from the association. Association members are currently refraining from commenting to the press. However, a local Realtor told El Sayulero the most recent letter from CORETT head office in Mexico City does not provide a full update on the situation.
He was referring to a letter from Armando Rodriguez Cervantes, the director of operations for CORETT, sent out on March 31, stating the price in Sayulita remains $800 pesos per square metre, although the $320 pesos discount price is still available. That letter is posted on the local CORETT office window in Sayulita. But the realtor said the local association has sent the federal body a proposal for an alternate rate and payment schedule.
The realtor explained that CORETT has not responded to this proposal to date, although it is hoped a response will be forthcoming soon

Una nueva asociación se ha comprometido y la esperanza de negociar un mejor trato para los dueños de casa está pidiendo a regularizar sus propiedades en Sayulita.
Recientemente le hemos dicho a los lectores un poco más acerca de CORETT, una organización federal establecido para regularizar la propiedad de la tierra en Mexico.
Locales que compraron casas y tierras a través del "presdanombre" prestamista o el nombre del sistema se les pide que pagar un precio por metro cuadrado - 800 pesos - a título de sus tierras (un banco de confianza es más necesario para "regularizar"). If you aren´t already planning to go, don´t miss next Thursday´s free showing of the inspirational surf film sure to please wave lovers of all ages, Walking on Water.
The film, which has toured around the world over the last year, will be shown at the basketball court next to the baseball field here in Sayulita on April 30, at 7 p.m.
Organizers will bring in a large portable screen and projector to accommodate this outdoor showing, explained Paul Cathey, who is helping to coordinate the Sayulita event. The evening will also include prizes, gift baskets, surf clothing and DVDs, something for everyone.
"We are coming to hopefully be a blessing to the community!" Cathey wrote in an email to El Sayulero last week, adding the film has been viewed by many people in different countries but this is first time in Mexico.
Walking on water comes from the same producers of the award winning surf films The Outsiders and Noah's Arc. Surfers and non surfers alike will be thrilled as they view the world through the eyes of a pair of young surfers embarking on an unforgettable adventure. The film features future surf stars Luke Davis and Tyler Hallen, who in the making of this movie had experiences most wave riders can only dream about.
When Bryan Jennings, director of Walking On Water, was fourteen he was taken on his first surf trip by a local professional surfer - the experience impacted him greatly.
In Walking On Water, Jennings returns the favor when he takes Davis and Hallen literally around the world to bring them a taste of the same inspiration he once knew, with stops at famous breaks in Hawaii, Peru, Australia, Indonesia, South Africa, and France. Also featured in the film are three-time world champion surfer Tom Curren, young shark attack survivor Bethany Hamilton, and many more.
In 2003 Hamilton, who was then just 13, was on her surfboard in Kauai's North Shore (Hawaii) when a large shark quite literally bit off her left arm just below her shoulder. Not only did Hamilton recover and continue surfing after the attack, she has also written a best-selling book about the experience -Soul Surfer - and is now a motivational speaker and businesswoman.
Walking on Water is a Non-Profit Organization that runs surf camps and also funds film production, as well as world wide film tours and outreach programs.

As we wind down our "high" season, I hope everyone is both happy and healthy. The weather has been fantastic to us this year, there has been plenty of tourist action in the past months, and Sayulita has received many generous donations of both volunteer time and donated items. Our current general donation acceptor, as well as contributor, Heather Murray, will be leaving Sayulita in a few weeks, and won't be returning until October.
While Heather is away, donations are now being welcomed and accepted at the Sayulita Bookstore on behalf of The Amigos de Sayulita. The bookstore is located on Calle Miramar on the north end of town. The Sayulita Bookstore will be distributing all donated items to those that need them the most throughout the summer months.
Throughout the season, Sayulita has experienced wonderful generosity, from the many donations of supplies to volunteers dedicating their energy and time for the Centro de Salud, both the Primary and Secondary schools, the Daycare and so much more. Our little community has been blessed by these people and the actions taken by the locals here as well, and Sayulita says, "Thank You!"

