All I can say is WOW!
Our family of five just finished 9 days at Casa Puesta Del Sol and I will try my best to accurately depict what an amazing property this is!
Nestled in the Northern end of Suyalita, approximately 45 minutes from Puerta Vallerta Airport, lies Casa Puesta Del Sol. For those of you trying to decide on whether or not to rent a car, you absolutely do not need one. The heart of Sayulita is only 10 minutes away and the road is relatively flat, with the exception of a small hill or two. You do see quite a few golf carts traveling throughout the town, if you'd rather not walk.
My first impression after being dropped off by the car service was that this place is safe and secure. The property is enveloped by stone walls, covered with lush tropical vegetation, with two gigantic doors and a locked double gate if you decide to bring a car.
Once inside the compound, all the windows have ornate bars protecting them and all the doors have locks on them.
The irony of all this is that the crime rate is incredibly low in Sayulita and you'll see both local and tourist kids running throughout the area at all hours having a great time. That being said, I like knowing my family is safe.
The actual house is beautiful and incredibly large, covering three stories. We had 2 adults, a 17, 15, and 12 yr. old with us and had an over abundance of space. I'm guessing this place could easily accommodate up to 8-10 people and still not be cramped! 3 of the 4 rooms have wall mounted A/C units and you'll also have (8) ceiling fans and (8+) free standing fans to keep you cool as well.
The main floor of the house was my personal favorite for hanging out, playing cards with the family, or taking naps in the most epic hammock I've ever had the pleasure to sway in. Just an FYI, it overlooks the pool and the ocean simultaneously! One of the bedrooms, a bathroom, a fully stocked kitchen, and a huge terrace area are located on this floor.
The top floor of the house is an absolute sanctuary from the rest of the property, almost like a separate apartment. It has a spiral staircase leading up to it and has it's own full bathroom, refrigerator, digitally locked master bedroom, and a large seating area with an unobstructed view of the ocean.
The downstairs has 2 additional bedrooms, a bathroom, and the main access point to the pool deck.
The pool was also one of our favorite features as it was way bigger than the pictures indicated and it literally overlooks the ocean as you escaped the heat in its cool waters. The kids were able to play with the assorted pool toys while Mom and Dad caught some serious rays on one of the (6) lounge chairs! There is also a myriad of additional chairs and tables, some in direct sun and some shaded, for your use as well!
The housekeeper, Aida! She was incredibly friendly and even cooked us an authentic Mexican dinner, Chili Rellenos, one of the nights for $10 (US) a person. It was soooo good!
Books galore! Over the years the house has collected a hodgepodge collection of paperbacks in each and every one of the rooms. I knocked out two of them in the aforementioned hammock during our stay!
Safes! There are two industrial strength safes in the house for you to keep your valuables safely nestled in.
In closing, our family had an amazing family vacation here and can't wait for another opportunity to stay at Casa Puesta Del Sol!
