Greetings 4,259 online El Sayulero readers,

Hopefully all of you are enjoying everything Sayulita and the local area has to offer this 2008/2009 season. Walking around the village and beach, one would never know the world is experiencing a global financial recession. Everyone in Sayulita is smiling from ear to ear, restaurants are busy, shop owners are happy, and rental houses are already receiving reservations for next year. Sayulita truly is a special and magical place.

Esperemos que todos ustedes están disfrutando de todo Sayulita y la zona tiene que ofrecer esta temporada 2008/2009. Pasear por el pueblo y la playa, uno nunca sabe que el mundo está experimentando una recesión económica mundial. Todos en Sayulita está sonriendo de oreja a oreja, los restaurantes están ocupados, los propietarios están contentos, y casas de alquiler ya están recibiendo reservas para el próximo año. Little Boxes in local Sayulita Stores

Funds are being raised for the local kindergarten schools through the annual King and Queen of Spring competition. It's an annual tradition that the local preschool children make donation boxes and put them around the town at the businesses. On March 15th the money is collected counted and the little girl and little boy's box containing the most money win the titles of King and Queen of Spring. Everyone in town is encouraged to deposit any extra change into these donation boxes to help purchase supplies for the preschools. The crowning of the King and Queen of spring will take place on March 19th in the town plaza.

On Saturday March 14th there will be a disco dance organized by Karina Plasencia Garza, to benefit the Bertha Von Glumer Kindergarten School. The dance will be held at the baseball field and will start at 8:00pm.

El Sábado, 14 de marzo habrá un baile de disco organizado por Karina Plasencia Garza para beneficiar el Kinder Bertha Von Glumer. El baile será en el campo de béisbol y empezara a las 8pm. Se recaudan fondos también a través el concurso anual de Rey y Reina de Primavera. Es una tradición anual donde los niños hacen cajitas de donación y las ponen en negocios locales en el pueblo. El 15 de marzo los fondos están juntados y contados y la niña y el niño que tienen las cajitas con el más dinero recaudado ganaran el titulo de Rey y Reina de Primavera.

Todos en el pueblo se animan a depositar sus monedas que sobran en las cajitas de donación para ayudar a comprar materias para los kínder. La coronación del Rey y Reina de Primavera será el 19 de Marzo en la plaza.

2. Birthdate/age: July 26th, 1974. I am 34 years old.

3. Born in Sayulita? No, I was born in Guadalajara and then my family moved to Puerto Vallarta when I was only a baby. I grew up in Puerto Vallarta. I first came to Sayulita eight years ago to work here and return to Puerto Vallarta every evening. Four years ago I decided to move my family here to Sayulita.
3. Nació en Sayulita? No, nací en Guadalajara y luego mi familia se mudo a Puerto Vallarta cuando era un bebe. Crecí en Puerto Vallarta. La primera vez que llegue a Sayulita fue hace 8 anos solo para trabajara y regresaba a vivir en Puerto Vallarta. Hace 4 anos decidí mudarme aquí a Sayulita.

4. Education level: I studied secondary school in Puerto Vallarta and then I studied carpentry at SECATUR in Puerto Vallarta.

5. Family history & information? I live in Sayulita with my wife Gabriela. I have 2 children. One is 10 years old and the other is only two years old.
5. Vive con su familia? Cuántos son? Vivo en Sayulita con mi esposa Gabriela. Tengo 2 hijos. Un hijo tiene 10 anos y el otro tiene dos.

6. What is your favorite meal to eat or prepare in Sayulita? I like seafood cocktails. There is great seafood in Sayulita.
6. Cual es tu plato favorito de comer o preparar en Sayulita? Me gustan los cócteles de mariscos. Hay buenos mariscos en Sayulita.

7. Employment/business history. I've always worked in the carpentry business. After studying in Puerto Vallarta I worked for two years in workshops and then I decided to open my own business in Vallarta. Once Vallarta started growing and became a big city I didn't like being there and I always liked Sayulita so I opened my carpentry business here.
7. Empleo/Negocio/Ocupación: Siempre he trabajado en carpintería. Después de estudiar en Puerto Vallarta trabaje 2 anos en talleres y luego decidí abrir mi propio negocio en Vallarta. Luego Puerto Vallarta se hizo ciudad y ya no me gusto estar ahí y siempre me gusto Sayulita así que abrí mi negocio de carpintería aquí.

8. What do you like best about Sayulita? I like everything about this town. The people are very friendly and it is a very safe town. There are really not that many crimes that occur here and I think it's a great place to raise kids. I'm happy my kids are growing up here in Sayulita.
8. Que cosa te gusta mas de Sayulita? Me gusta todo de este pueblo. La gente es amable y es un lugar muy seguro. No hay tantas delincuencias que ocurren aquí y creo que es un buen lugar donde criar niños. Me alegra que mi hijos están creciendo aquí en Sayulita.

9. One piece of advice for someone visiting Sayulita for the first time: I think everyone should appreciate the beauty of Sayulita. I'd recommend to someone to try surfing and experience the beautiful beach we have here. Sayulita has something very special to offer everyone.
9. Algún consejo para una persona que visita Sayulita por primera vez? Creo que todos deberían de apreciar la belleza de Sayulita. Recomendaría que todos intenten surfear y vivir la experiencia de la bonita playa que tenemos aquí. Sayulita tiene algo especial para todos.

10 If you could easily change ONE thing in Sayulita, what would it be? I don't think I would change Sayulita at all. I think it is perfect the way it is and I hope it doesn't change.
