Leyenda is located above the central plaza on Gringo Hill, which is the very steep hill directly behind the plaza. It overlooks downtown Sayulita. The Plaza is a 3-min walk, the main beach and surf break is another 2 minutes.
NIGHTTIME NOISE & HILL CLIMB:
❁ Nighttime Noise:
Please reconsider if you'd like to avoid downtown noise at night. Leyenda is removed to a high perch above the Plaza, but the thump of Sayulita night-life floats up, especially on weekends. Expect extreme volume during festivals & holidays like Easter, Christmas & Carnival. Closing windows and running the AC is recommended to block noise, and we provide earplugs and white noise machines to help out.
❁ Hill Climb:
Please reconsider if mobility is a challenge. The one-block walk back from the Plaza is steep rugged cobblestone, and is followed by several flights of stairs.
The tradeoff is convenience to downtown and easy access to the main surf-break (literally a 3-min walk).
❁ The main beach & surf break are directly below Leyenda on the same street, just 3 blocks. No need to pack a bag for the beach. Just walk down with your board, or zip in for a quick swim. Then rinse off in the garden before heading in for breakfast. It is just easy!
❁ Restaurants, bars and cafes are right outside the gate. Taxis for extra-Sayulita trips are on the Plaza just 2 blocks away.
❁ Downtown (centered around the Plaza) is at your fingertips and is brimming with beautiful boutiques, dining experiences, and popular nightlife.
CASITA LEYENDA SPACE:
❁ Casita Leyenda is a luminous circular studio with expansive windows on all view-facing walls.
❁ The king-size bed has an ocean view, as does the couch, which easily sleeps another adult.
❁ The patio has a sweeping view over Sayulita continuing to the ocean and bay beyond. It is furnished for lounging and dining, and includes a gas grill.
❁ The Rooftop deck has the most exhilarating views. From here you can check for incoming swells and see all the way to San Pancho. During winter, you can also watch for whales. This space offers shade, and is furnished with a dining table & chairs for six, a chaise lounge and chairs designed for relaxing. It is an expansive space, and is wonderful for morning yoga, afternoon home-spa services, and sunset dinner & drinks. Yoga mats are provided.
❁ The kitchen is fully equipped with a mid-size refrigerator, oven, gas stove, microwave, water kettle, blender, toaster, drip coffee maker, stove-top espresso maker, and coffee grinder. All the essentials are there for you.
❁ Bathroom is full. Shower is hot with high pressure.
❁ Air conditioning ( (1-ton AC unit)
CASA LEYENDA SPACE:
The flat has two large bedrooms with AC, king-sized beds, and en-suite bathrooms. Luxury linens promise comfort, and each room is decorated with richly-colored Mexican textiles and art. The master bedroom has sweeping ocean views, and accesses the ocean-view terrace. The second bedroom has peek-a-boo ocean views; it has less direct sunlight, so perfect for sleeping.
❁ Ocean-View Terrace:
The terrace has a view that sweeps across the Plaza and onto the ocean. It is furnished for dining, and has a gas grill. It is accessed via the master bedroom.
The kitchen is fullly equipped, and is a beautiful place to be creative. Block-style skylights above brighten this space with filtered, natural light. A counter-top bar invites friends to sit and chat, and you’ll find high-end cookware, coffee prep, pottery dishes, and beautiful blue glassware. A shared 1/2 bath near the kitchen is conveniently located for common use.
❁ Living area:
The living area has air conditioning (3-ton AC unit) and is continuous with the kitchen. It has a large dining table that accommodates 6-8 people. The couch is hand-made of solid wood, and a loft functions as an added sleeping area.
❁ Loft bed:
The carpentry of the loft (ladder, rails and shelving) is hand-built with quality wood and quality workmanship. It is a beautiful nook with a twin-size bed. Together with curtains and star-lights, it becomes a dreamy frame for any child’s imagination. This sleeping space is accommodated by the nearby 1/2 bath.
❁ Carport and garden:
A secured carport is available to park a car or golf carts, and to store surfboards. It has an outlet for charging golf carts. The path from the carport to the house traverses a small garden, which is packed with banana, papaya, heliconia of all types, exotic plants and flowers. As a result, it attracts hummingbirds, chachalacas, and parrots.

The fiber-optic network connection at both houses is dedicated to the respective house and is exclusive to guest use only. Internet access is both fast and reliable, and is unequivocally the best in the area. The property manager in Sayulita is vigilant about maintaining connectivity and speed. She is always available in case of issues.
PRIVACY & SECURITY:
–The entire property is wholly private to you and is extraordinarily safe. It is accessed through two digitally locked gates. The first gate enters a car port, and the second exits the garage to access the Casa and Casita. A security wall prevents entry otherwise. Property management makes safety and security their highest priority.
Other things to note
– Low season:
July 1 – October 31. Low season brings heavy rains to Sayulita. It is also the hottest time of the year. Heat and thunder storms (spectacular to see) put a heavy burden on the maturing infrastructure of Sayulita. Demands on restricted resources cause water shortages and power outages. There are always work-arounds, but just be aware of a degree of unpredictability during the hot and rainy season.
– Optional house keys:
All doors have digital locks. Each door also has an additional dead bolt lock, the key for which can be found in the safe. This key is optional to use if you’d like additional security. The loss or damage of this key will require a re-keying fee of $100.
– Separate Rentals:
Casa Leyenda and Casita Leyenda are also rented separately (4-night minimum stay). Each has a dedicated listing complete with many current reviews. Casita Leyenda has access to the rooftop deck, but does not include parking.

Minimum stay: 4-nights
Extended stay discount: 10% discount for stays of 7 nights and more. 20% discount for stays of 28 nights and more.
Capacity: The house capacity and price is for 6 people, but can accommodate a maximum of 8. The extra person charge is $40/person/night for the 7th and 8th guests.
Deposit: 50% for confirmation of reservation; balance is due 45 days prior to arrival. If less than 45 days, the entire amount would be due.
No refunds offered if reservation is canceled less than 45 days prior to arrival date. Any cancellation more than 45 days prior to arrival date will be refunded less a 15% administration fee and any transfer fees.
Please be sure you're ok with our cancellation policy. We are happy to rent our vacation home to you, but we cannot also insure your travel against unexpected trip cancellations and trip interruptions. Travel is expensive and life is uncertain, we totally understand this, so we urge you to please consider protecting your travel investment.
As a courtesy, if you are not insured and find that you need to cancel dates, we are happy to do what we can to rebook your dates and then refund booked dates less fees and taxes. Remember, this would be a collaborative courtesy. Please first do what you can to limit the risk of life's uncertainty.
Please note that we don't accept alteration requests that shorten the reservation when less than 45 days from the check-in date. When less than 45 days to check-in, the listing cancelation policy applies to cancelled dates in the reservation.
