Description

1 block to Plaza - 3 blocks to Beach - Excellent Internet - Private Parking

From luxury linens to richly-colored art, beauty is the defining feature of Casa Leyenda. Located one block uphill of the plaza, restaurants and the main beach can be reached in minutes. Ocean views are sweeping, from both inside the Casa as well as outside. Two air-conditioned bedrooms have king-size beds and private baths. Internet speed is unmatched, and the local team is always there for you.

❁ Excellent Fiber Internet ❁
Internet speed is the best in the area. Expect solid video conferencing and uninterrupted performance.
❁ Downtown Location ❁
Expect some nighttime noise.
❁ Steep Hill-Climb ❁
The 1.5 block walk from the Plaza is steep.

Fiber-Optic Internet:
The fiber-optic network connection at Casa Leyenda is dedicated to the Casa and is exclusive to Casa guest use only. This results in exceedingly fast and reliable internet and is unequivocally the best in the area. The property manager in Sayulita is vigilant about maintaining connectivity and speed.

Wi-Fi download / upload speeds (SpeedOf.Me):
Terrace bedroom 30 / 20 Mbps
Second bedroom 50 / 40 Mbps
Dining Living room 40 / 30 Mbps

Bedrooms:
Both (2) bedrooms are large, have air-conditioning (a/c), king-sized beds, and en-suite bathrooms. Luxury linens promise comfort, and each room is decorated with richly-colored Mexican textiles and art. The master bedroom has sweeping ocean views, and accesses the ocean-view terrace. The second bedroom has peek-a-boo ocean views; it has less direct sunlight, so perfect for sleeping.

Ocean-View Terrace:
The terrace has a view that sweeps across the Plaza and onto the ocean. It is fully furnished for dining, and has a gas grill. It is accessed via the master bedroom.

Kitchen:
The kitchen is fullly equipped, and is a beautiful place to be creative. Block-style skylights above brighten this space with filtered, natural light. A counter-top bar invites friends to sit and chat, and you’ll find high-end cookware, coffee prep, pottery dishes, and beautiful blue glassware. A shared 1/2 bath near the kitchen is conveniently located for common use.

Living area and Loft bed:
The living area has a/c, is continuous with the kitchen, and has a large dining table that accommodates 6-8 people. The couch is hand-made of solid wood, and a loft functions as an added sleeping area. The carpentry of loft - ladder, railing and shelving, is hand-done with quality wood and quality workmanship. It is a beautiful nook with a twin-size bed, and together with curtains and star-lights, it becomes a dreamy frame for any child’s imagination. A built-in fan keeps it comfortably cool. This sleeping space is accommodated by the nearby 1/2 bath.

Carport and garden:
A carport is available to park a car, or to park and charge a golf cart, and to store surfboards. The path from the carport to the house passes through the garden, which is packed with banana, papaya, heliconia of all types, exotic plants and flowers; and as a result, attracts hummingbirds, chachalaca (like a Mexican turkey), and parrots.

❁ Location: Downtown.
The Casa is located above the Plaza on Gringo Hill, which is the very steep hill directly behind the plaza. It overlooks downtown Sayulita and provides a peaceful perch. The Plaza is a 3-min walk, the main beach and surf break is another 3 minutes.
❁ Nighttime Noise:
Downtown Sayulita has a number of clubs and bars which often don’t get started until after 11 pm. Especially high activity can be expected during Christmas and Easter. The trade-off is convenience to downtown and quick beach access (5 min, 3 blocks). Closing the windows is very helpful to block noise, and we provide earplugs and white-noise machines to help out.
❁ Hill Climb:
The 1.5 block walk from the Plaza to Leyenda is very steep, so be prepared to burn calories! Ocean views are available from every room. Your hill climb pay-off.
❁ Security:
The Casa is extraordinarily safe. It is accessed through two digitally locked gates- the first enters a car port, and the second exits the garage to access the Casa and Casita.
❁ House-keeping:
There are no additional charges for cleaning, which are generally scheduled every 4 days.

❁ Property Management:
-For over 10 years Casa and Casita Leyenda have had the same same property manager with the same cleaning staff (really wonderful girls) and gardeners.
-Security is their high priority, and they have an impeccable security record.
-The property management team has a physical location at the Plaza with open hours daily. They are immediately available at all times.

The following are available to you:
Excellent Fiber-optic internet connection
Air conditioning throughout
Carport for on-site parking
Security gate
Hotel-style safe
House-keeping
Gas barbecue grill
Filtered water
Beach towels
Earplugs & White noise machines
Drip coffee maker, coffee grinder, blender, toaster

Guests have access to the entire Casa, Terrace, Garden and Car Port.
The car port entry and exterior stair is a shared entrance to both Casa Leyenda and Casita Leyenda. Casita Leyenda is located above the Casa. Parking in the car port is dedicated to the Casa, exit and entry through it is shared with Casita guests.
❁ Casita guest traffic: Guests staying in the Casita above Casa Leyenda share entrance gates and the stairs. Expect guest traffic past the Casa (stairs leading to Casita) when the Casita is occupied.
❁ Casita: If you need additional sleeping space, ask us about renting Casita Leyenda. It is a free-standing studio apartment located one flight of stairs up. It has a king-size bed and also a couch that will sleep an additional adult. It has spectacular views from the terrace and expansive roof-top deck.

