Last Sunday & Tuesday nights' storms were particularly spectacular, people were outside taking photos and on the phone to friends, "Wow did you catch that one!"
The river is now running steadily - what is the book on the one-legged pedestrian bridge lasting the summer - Calle Gaviotas has turned into a mud wrestling venue, Calle Pelicano "The New Malecon" has been dammed- just where does all that mud & sand covering Revelucion come from? - and on the north-side of the river the hillside dirt roads are all torn up, and Calle Las Palmas has as much water flowing down it as the Rio now ain't that a surprise!

The Sayulita basketball team "Los Jaibos" was formed two months ago, although there has been a desire from the current players to create such a team for a very long time. Not long ago, there was nowhere for players to practice and it seemed as though in order to join a basketball team you'd have to go to San Francisco (San Pancho.)
In May of this year a teacher at the primary school, Jose Reyes Parra, let players use the basketball court at the school after hours for practice. Since then, more and more team mates have joined including a few players from San Francisco. "Los Jaibos" now consists of 12 players in total and the team captain, Jose Luis Chavez, has signed the team up to play for the Municipal open league, which includes teams from the Bay of Banderas and Puerto Vallarta. Once a week, the team goes to Puerto Vallarta to play in a tournament which will last from now until the end of the year.
"Los Jaibos" players have mentioned that they have received a lot of support from local businesses including Don Pedros, Sayulita Investment Realty, Las Alas Blancas, Las Hamacas and Choco Banana. These sponsors have helped with the cost of uniforms and the necessary equipment in order to continue representing Sayulita in the Municipal league. The team players appreciate support from the community and they hope the town continues to encourage more activities and sports groups for people of all ages in Sayulita.
El equipo Sayulita de Baloncesto conocido como "Los Jaibos" se formo hace solo 2 meses, aunque los jugadores querían un equipo del pueblo desde hace mucho tiempo. Antes de formar el equipo, los jugadores no tenían donde practicar y parecía que la única opción para jugar era ir a San Francisco (San Pancho) para integrarse a un equipo.
En Mayo de este año uno de los maestros en la primaria, José Reyes Parra, dejo que los jugadores utilizaran la cancha en la escuela ya que estaba cerrada por la tardes. Desde entonces mas personas se han unido al equipo incluyendo jugadores de San Pancho. En la actualidad el equipo consiste en 12 jugadores que están buscando a mas personas que quieren unirse a ellos. No hay límite de edad. El Capitán del equipo, Jose Luis Chaves registro "Los Jaibos" en una liga abierta que incluye equipos de Bahía de Banderas y de Puerto Vallarta. Una vez a la semana van a Puerto Vallarta a jugar en un torneo que durara hasta finales del año.
Los jugadores de "Los Jaibos" comentan que han recibido mucho apoyo de varios negocios locales incluyendo Don Pedros, Sayulita Investment Realty, Las Alas Blancas, Las Hamacas y Choco Banana. Estos patrocinadores han ayudado a costear los uniformes y el equipo necesario para continuar representando a Sayulita en la liga municipal. Los jugadores agradecen el apoyo de la comunidad y esperan que el pueblo siga generando nuevas actividades y deportes para la gente de todas edades en Sayulita.

3. Born in Sayulita? No I was born in Villa Hidalgo. Santiago Ixcuintla Municipio. I moved to Bucerias in 1984.
3. Nació en Sayulita? No, yo nací en Villa Hidalgo, Municipio de Santiago Ixcuintla. Me mude a Bucerías en 1984.
4. Education level: I studied in Villa Hidalgo, my home town. When I studied to become a teacher I moved to Tepic to study at the Escuela Normal Superior de Nayarit. I studied Math. I am a Math teacher.

5. Family history & information? I moved to Bucerias in 1984. I have four children Rosa Jazmin (24), Gema Margarita (18), Jorge Armando (15) and Jose Alberto (15) and a grand son and we live together in Bucerias.

6. Employment/business history: I came to Bucerias to teach Math and carpentry at the Secondary School Fray Junipero Serra. Then in 2002 I became vice principal. Two years ago I got transferred to Sayulita as the Principal of the Secondary school Revolucion Mexicana.

7. One positive change you have seen in Sayulita? There have been many good changes since the Municipality changed from Compostela to Bahia de Banderas and because the arrival of foreigners to town. Now we have phone service, street lighting, cell phone service, drainage system, cobble stoned streets. Public transport was limited, now it runs all day long.

Ha habido muchos cambios buenos desde que el municipio cambio de Compostela a Bahía de Banderas y debido a la llegada de extranjeros al pueblo. Ahora tenemos servicio de teléfono, alumbrado publico, servicio de teléfono celular, sistema de drenaje, calles empedradas. 9. How do you imagine Sayulita in 10 years? I imagine Sayulita more like a small city with more cultured people. With people who care about the environment.
9. Cómo imagina Sayulita en 10 años? Me imagino Sayulita más como una ciudad pequeña con gente más culta. Con gente que se preocupa por el medio ambiente.
10. Do you have a recommendation for the people of Sayulita? Parents take good care of your kids, love them, bring them love and support that's the best nourishment for human beings. Kids are the most valued treasure for a parent.
10. Alguna recomendación o comentario que quiera hacer a la gente de Sayulita? Padres, cuiden bien a sus hijos, ámenlos, denles amor y apoyo, eso es el mejor alimento para el ser humano. Los hijos son el tesoro más valioso para el padre.
11. Other notes and/or comments: Prof. Armando is working closely with Pro Sayulita Group in making schools a better place for kids who study here in Sayulita. He has been working hard in fixing all kind of problems at the Secondary School.
