Thanks to Groupo Pro Sayulita and their generous contributors, Sayulita now has two brand new restrooms. These restrooms are located on the outside of the sports field.
These new restrooms will benefit not just the tourist/traveler, but everyone in the area. Until now, the only facilities available were not-so-user-friendly portable toilets near the bridge.
In order to keep the restrooms clean, there will be a nominal fee of $5 pesos per usage. This will help cover the materials needed to clean as well as the maintenance to keep the immediate area clear of debris.
Grupo Pro Sayulita is currently looking for self-motivated people to open the restrooms, preferably one person in the morning and another in the afternoon, to run it as a small business. The duties would include collecting money, keeping the facilities clean and supplied with toilet paper and soap. Baños Públicos para Abrir Pronto
Gracias a Pro Groupo Sayulita y generosos contribuyentes, Sayulita tiene ahora dos nuevos baños. Estos baños están situados en el exterior del campo de deportes.
Esto beneficia no sólo a los viajeros locales, pero todos en la zona. Antes de esto, el único instalaciones no eran tan fáciles de usar letrinas portátiles o establecimientos sobre el puente.
Con el fin de mantener los baños limpios, habrá una cuota nominal de 5 pesos por el uso. Esto ayudará a sufragar los materiales necesarios para limpiar, así como el mantenimiento para mantener la zona libre de desechos.
Grupo Pro Sayulita está buscando auto motivado a la gente a abrir los baños, de preferencia uno en la mañana y uno por la tarde y ejecutarlo como un pequeño negocio. Las funciones se incluyen la recogida de dinero, mantenimiento de las instalaciones limpias y se suministra con papel higiénico y jabón. Sayulita now has a temporary lifeguard team available to help in case of an accidents or emergency on the beach. This is just the beginning of an initial effort of the Sayulita community to prevent and deal with people in need of medical assistance on the Sayulita beaches.
Feedback and ideas from the community of Sayulita are needed to create the best possible safety program available. Roberto Villavicencio, who started the volunteer lifeguard program on "Los Muertos" beach in Vallarta ten years ago, is helping us start our own program here in Sayulita. A beach safety program could provide so much more than just lifeguards for holidays only. A dedicated team of volunteers can also organize beach clean-ups and educational programs in the schools for children to learn safe swimming and tidal awareness.
The opportunity to have a response team stationed at both the north and south beaches is tremendous. We need you to join us in our efforts with any support you can give. Sayulita Salvavidas en la Playas
Hay un equipo de Guardavidas voluntarios que estan listos para ayudarte en caso de que tengas un accidente o que haya una emergencia en la playa. Éste es solo el inicio de un esfuerzo de, por y para la comunidad de Sayulita, para prevenir y atender a personas en necesidad de asistencia médica. ¡Tú los puedes llegar a necesitar algún dia!
La retroalimentación y las ideas de la comunidad de Sayulita son muy necesarias en este momento para crear el mejor programa de seguridad disponible. El Profesor Roberto Villavicencio, quien inició hace 10 años el programa de Guardavidas Voluntarios en la playa "Los Muertos" de Vallarta, nos está ayudando a iniciar nuestro propio programa aquí en Sayulita. Un programa más completo de seguridad en la playa puede darnos mucho más beneficios que solo tener Guardavidas en las vacaciones solamente. Un equipo de voluntarios comprometidos tambien puede realizar limpiezas de la playa y programas educativos para los niños de las escuelas para que aprendan a nadar con seguridad en el mar.
En este momento tambien existe una gran oportunidad para tener equipos de respuesta tanto en la playa norte, como en la sur de Sayulita. Necesitamos que te unas a nuestros esfuerzos con cualquier tipo de apoyo que puedas brindar. Semana Santa brings increased traffic and the need for additional safety awareness. As with the normal flow of visitors, spring break increases the number of cars on the road by 10-fold. According to the local authorities, in the last week more than a dozen accidents have occurred on the main roads leading into and coming from Sayulita. They strongly encourage everyone to remain calm and cool while behind the wheel.
Available to all of us is a very useful, public service agency known as the Green Angels. There job is to help stranded motorists on the road. Whether it is a flat tire, your car overheating or simply running out of gas, they are here to help you without charge. To reach them, simplydial 078 from any serviceable phone. Describe your vehicle's location, description and problem and the Green Angels will be on their way.

7. When did you first come to Sayulita? Every year since 1981, I would spend 8 months out of the year in San Francisco managing restaurants and four months in Puerto Vallarta. One day, in 1984, my son was visiting from California and we decided to take a day trip to Sayulita, where I completely fell in love with it, comparing it to California's Stinson Beach. Until I met my wife Cuca Vaca, a famous painter from Guadalajara, I had been visiting Sayulita only for afternoon trips. In 2003, my wife and I decided to move to Sayulita where we were offered a restaurant because the owners were moving to Mexico City. This killed my theory about Cuca painting for a living while I relaxed on the beach, but we accepted anyway. After running the restaurant for over a year, the owners came back and wanted to re-open. This prompted my wife and I to open The Spaghetti Factory at #35 Gaviotas, just off Calle Jose Mariscal.
7. Cuando viniste a Sayulita por primera vez? Siempre desde 1981 me gustaba estar 8 meses en San Francisco administrando restaurantes y four meses en Puerto Vallarta. Un día, en 1984, mi hijo me visito de California y decidimos hacer un viaje de un día a Sayulita, donde me enamore por completo del pueblo, comparándolo con la playa de Stinson en California. Hasta que conocí a mi ahora esposa Cuca Vaca, una famosa pintora originaria de Guadalajara, yo había estado visitando Sayulita solo durante cortos viajes por las tardes. En el 2003, nos ofrecieron a mi esposa y a mi, un restaurante porque los dueños se mudaban a la Ciudad de México. Esto mato mi teoría a cerca de Cuca pintado y yo descansando en la playa, pero de todos modos aceptamos. Después de manejar el restaurante por un año, los dueños regresaron y querían re-abrir el restaurante. Esto nos empujo a mi esposa y a mi a abrir The Spaghetti Factory en Gaviotas #35, arriba de la calle José Mariscal.
8. What do you enjoy most about Sayulita? I would have to say that the beach and the village in general. There is always something to do and it never seems over exploited. The funny thing is that when I lived in the U.S. I didn't even know my neighbor next door. Here I not only know my next door neighbors but their families and their family's family, which can be a lot of spaghetti!
8. Que es lo que mas disfrutas de Sayulita? Tendría que decir que la playa y el pueblo en general. Siempre hay algo que hacer parece que nunca es suficiente. Lo curioso de esto es que cuando yo vivía en los Estados Unidos nunca conocí a mi vecino de enseguida. Aquí, no solo conozco a mis vecinos, si no a toda su familia y la familia de sus familias, que puede ser muchísimo espagueti!
9. One negative change you have seen in Sayulita? I really don't see a negative change in Sayulita. At least not one that pops in to my mind. I try to remain a happy person and if there were something that was too negative, I probably wouldn't live here.

10. How do you imagine Sayulita in 10 years? I expect the infrastructure of the village to improve tremendously. From roads and services to schools. I imagine that in 10 years The Spaghetti Factory will be serving pizza, in addition to pasta.
