Sayulita Life’s $5,000 January Donation goes to the “Conservación de Tortugas Sayulita A.C”! I had the pleasure of speaking to Ren, the program manager of the organization, as well as a devoted volunteer. She spoke to me about the importance of protecting the Olive Ridley sea turtle and creating educational programs for the local schools.  The Olive Ridley sea turtle (Tortuga Golfina) is one of the seven species of sea turtles present in México. Currently, six of the seven species are listed as vulnerable or endangered, the Olive Ridley being one of them. In the Mexican Pacific, the Olive Ridley subpopulation is…

This year the Dia de Los Muertos celebrations have brought back so much joy and excitement to Sayulita after being unable to celebrate the past 2 years due to the pandemic. The festivities came at a time when the community needed to be uplifted, just a week after being hit by a category 4 hurricane. What a welcome into high season! Dia de Los Muertos is a celebration of both life and death, it is an incredibly beautiful tradition that is held all over Mexico on the 1st and 2nd of November. The festivities are a tribute to lost loved…

The Jaguars are looking forward to attending the soccer tournament held in Mazatlan, Sinaloa. The children’s team hosted a “kermes” on the 8th of October to collect donations that will help cover all the costs associated with the tournament. The donations that they received went towards the organization of the “kermes” event.  20 businesses have already signed up to donate items such as food, clothing, and cash. At the event in November, there…

Sayulita Life’s $5000 donation will go to the Jaibitos Jr, the local junior baseball team. The donation will help buy 5 dozen new baseballs for their pitching machine which was donated a few years ago. This is very beneficial for training as it is used with a lot of repetition for the children to bat. With this donation, the baseball team will be able to continue training and competing in local events. We had the opportunity to hear from the head coach of the Jaibitos, Fernando Lopez, who told us a little about the young baseball team. Can you tell…

Sayulita Life gives back to the community every month by donating $5,000 to a local cause or charity in need. Sayulita Life has chosen Mar y Vida annual surf camp as the recipient this month. Mar y Vida is a local non-profit summer surf camp, created by local surfer Risa, Centro Creativo and Centro de reciclaje.   The organization was created 5 years ago to give back to our Sayulita community and their children. Mar y Vida is a free camp offered to a select group of around 12-15 local kids that show promise in school and their local…
