Campamento Tortuguero, or The Turtle Camp, in Sayulita, is a voluntary community organization dedicated to preserving the native sea turtles that come every year in large numbers to Sayulita’s beaches to lay their eggs. The turtle camp has many moving parts, all working toward their goal of protecting the sea turtles from poachers. Escuela Cooperativa was founded in 2017 with the mission to educate local 3-5-year-old preschool children free of cost. Located on a hilltop on the south side of Sayulita, with instruction delivered in Spanish, this tuition-free model operates fully on a donation and volunteer basis.