Please use the contact form to get in touch with any questions or to request a reservation. A spacious studio casita is also available on the same property -View here. Or if you require more space, the studio & main home are available as a joint rental for 6-8 guests - View here.

A perfect getaway
Casa Leyenda has many great, tasteful touches to make it charming(art and architecture) and cozy (white noise machines). The view is a breathtaking treat and was more than my expectations. Also, service was quick if there were any issue, even seeking us out to make sure everything is going ok, with 2 cleanings that were included in our week stay. Would stay again in a heartbeat. Perfect for 3 people in our party with 3 bathrooms and separate sleeping areas.

Great location!!!
As has been mentioned, there is some noise from the plaza, but for me this wasn't a problem as I love nightlife. That said, if it's the sort of thing that does cause you consternation, the hosts are very helpful and they were kind enough to provide both white noise machines and earplugs. Overall, staying at Casa Leyenda was a perfect experience, and I hope to get to do so again.

Unforgettable place
The location was amazing and the Casa is well equipped and maintained. We were warned about night time noise but it wasn’t an issue for us. The management team were very attentive. We absolutely would recommend this place

Highly Recommend!
Amazing property in Sayulita, great view and a short walk to everything. Jennifer was a really helpful and communicative host and everything went super smooth. She offered to let us check out late on our last day because there were no other guests arriving. That was sooooo nice. We would definitely recommend and will hopefully stay again our next time in Sayulita

Everything was great!
Very central location perfect for exploring the town. The kitchen is well-equipped for those who want to cook. Wonderful deck overlooking ocean. Mid-stay cleaning during our week at Casa Leyenda was super appreciated given there is no dishwasher and no hot water. Easy walk to the beach. Quite loud until late at night (every night) but closing all windows and running the air conditioning blocked it out. Nicely decorated, basic home. No frills but reliable internet and the owners have a fabulous home manager who is very responsive. Felt very safe

Best place to stay in Sayulita
Casa Leyenda is absolutely gorgeous! The location cannot be beaten. The gourmet kitchen was greatly appreciated. The house is full of beautiful art work and thoughtful little touches-fresh flowers upon arrival just to name one. Brightly colored decorations and throw pillows made the house very festive. The response from property management was almost immediate. In Mexico, things happen-we lost power for about 2 hours and the host was "on it" advising it was temporary and would keep us posted while we were relaxing at the beach. This was our 9th time in Sayulita and honestly will not stay anywhere else when we return. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Loved every minute
We absolutely loved our stay at casa leyenda! Everything from check in to checkout was seamless and easy. The space itself was beautifully decorated and equipped with everything needed for an extended stay. The views are amazing as well! One thing to note is that it can be very loud on the weekends so if you are a light sleeper, i would recommend a sound machine. thank you Jenn, Nancee and David for our stay!

Nancee and David have a gorgeous home on the hillside in Sayulita. A few things I would highlight if you are considering staying here: -Location: unbelievable. You’re a two-minute walk down the hill (maybe three or four on the way up :)) from the main square and five to ten from the beach, but the hillside is on the brink of Sayulita’s jungle-like outskirts. Truly the best of both worlds. Some noise does make its way up from town, but if you close the windows at night it’s unnoticeable. -Hosts: Jennifer, the co-host, was amazing the whole time. I honestly don’t know how she can be so tuned in to what’s going on without being physically on the property. You have support both locally and remotely the entire time, and I got around the clock responses all the time. -Internet: The internet is very fast and never seems to go out, despite Sayulita being a town that still has fairly unreliable network infrastructure and providers. My one caveat is that while I got solid speeds in the bedroom where the router is located, once I was out in the main areas, the connection was a little spottier. -Decor/design: the house has lots of color and tile and nice furnishings. There is tons of natural light, the main patio is great (with views of the ocean) and there are lovely lush trees everywhere. The courtyard on the way in is great. -Temperature: you can get ample cross breeze and fresh air, and the house stays fairly cool even in the day with the windows open. If you want to really cool off, the AC in both bedrooms works well. -Water: the natural water provided in big bottles is great for drinking, brushing teeth, etc. if tap water makes you nervous. -Bugs: the number of flies, ants, etc. was pretty minimal - maybe one every few days. Casa Leyenda feels very clean. That said, I did encounter about one cockroach every one to two days. My understanding is that this is fairly typical in the area, though as a city dweller I am squeamish about roaches. If you are, too, make sure to keep that in mind. It’s worth noting that the hosts sent out cleaners twice - within minutes or hours - when I mentioned roaches and said they’ll plan to fumigate afterward, too. -Security: Overall, Sayulita feels pretty safe, as does the street the house is on. The house’s setup is good - from the inside out: a safe with ample space for multiple laptops, etc that you can set the code to; locks on both the main and patio doors that you can only lock and unlock with a key; a gate with a code to get to the house; an outer gate with a code to access the property. I will note that this casa shares all the gates with the casita up the steps (same hosts), and there were several times that we returned to find one or both gates not shut, perhaps by a guest at the casita. Our house itself always stayed locked, so there was never any real issue.

Casa Leyenda was amazing, the pictures do not do it justice. Right in the center of town with ocean views. Can’t wait to visit here again!

Nancee and David Goodrich live in the small mountain town of Gunnison, Colorado where Nancee owns a small women's boutique and David works in the woods. They are proud parents of two girls, they have two grandkids, and love their two kitties, Nina and Noche. Sayulita was love at first sight, and they have loved making a home in the small Mexican surf town.
