Costa Azul partners with Sayulita locals

Costa Azul is now partnering with Shelly and Josh Labovitz of Pacific Paradise Fitness, bringing yogalates, adventure fit boot camp, informative nutritional classes at the swim up pool bar, and water fit to the Costa Azul Beach Club. Group Sessions, Private Sessions and local's specials are available. See you at Costa Azul for a full body work out on the beach!.

Happy Halloween Everyone

Ten years ago, there was less than a dozen children who would make any attempt to "trick or treat" to local businesses around the Sayulita square. With the vast influence of extranjeros and some additional marketing by Commercial Mexicana, you can be assured to see hundreds of children running around the plaza this evening in a wide variety of costumes. The festivities usually start around 6:30 PM. It's a great time for everyone.

For the older tricksters, Sayulita's newest Bar Don Pato (on the plaza) is having a Halloween party with live music by Los Tikkilyches! The Buddha Bar's annual Halloween Bash starts at 7PM with DJ's Flaco and Sasquach. No cover if you are dressed in costume.

Hace diez años, hubo menos de una docena de niños que haría que cualquier intento de "trick or treat" a las empresas locales en torno a la plaza Sayulita. Con la gran influencia de extranjeros y algunos adicionales por la comercialización Comercial Mexicana, puede estar seguro de ver a cientos de niños corriendo alrededor de la plaza esta tarde en una amplia variedad de trajes. Dia de los Muertos in Sayulita--Activities in the Plaza start at 11AM Sunday

Dia de los Muertos occurs this weekend on the 1st and 2nd of November, in connection with the Catholic holy days of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day.

Traditions in both Sayulita and across Mexico include building private altars honoring the deceased, using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed, and visiting graves with these as gifts. Monday is a great day to pass by the Sayulita cemetery where you will still be able to see all the fresh flowers, renovated tombstones, and decorated areas. Most of the participating families will have returned to their homes by Monday and respectful observers will have a chance to appreciate these honored traditions.

Dia de los Muertos se produce este fin de semana en el 1er y 2do de noviembre, en relación con el santo católico días de Todos los Santos y Día de Todos los Santos.

Tradiciones en Sayulita y en todo Mexico privado incluyen la construcción de altares en honor a los difuntos, con calaveras de azúcar, maravillas, y el favorito de los alimentos y bebidas de los difuntos, y visitar las tumbas con regalos como estos. El lunes es un gran día para pasar por el cementerio de Sayulita donde podrás ver todas las flores frescas, renovadas lápidas, y las zonas decoradas. La mayoría de las familias participantes se han regresado a sus hogares el lunes y respetuosa observadores tendrán la oportunidad de apreciar estas tradiciones honrado.

High Season "officially" begins in Sayulita

With the official high season of Sayulita beginning on the 1st of November, it's clear to see more activity in town and on the beach over this past week. New and familiar faces are arriving to Sayulita and much more traffic can be seen coming and going around the main town square. Local shops that have been closed during most or parts of the summer season are re-opened and in some cases remodelled to get ready for a successful, high-volume tourist season. Sayulita café, Sayulita Fish Taco and Choco Banana have all done moderate to major renovations, including a new bar and décor in Sayulita Café and a renovated kitchen in Choco Banana to prepare them for Sayulita's busiest season. Home and villa rentals are starting to take off this month with more guest arrivals. Owners of "Casa Jacobo" Z and Terrie, say they are well-booked in rentals for this season and recommending to future guests to book well in advance. Mexico is still a prime destination for travellers and the town's charm, perfect weather and great surf make Sayulita a favourite vacation destination again this year in the 2008/2009 season.

Oficialmente la temporada alta de Sayulita empieza el 1 de Noviembre y es evidente que hay más movimiento en el pueblo y en la playa durante esta semana. Se puede ver rostros nuevos y conocidos llegando a Sayulita y hay mucho mas trafico que viene y va por la plaza en el centro del pueblo. Tiendas locales que han estado cerradas durante parte o la mayoría del verano ahora han abierto y en algunos casos están remodeladas para una temporada exitosa con mucho turismo. Sayulita Café, Sayulita Fish Taco, y Choco Banana han hecho renovaciones moderados a serios, incluyendo un nuevo bar y nueva decoración en Sayulita Café, y una cocina renovada en Choco Banana para prepararlos para la temporada mas ocupada de Sayulita. Rentas para casas y villas despegan este mes con mas llegadas. Los dueños de "Casa Jacobo" Z y Terrie dicen que su casa esta bien reservada esta temporada y están recomendando a huéspedes que vienen en el futuro que hagan sus reservaciones con anticipación. México todavía es un destino principal para viajeros y con el encanto del pueblo, el clima perfecto, y el buen surf hacen que Sayulita sea un destino favorita para vacacionistas otra vez en esta temporada de 208/2009.

2. Birthdate/age: July 14, 1944, I am 64 years old.

3. Born in Sayulita? I was born and raised in Sayulita, my parents Juan Rodriguez Avalos and Severiana Ortega, were also born here. I am the only son.
3. Nació en Sayulita? Yo nací y me crié en Sayulita, mis padres Juan Rodríguez Avalos y Severiana Ortega también nacieron aquí, yo soy hijo único.

4. Education level: I studied Elementary School here in Sayulita, one of my teachers asked my dad for permission to take me to Compostela to study Secondary school, my dad agreed and I studied first in San Juan de Abajo, and then in Compostela, where I finished Secondary. Then I started playing base ball in Compostela for a while so I didn't study high school.

5. Family history & information? I live with my wife Maura Fregoso Estrada, and my daughter Jaqueline (14), she studies secondary school at the Colegio Bucerias. I have been married for almost 31 years.

6. Employment/business history. I have a friend named Adrian Guerra, he told me several times to set a business here in Sayulita. I didn't want to do it but he forced me to. One day I came back from Patzcuaro and I saw several trucks with construction material. My wife told me "Adrian sent all that stuff for you!" So I opened my business.
6. Empleo/Negocio/Ocupación: tengo un amigo que se llama Adrian Guerra, el me dijo muchas veces que pusiera un negocio aquí en Sayulita, yo no queria pero el me obligo a hacerlo. Un dia que llegue de Patzcuaro vi muchos camiones con material de costruccion, mi esposa me dijo: adrian te mando todas esas cosas! Asi que abri me negocio.

7. One positive change you have seen in Sayulita? The economy of the town is doing better. I think everybody is doing better. If you need a job you can get a job here.
7. Algún cambio positivo que haya observado en Sayulita? La economía del pueblo es mejor. Creo que a todos les esta yendo mejor. Si necesitas un trabajo, puedes conseguir un trabajo aquí.

8. One negative change you have seen in Sayulita. Delinquency is growing in town. Unfortunately some people just come here to exploit cheap labor. They are envious and greedy.
8. Algún cambio negativo que haya observado en Sayulita. Delincuencia, es algo que esta creciendo en el pueblo. Desafortunadamente hay gente que solo viene a abusar de los que trabajan, son envidiosos, avariciosos.

9. How do you imagine Sayulita in 10 years? I think Sayulita is going to be huge, just like Puerto Vallarta is now.
9. Cómo imagina Sayulita en 10 años? Creo que Sayulita va a ser enorme, asi como lo es Puerto Vallarta ahora.

10. Do you have a recommendation for the people of Sayulita? Take good care of what you have, your family, your friends and your properties.
