Description

Casa Sandia in Sayulita is a 2-bedroom vacation rental that brings together the best of both levels in one hillside home, with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, Monkey Mountain, and the surrounding jungle. It sits on the hill above the town square, just minutes from the beach, and combines space, privacy, and walkability, so a group trip feels easy.

The home has two levels, each with its own kitchen and bathroom, which makes it ideal for three couples or two families traveling together. Everyone has room to settle in, cook on their own schedule, and find a quiet moment, then come together for meals, sunsets from the third storey palapa, and long evenings outdoors. The bedrooms each have queen beds with fine linens and there are an additional two twin beds.

Authentic construction and classic old-world charm give Casa Sandia real character, and the open floor plan keeps it relaxed and welcoming. Ceiling fans help with the breeze, and the main level also has air conditioning.

Much of life here happens outside. With three separate patios and decks, there's always a spot to gather with the group or enjoy some solitude. Share a long lunch in one of the ample indoor and outdoor dining areas, grill dinner on the BBQ, and rinse off after the beach in the outdoor shower. The lighted pool, surrounded by lush gardens, is the heart of the house, from lazy afternoons to evening swims under the stars.

The two fully equipped kitchens make it easy to cook for a crowd or keep things simple, with a microwave, coffee maker, and blender on hand. From the decks and lookout spots throughout the casa, you can go whale watching in season and bird watching year-round.

The neighborhood is quiet and secure, but you're only minutes from the beach and town. Walk down to Sayulita's excellent restaurants, street vendors, and shops, or head to the quiet, secluded beaches within walking distance. Fill your days with surf lessons, yoga or Spanish classes, or plan a day trip to nearby estuaries and archaeological sites.

Great value, the property felt secure and I would recommend!

The host was so sweet and helpful, super prompt. The space fit our group perfectly and the pool was perfect for an afternoon cool down. I would definitely stay again! We also loved how close it was to the main circle of downtown yet tucked away in the hills just enough to be away from the hussle and bustle. We loved the rooftop terrace and it even had a peek-a-boo view of the water and a great view of the city lights at night time. Great value, the property felt secure and I would recommend!

Casa Sandia was a great place to stay for our family of four.

Casa Sandia was a great place to stay for our family of four. Our teens shared the bottom half apartment while we stayed on the upper unit. The units are separate units and are easily accessed by a set of outdoor stairs. The keys to enter the unit and locking was a tad hard to manage and you have to master it and remember your keys so that you are not locked out. The pool is small but was great for a dip after a day at the beach. The view is spectacular. Lighting at the very top patio is minimal and the staircase is a winding staircase that is narrow. Only the bottom unit has AC; however, the temperature dipped down to low 70's and with the fan, it felt good. The home is up on Gringo Hill and there is a pedestrian path which leads down to the best tacos al pastor in the city and a great bar at the bottom. It is a steep walk that is cobble stone so I would advise good walking shoes. The bottom of the path leads you into the Square. Arica, the host, was terrific and always responsive.

Hilltop Getaway

My husband an I rented the top unit for 2 months. First, can I say the weather here is fabulous in Jan/Feb. But especially here on the hill where there is a lovely breeze. We would have a standing appointment to watch the fabulous sunset from the deck. CLose to town, but a serious walk up the hill and stairs to come back. Housekeeping kept the place clean and the local management was responsive to issues or questions.

Beautiful home on top of the hill.

We enjoyed our stay at Casa Sandia. Its a peaceful sanctuary after a busy day in town and the pool is great for a late night dip. Town is a short walk down the hill however but have your hiking shoes on for the trip back up. We stayed on the upper level and enjoyed our meals and drinks on the various decks. The kitchen windows open to the deck for an open air feel that's fun for entertaining or a couples meal. The sun sets are lovely and if your lucky the full moon will rise to light your winding down after a full day of Sayulita activity.

Absolutely gorgeous house and landscaping

Absolutely gorgeous house and landscaping - we were at the pool everyday- so peaceful. The host and housekeeper were very responsive. No issues at all. We had 5 girls here and it worked out perfectly. Love that there is an included water cooler on each floor so we did not have to purchase bottled water. Some items to note (not necessarily bad): the downstairs shower did not drain quickly so 3 girls could not shower back to back without the bottom filling up w water and the house is on a hill with a pedestrian cut through to town which is extremely convenient but is a hike back up to the house for those who might not be physically able and be careful not to close the doors behind you without the keys or learn the deadbolt system. Love Sayulita and this location, would definitely stay again. Only one night could I hear the late night music from town but I had earbuds so worked out!

Great Casa!

Our family of four really enjoyed our stay in the lower unit. Excellent hilltop location over looking "downtown," amazing views from the different balconies and tastefully decorated with Mexica folklore art. Would definitely stay in Casa Sandia again

Beautiful spot!

My husband and I rented the upper floor for 5 nights. We loved spending time on the rooftop enjoying the beautiful view, as well as down in the shared pool. The house is very close to the center of Sayulita, but felt private and tucked away at the same time. We loved our stay here!

Away from the downtown din/noise hilltop dream

The owners have put a lot of consideration into comforts function and aesthetics at Casa Sandia. We have been here before and updates have occurred to make it more complete than previous visit. The separation between the two floors allows traveling with friends but retaining privacy a perfect situation for us with buds. I can imagine renting just one floor and the other floor occupied by strangers without any required interaction as the separation is done right. Shared pool but a very private setting. The town is a multi stepped walk up and down but totally doable we are in our 70s. Walk that wonderful meal off or with rented car there is a secure gated parking spot but just one, though parking at high season can be a challenge. You won’t have made a mistake to rent this special place.
