Just four months ago, in February, the ladies of Pachamama started a much needed project, Yo Amo Sayulita Limpio (I Love Sayulita Clean). “We are in love with Sayulita and we want to do something to give back to this wonderful community,” they exclaimed.

With this project, they have raised enough funds to purchase three little push-carts (carritos in Spanish) that are equipped with brooms and garbage cans. Between two daily shifts, 7am until 1pm and 1pm until 7pm, garbage in the central area is swept and collected utilizing these carritos. Therefore, these ladies are not only creating a cleaner Sayulita, they are also creating an opportunity for employment. As of now, they are employing eight people, which includes a head coordinator.

In order to continue this project, which costs approximately $40,000 pesos / week to run, the support of the Sayulita community is needed. “The most important thing is for everyone to unite. We can do beautiful things when we are united. Yo Amo Sayulita Limpio is making a huge difference, and in order to continue its success and to expand and grow to other areas of Sayulita, we need the support of everyone, including all of the homeowners. This is an invitation to others to be a part of this,” they shared.

Open your heart and see what’s best for you. If Sayulita is clean, it helps to rent your house. We all win because the town is beautiful and people want to come and surf and spend time here. We are asking for $10 pesos / day minimum donation, $20 pesos / day if your heart is big, and $30 pesos / day if you have big love for Sayulita,” they continued.

Many businesses and homeowners have already contributed to the success of Yo Amo Sayulita Limpio, some of which include the following: Sayulita LifePro Sayulita, Alas Blancas, Revolucion del Sueno, ChocoBanana, Avalos Realty, Yeikame, Sayulita Golf Car, Orangy Smoothies, The Anchor, Su Casa, Tierra Viva, Nirvanna Spa, Gusto Artisan Food Market, INO Laboratorio Gastronomico, and Villas Sayulita.

In addition to monetary donations, volunteers are also needed for tasks such as driving the collected garbage to the dump. There is also a weekly Saturday morning clean up (9am), meant not only to create a cleaner Sayulita, but also to empower the community. Meet in front of Pachamama to join in this endeavor.
