1 block to Plaza - 3 blocks to Beach - Excellent Internet
From luxury linens to richly-colored art, beauty is the defining feature of Casa Leyenda. Located one block uphill of the plaza, restaurants and the main beach can be reached in minutes. Ocean views are sweeping, from both inside the Casa as well as outside. Two air-conditioned bedrooms have king-size beds and private baths. Internet speed is unmatched, and the local team is always there for you.

❁ Wi-Fi is Excellent ❁
Internet speed is the best in the area. Expect solid video conferencing and uninterrupted performance.
❁ Downtown Location ❁
Expect some nighttime noise.
❁ Steep Hill-Climb ❁
The 1.5 block walk from the Plaza is steep.

Both bedrooms are large, have air-conditioning (a/c), king-sized beds, and en-suite bathrooms. Luxury linens promise comfort, and each room is decorated with richly-colored Mexican textiles and art. The master bedroom has sweeping ocean views, and accesses the ocean-view terrace. The second bedroom has peek-a-boo ocean views; it has less direct sunlight, so perfect for sleeping.

Ocean-View Terrace:
The terrace has a view that sweeps across the Plaza and onto the ocean. It is fully furnished for dining, and has a gas grill. It is accessed via the master bedroom.

The kitchen is fullly equipped, and is a beautiful place to be creative. Block-style skylights above brighten this space with filtered, natural light. A counter-top bar invites friends to sit and chat, and you’ll find high-end cookware, coffee prep, pottery dishes, and beautiful blue glassware. A shared 1/2 bath near the kitchen is conveniently located for common use.
The kitchen does not have a/c.

Living area:
The living area is open to the kitchen, and has a large dining table that accommodates 6-8 people. The couch is hand-made of solid wood, and a loft functions as an added sleeping area. The carpentry of loft - ladder, railing and shelving, is hand-done with quality wood and quality workmanship. It is a beautiful nook with a twin-size bed, and together with curtains and star-lights, it becomes a dreamy frame for any child’s imagination. A built-in fan keeps it comfortably cool.
The living area does not have a/c.

Carport and garden:
A carport is available to park a car, or to park and charge a golf cart, and to store surfboards. The path from the carport to the house passes through the garden, which is packed with banana, papaya, heliconia of all types, exotic plants and flowers; and as a result, attracts hummingbirds, chachalaca (like a Mexican turkey), and parrots.

❁ Location: Downtown.
The Casa is located above the Plaza on Gringo Hill, which is the very steep hill directly behind the plaza. It overlooks downtown Sayulita and provides a peaceful perch. The Plaza is a 3-min walk, the main beach and surf break is another 3 minutes.
❁ Internet: Excellent.
Leyenda internet speed is reliably the best in the area. The Casa has a phone line dedicated entirely to internet, and internet use is limited to guest use only. Telmex internet speed is partly determined by a downtown location; the best internet is in town, and slows with distance from city center. The property manager in Sayulita is vigilant about maintaining connectivity and speed.
❁ Nighttime Noise:
Downtown Sayulita has a number of clubs and bars, and they often don’t get started until after 11 pm. Casa Leyenda is mostly affected during the Easter and Christmas Holidays. All other times, closing the windows is usually sufficient to block the noise, and we also provide earplugs to help out. The trade-off is convenience, quick beach access (5 min, 3 blocks), and robust internet.
❁ Hill Climb:
The 1.5 block walk from the Plaza to Leyenda is very steep, so be prepared to burn calories! Ocean views are available from every room. Your hill climb pay-off.
❁ Security:
The Casa is extraordinarily safe. It is accessed through two digitally locked gates- the first enters a car port, and the second exits the garage to access the Casa and Casita.
❁ House-keeping:
There are no additional charges for cleaning, which are generally scheduled every 4 days.

❁ Property Management:
-For over 10 years Casa and Casita Leyenda have had the same same property manager with the same cleaning staff (really wonderful girls) and gardeners.
-Security is their high priority, and they have an impeccable security record.
-The property management team has a physical location at the Plaza with open hours daily. They are immediately available at all times.

The following are available to you:
Excellent High-speed WIFI internet connection
Air conditioning in bedrooms (not in the kitchen nor living area)
Carport for on-site parking
Security gate
Hotel-style safe
Gas barbecue grill
Filtered water
Beach towels
Drip coffee maker, coffee grinder, blender, toaster

Guests have access to the entire Casa, Terrace, Garden and Car Port.
The car port entry and exterior stair is a shared entrance to both Casa Leyenda and Casita Leyenda. Casita Leyenda is located above the Casa. Parking in the car port is dedicated to the Casa, exit and entry through it is shared with Casita guests.
❁ Casita guest traffic: Guests staying in the Casita above Casa Leyenda share entrance gates and the stairs. Expect guest traffic past the Casa (stairs leading to Casita) when the Casita is occupied.
❁ Casita: If you need additional sleeping space, ask us about renting Casita Leyenda. It is a free-standing studio apartment located one flight of stairs up. It has a king-size bed and also a couch that will sleep an additional adult. It has spectacular views from the terrace and expansive roof-top deck.

Please use the contact form to get in touch with any questions or to request a reservation. Casa Leyenda is the perfect place for a group of friends or family looking to stay in a comfortable home in the center of town. A spacious studio casita is also available on the same property -View here. Or if you require more space, the studio & main home are available as a joint rental for 6-8 guests - View here.