A medida que el viento en nuestra "alta" la temporada, espero que todo el mundo es feliz y saludable. El tiempo ha sido fantástico para nosotros este año, y ha habido mucha acción de la oferta turística en los últimos meses. These twin female puppies were found five days ago abandoned on Litibu beach. They were very interested in human contact, following their rescuer down the beach to her car. They were first adopted by a family that unfortunately did not care for them well, and the puppies were rescued a second time from the highway. Eventually these resilient puppies were brought to SayulitAnimals, starving and in critical condition. They are now being cared for in foster care but are in urgent need of a permanent home. They are adorable Mexican mutts, black with white paws and floppy ears. It would be wonderful if someone would adopt both of them as they really want to be together. At their young age, they have already had a long journey in survival and deserve a loving home.

Llamé a un amigo que había estado diciendo a mí una y otra vez que quería un cachorro para su hija de 6 años. Ella estaba encantada de recibir ambos. Al día siguiente cuando me vio y preguntó acerca de los cachorros (dos niñas) dijo, "oh, que se han ido, no sé dónde han ido". Un día más tarde me encontré uno de ellos junto a la carretera, dormir y los devuelve a la mujer. Un día después, uno de ellos fue llevado a Sayulitanimals encontró en la calle de nuevo. Nos mantuvieron durante un día y ayer me encontré con el otro cachorro. Es, de hecho, de hambre y en una etapa crítica. Ellos están en hogares de guarda, pero necesitamos urgentemente un hogar donde se están tomando el cuidado de, simplemente son bebés y no puede dejarse solo a sí mismos. Son típicos de México mutts, patas de color negro con blanco y orejas flexibles. Sería maravilloso si alguien adopte tanto de ellos como ellos realmente quieren estar juntos..

The dream of professional computer teacher, Patricia Duarte Marquez, and Principal Armando Galvan Rodriguez, as well as hundreds of secondary level students, has finally become a reality!
With tremendous support from Grupo Pro Sayulita, as well as the successful fundraiser last month and many others; on Wednesday, April 22, thirty one brand new computers were set up and installed at the Secondary School of Sayulita.
Numerous people were on hand at the new computer labs unveiling, including Hector Quintero, President of the State Board of Education in Nayarit. He said that the Secundaria of Sayulita was the only school in the whole state to receive thirty one new computers. When El Sayulero asked Patricia how she felt, all she could say was," It is the second favorite day of my life!"
Internet will also now be available to all computer students who attend the Secondary School. In an age where computers are an integral part of life, both Armando and Patricia feel that computers are just as important to learn as Mathematics, Spanish and any other subject in the current curriculum.
Visitors who would like to see the new facility for themselves are more than welcome. They are encouraged to contact either Armando or Patricia to set up an appointment at the Secondary school, which is located at the top of Avenida Revolucion and the Punta De Mita highway crossroad. Nuevo Laboratorio de Computación
El sueño de los maestros, Patricia Duarte Márquez, maestra de computación y del director, Armando Rodríguez Galván, así como cientos de estudiantes de nivel secundaria, se ha convertido finalmente en una realidad!
Con el tremendo apoyo de Grupo Pro Sayulita, así como del éxito de la fiesta para la recaudación de fondos, el mes pasado y muchos otros, el miércoles 22 de abril de 2009, 31 totalmente nuevas computadoras fueron armadas e instaladas en la Escuela Secundaria de Sayulita.
Numerosas personas fueron a la inauguración del nuevo laboratorio de computación, incluyendo a Héctor Quintero, Presidente de la Junta de Educación del Estado de Nayarit. Dijo que la Secundaria de Sayulita es la única escuela en todo el estado que ha recibido 31 nuevas computadoras.
Cuando Sayulita Life le preguntó cómo se sentía, todo lo que se pudo decir Patricia fue "es el segundo día mas feliz de mi vida!"
Internet también estará disponible para todos los estudiantes que asisten a la Escuela Secundaria. En una época en la que los ordenadores son una parte integral de la vida, tanto Armando como Patricia creen que esto es tan importante de aprender como lo son matemáticas, español y cualquier otro tema en el actual plan de estudios.
