Sayulita is your destination for relaxing and enjoying Mexico’s rich cultural and natural beauty, and our beachfront properties provide the perfect accommodation to enjoy Sayulita’s window onto Mexican village life in a spectacular coastal setting. What sets Casa Higuera/Casa Sofia apart are their beachfront location, gorgeous ocean views, spacious and attractive design, and exclusive southside location on Sayulita’s best hill overlooking the bay - just steps away from both beach and village. Our properties are built with traditional and contemporary Mexican architectural design elements – including palapas, Spanish arches, vaulted ceilings and hand-painted Mexican Talavera tile. They are attractively decorated with Mexican arts and crafts we have collected from all over Mexico. Casa Higuera is surrounded by tropical lushness on our private, landscaped hill that meanders right down to the beach. Guests also enjoy daily housekeeping service (except Sunday).

CASA HIGUERA - 2 bedroom/2.5 bath
Beachfront home with panoramic views over the Sayulita Bay

When you enter Casa Higuera you will be overtaken by the panoramic views of the beach, bay and village. Designed in the spirit of indoor-outdoor living, the whole front of the casa opens through sliding doors onto an expansive, 45-foot long patio – bringing coastal Mexico right to your doorstep.

Casa Higuera contains two private bedroom/bathroom suites (one king-size and one queen-size), and an additional half-bath off the living room. The couches in the living room can also sleep two additional guests. You can cook all your meals in the home’s spacious, fully equipped Mexican kitchen and dine alfresco under our huge thatched palapa roof on the front patio, or in the indoor dining room. While sitting on our large L-shaped couches you can take in the view while enjoying our large collection of Mexican art books – and read about the Mexican arts, handicrafts, and antiques found throughout the house. Casa Higuera also has a shaded tropical garden courtyard that sits under the canopy of a 400-year-old Higuera tree.

Sleeps: 4-6

Size: Approx. 2,000 square feet.

Other Amenities: Safe for valuables, free wi-fi, mosquito netting, ceiling fans over beds, CD player, TV&DVD player, air conditioning, daily maid service (except Sundays)

CASA SOFIA – 3 bedroom/3 bath home
2-story/two patio beachfront home with breathtaking ocean views

Completed in 2005, Casa Sofia incorporates Casa Higuera’s tasteful architecture and design and expands them in to a two-story, three-bedroom house. When you enter Casa Sofia, you will be struck by the views -- like Casa Higuera, the whole house opens onto a huge patio overlooking Sayulita bay. Unique to Casa Sofia are the expansive, Catalan-style vaulted ceilings over the living room, kitchen, and bedroom of the top floor, built by craftsmen brought in from central Mexico.

Casa Sofia’s top floor is comprised of the house’s large, fully-equipped main kitchen, two dining-rooms (one inside and one under a huge palapa on the patio for al fresco dining), a living-room with two couches, a sun patio, and a one bedroom/bathroom suite. Through two huge French doors, the whole of the top floor opens on to the patio and view of the ocean, which can be seen from all the rooms. Through an internal staircase, you enter Casa Sofia’s lower level, where there are two bedroom/full bathroom suites, a small kitchen/dining area, and a huge covered patio with couch, chairs, dining table – and full views of the ocean. It is virtually a two-bedroom house of it’s own on one floor.

Casa Sofia will allow you to accommodate your large group or family under one roof while providing the maximum in space, privacy, and comfort.

Sleeps: 6-8

Size: Approx. 2,500 square feet

Other amenities: Safe for valuables, free wi-fi, mosquito netting, ceiling fans over beds, CD player, TV&DVD player, air conditioning, daily maid service (except Sundays)

CASITAS – One-bedroom studios
Spacious beachfront studios with ocean views

Our casitas provide you with your own private, 800 sq. ft. apartment to enjoy your visit to Sayulita. Ideal for a couple, a family of three, or just a couple of friends traveling together, the casitas provide total privacy within the openness of the studio layout. The front of the casitas open up onto the patio though a huge 12-foot wide pair of French doors that bring the ocean view and breeze right into your casita. You can cook a full meal in your private kitchen and then dine al fresco on your large, private patio.

Once you enter through your own private entrance, you will find spacious patio terraces overlooking the ocean, a full kitchen, a studio-style bedroom with a king-sized bed, a living area (with a couch that doubles as a twin bed to accommodate an additional child or adult), patio-dining under a traditional palapa roof, private bath, and plenty of closet space. You do not have to get out of bed to see the ocean!