Nancee and David have a gorgeous home on the hillside in Sayulita. A few things I would highlight if you are considering staying here: -Location: unbelievable. You’re a two-minute walk down the hill (maybe three or four on the way up :)) from the main square and five to ten from the beach, but the hillside is on the brink of Sayulita’s jungle-like outskirts. Truly the best of both worlds. Some noise does make its way up from town, but if you close the windows at night it’s unnoticeable. -Hosts: Jennifer, the co-host, was amazing the whole time. I honestly don’t know how she can be so tuned in to what’s going on without being physically on the property. You have support both locally and remotely the entire time, and I got around the clock responses all the time. -Internet: The internet is very fast and never seems to go out, despite Sayulita being a town that still has fairly unreliable network infrastructure and providers. My one caveat is that while I got solid speeds in the bedroom where the router is located, once I was out in the main areas, the connection was a little spottier. -Decor/design: the house has lots of color and tile and nice furnishings. There is tons of natural light, the main patio is great (with views of the ocean) and there are lovely lush trees everywhere. The courtyard on the way in is great. -Temperature: you can get ample cross breeze and fresh air, and the house stays fairly cool even in the day with the windows open. If you want to really cool off, the AC in both bedrooms works well. -Water: the natural water provided in big bottles is great for drinking, brushing teeth, etc. if tap water makes you nervous. -Bugs: the number of flies, ants, etc. was pretty minimal - maybe one every few days. Casa Leyenda feels very clean. That said, I did encounter about one cockroach every one to two days. My understanding is that this is fairly typical in the area, though as a city dweller I am squeamish about roaches. If you are, too, make sure to keep that in mind. It’s worth noting that the hosts sent out cleaners twice - within minutes or hours - when I mentioned roaches and said they’ll plan to fumigate afterward, too. -Security: Overall, Sayulita feels pretty safe, as does the street the house is on. The house’s setup is good - from the inside out: a safe with ample space for multiple laptops, etc that you can set the code to; locks on both the main and patio doors that you can only lock and unlock with a key; a gate with a code to get to the house; an outer gate with a code to access the property. I will note that this casa shares all the gates with the casita up the steps (same hosts), and there were several times that we returned to find one or both gates not shut, perhaps by a guest at the casita. Our house itself always stayed locked, so there was never any real issue.

Better than advertised!
Casa Leyenda was amazing, the pictures do not do it justice. Right in the center of town with ocean views. Can’t wait to visit here again!

Exceeded all Expectations!
I would buy Casa Leyenda if I could. It is very very special. This is the perfect spot to walk to the main square but not be in the loud music. You can still hear things, but not too loud. This house is like a piece of art that exceeded expectations. We typically can’t afford a stay like this but had help from a friend. We felt completely spoiled. Air conditioning, a gorgeous balcony with amazing views and a full working kitchen. Hoping to come back and stay longer

beautiful home & excellent location
Incredible views, close to town, and incredibly fast responses from the host team! Internet was also very fast and held up to 3 of us on video calls at a time. Super close to town. Bring strong footwear as the streets are cobblestone and the house is on a very steep hill. This place was great!

Highly Recommend
Casa Leyenda is absolutely charming! It’s very spacious and impeccably decorated. The traditional touches in each room were so lovely. The view from the balcony is amazing!!! The kitchen is fully stocked and the brand new fridge and stove were wonderful to use. The bed is soft & comfortable, and the loft was a great spot for reading. They even kindly let my dog Zoey stay with me, and she also loved it! Everything was perfect and very clean. The host was so quick to respond and so kind in her communication, especially when I had to leave early for a family emergency. Their graciousness went above and beyond! The only things I had minor issues with were I could not get the shower water hot enough (maybe it was just me, who knows) and if you’re pretty Covid-cautious like I am, it’s right in the center of town. I wouldn’t normally mind it, but at this time I was a little nervous. But super close to everything, including the beach! Highly recommend :)

This place is a true gem. Just a block from the plaza, it doesn’t get more convenient. Both rooms are large and tastefully decorated- beds super comfortable and wonderful bathrooms. Nothing better than this
This is my 3rd time staying at Casa Leyenda over the past 5-10 years and my first with my wife/kids. They loved it! The charming decor, comfy beds, fully equipped kitchen, great service, central near-the-plaza location, fast internet, warm showers, it is as close to perfect as you’ll find. Kids will love the loft nook/bed. Bring some ear plugs to help sleep through Sayulita’s nighttime music.

Dreaming of our next stay here
Casa Leynda was perfect! Steps from downtown and loaded with great amenities. From beach towels to a yoga mat. Nancee and David provide many thoughtful touches. The downtown noise did not bother us but if it does, they even provide earplugs! They are super quick to respond and super helpful. We would definitely stay here again!

I stayed in the 1-BR casita for the 3rd time and loved it again.
It's a great location, just off the plaza and a 7-min. walk to the main beach. The casita was very clean, comfortable and well-equipped, as always. It has a cool, sort of semi- circular, layout with floor-to-ceiling window doors on one side that provide amazing views of the ocean from almost anywhere inside. I spent a lot of time hanging out on the patio outside and enjoying the views of town and the ocean. Also a spacious rooftop deck. Would definitely stay there again.

Perfect location!
This casa is wonderfully located for those wanting to walk the city center and beach. We have stayed way up the hill several times and being able to easily stroll to the beach or dinner was a major plus. The noise could be an issue, but Im guessing only on a few select nights a year. We just happened to experience two of those nights because of the holiday weekend. Overall, awesome place, little hassle, I would recommend in the future!

Nancee and David Goodrich live in the small mountain town of Gunnison, Colorado where Nancee owns a small women's boutique and David works in the woods. They are proud parents of two girls, they have two grandkids, and love their two kitties, Nina and Noche. Sayulita was love at first sight, and they have loved making a home in the small Mexican surf town.