Better than expected
I stayed at the Casita 1. The place is better than I expected. It’s already beautiful when you look at the pics online, but when you get there is even better. Amazing views, very clean, very nice decoration, and very very private. Props to the architect who designed it. Even the bed mattress was very good. The house is right in front of the main part of the beach, close to where all the restaurants are, but you can’t hear anything when you are up there. Also very close to the square/downtown area. I was very impressed with the Casita. Top notch.

But i’d like to add that, if you are older, or not healthy/fit, you might consider somewhere else. There are 71 long steps from the house to the beach, and about the same from the front gate to the little downtown. It was a workout. Every single time we got back to the room we had to go straight to the shower.. But you can’t get that amazing view without being up high, so pick your poison.

Another great stay
This was our second time staying in Casita #4 and we still couldn't be happier. Great location, beautiful view, awesome pool and friendly people. The worst part was having to leave. We used the transportation service suggested by the owner and everything came together without a hitch. Hoping we can make it again next year!

Amazing place to stay!
My wife, toddler & I stayed in Casita #3 for 5 nights. We loved it! Dealing with Aaron & Kristine to get the rental set up was super easy and hassle free. Once we were there, Marta & Martin were amazing. They keep the entire property perfect at all times. Highlights were: the views, location, gardens around the entire property & the path that leads directly down to the beach equipped with a great shower for rinsing after.

Incredible location, great stay
We had such a wonderful time at the Casa Higuera/Sofia compound. We were a large group and rented all but one of the casitas. The whole place is amazing. Great location, well kept rooms, nicely decorated. The staff is super friendly and helpful.
The pool is lovely and you can walk right down to the beach. The grounds are kept really well and there are so many interesting plants and birds to watch. I cant wait to go back.

Beautiful oasis so close to town, yet feels like one is far from the busy & crowded town.
Service was wonderful; very helpful all around. Katherine, Martin, Martha, and their crew.
Casita #5 was perfect for the two of us, with plenty of room. Really enjoyed the spacious palapa patio. Nice to have everything we need.
Really appreciated the beautiful gardens, flora and fauna. Admirable that you left the bottom part of the property as garden/forest!
This was a real gem and will highly recommend your property to others.

Perfect Oasis
We booked this accommodation based solely on the photos and reviews and they absolutely exceeded our expectations. Having never been to Sayulita, we did not know what to expect and were thrilled to find this oasis-like complex of casitas and gardens high up on a hill overlooking the bustling surfers beach and beyond to the quiet white sands of the north. We stayed in Casita #3 from March 3-10, 2018 and it was perfect. We lived on the terrace enjoying breakfast, afternoon siestas and evening cocktails in between our trips down the hill into Sayulita and surrounding beaches. We met terrific people each afternoon at the pool - many of whom had been coming to the same place for 12 years - who gave us great tips about where to eat and what to see and do. The gardens surrounding the casitas and pool are stunning and the effort put into maintaining the meandering paths, the palapas topped casitas and the overall accommodations is evident. The owners have chosen lovely local art and incorporated the best of Mexican architecture to make you feel like you're living in a tree-house away from everything else. We were taken care of beautifully from a quickly solved booking error on our part to easy-to-follow driving directions provided to us to a helpful binder of information that was left in the casita. I would highly recommend this oasis and look forward to a future trip.

Perfect Family Vacation
Our vacation was perfect in Casa Higuera. We were close to the beach and the town, the manager was friendly and supportive, and the home was BEAUTIFUL! We were there with my two children, my husband, and in-laws, and three weeks later, we are still dreaming of our wonderful stay. We will be back every year!

Quiet oasis with beautiful views!
We had a wonderful stay in Casita 6, below Casa Sofia. After a very delayed flight and long day in the airport to get there, we arrived at 2am to a beautiful casita and a private garden patio. We were relieved and loved our home for the week. Everything we needed was there with caretakers close by in case anything went amiss. The cobblestone stairway down to the beach was a quick easy walk to the main beach area. We would just walk down closer to the North end to spend the day or a quick jaunt over to Playa de los Muertos where there is better swimming. There's a quick path down to town or a slightly longer route taking the road. In any case, everything was very close by! We planned on getting groceries and cooking in our casita but after realizing how good all the food is in Sayulita, we decided to treat ourselves and eat out every day.

We loved our garden patio and privacy. We didn't spend time in the pool but it's a lovely area to spend time if you don't enjoy the beach and ocean swimming. It was quiet and safe for sleeping and away from all the night life. Overall, it was a great place to stay and super close to all that you need. We recommend it!

During the Christmas week we were there it was very busy in town and on the main beach. I recommend going at a quieter time of year unless you love lots of people and night life. Despite the busyness you can still find some solitude no matter what.
