Location:
Casa Tranquila is located in Sayulita's tranquil North End, only 5 minutes from the North Beach, and right outside the hustle and bustle of downtown Sayulita. This area is a residential neighborhood with a more relaxed, yet lively, environment. While town is conveniently close, it has less traffic and noise.
Everything is easily walkable. The beach is a 5-minute walk, restaurants are 4 minutes, downtown is a 10-minute walk, and popular surf breaks are an 11-minute walk. The terrain is relatively flat; there are no hills to climb.

Sounds:
Sayulita is a heavily canopied area that is brimming with a myriad of jungle birds that seem to compete for sound. Crowing roosters are as ubiquitous as Mexican music, and construction activity is ever-present as development in Sayulita races ahead at high-speed.
--Nighttime noise at Tranquila consists of birdlife rather than nightlife. Sayulita's ubiquitous roosters and chachalacas often call well before dawn. If this type of noise tends to disrupt sleep, earplugs and/or a noise machine can really help out.
--Construction projects are active in the neighborhood and are audible at Casa Tranquila. Please see note below.

Privacy and Security:
The entire villa is wholly private to you. The house and gardens are completely enclosed with high walls creating a tropical hideaway, ensuring privacy and security. Secured parking is available during the high season, and safes are available in each bedroom. Please see note about parking during low season below.

Bedrooms:
There are three large bedrooms, all with AC, comfortable king-sized beds, and bathrooms. The master bedroom with a shared bathroom is on a separate level upstairs, together with the kitchen, living area, and ocean-view terrace (main floor). The remaining two bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms are on the first floor (ground floor), each with a private entrance from the patio, which allows you to walk directly out onto the pool and garden. If you are traveling with children, and would like to sleep more closely to them, a door connecting these two bedrooms can be unlocked and opened. Also, one of the two king beds can be split into two single beds. In a pinch, a large L-shaped couch in the living area is available to accommodate one adult, and a blow-up bed can be made available. The charge for extra persons is $40 / person / night up to 8 people total. This is mostly intended for families with children, but please ask us!!

Ocean-View Terrace, Pool Patio, and Rooftop Deck:
--The truly expansive covered terrace on the main floor has an ocean view. The walk home from the beach is flat, and yet the terrace is a beautiful perch that guarantees ocean-view sunsets every evening, and is also a wonderful place to experience the magic of dawn in Sayulita.
--The ground level has a patio, a large pool, and a unique tropical garden of exotic trees and plants, like Yuka, Noni, Lichi, Passionflower, various Haliconias, red ginger, cactus, and cooking herbs. The pool gets plenty of sun, there are hammocks to read in and games to play. These outdoor areas provide plenty of cover for shade. An outdoor shower keeps salt and sand at bay.
--The roof-top deck provides a bird's-eye perspective of Sayulita and has the most breathtaking ocean views. It is furnished with a dining table and chairs for 6. The floor space is extensive and accommodates lounging & playing, as well as physical & mental exercise. This deck has no shade yet, it has full sun exposure.

Kitchen and Living Space:
The gourmet kitchen, which opens up onto the terrace, is fully functional with modern appliances and plenty of utensils, etc. to accommodate cooking large meals for friends and family. The dishes are traditional Mexican dinnerware and the glassware is hand-blown. The interior décor of the house is unique, some of it designed and handmade locally. If streaming a movie is great family fun for you, a wall-mounted 65" 2018 model Samsung smart TV will allow you to connect to your Netflix, Amazon Prime, YouTube, and Hulu accounts. It does not have cable nor does it broadcast networks.

Fiber-optic internet:
With so many guests working remotely, we are happy to finally offer reliable and fast internet access. Download- 50 Mbps, Upload- 20 Mbps. These speeds are available in all bedrooms & living/kitchen area, as well as outside on the deck & pool patio.

Local Office:
You are not on your own if something goes wrong. The property managers have an office on the plaza, and an emergency contact number is posted inside the house. Their reputation for security is unmatched, and whether you need water refills or help with travel arrangements to and from the airport, they are always there for you.

Please use the contact form to get in touch with any questions and to request a reservation. We look forward to welcoming you to Sayulita!

Note about construction noise:
-Construction projects are active throughout Sayulita, including the North End.
-Until about 10 years ago, the North End of Sayulita bay was mostly free of construction. Its growing popularity and influx of foreign investment into the construction of high-end vacation homes has changed this. Despite growth, it remains much less crowded and much more quiet than Sayulita's south side and downtown. The walk to the center of Sayulita from the North End is only 10 minutes, and its many advantages include a tranquil environment, location close to the beach, not a lot of traffic, and no general town noise.
-A really nice essay about the types of noise you can expect in Sayulita, including construction, can be found on Sayulita Life: "Sounds of Sayulita" by David McKeagan.

Note about Swimming:
Please note that the swimming pool is unsupervised and that there are no safety fences or gates surrounding the pool. Please be very careful, especially with small children.

Note about electrical outlets:
Electrical outlets at Casa Tranquila are two-prong only (no ground). They are standard 120-volt/60-cycle current, the same as the US and Canada, so no need to bring adapters and converters.

Notes about Low Season:
Sayulita is great any time of year. But, here are a couple things that you should be aware of during low season. Low season is June 1 – October 31.
Parking during low season:
Low season brings heavy rains to Sayulita. This often washes out the unfinished road that accesses Casa Tranquila’s driveway and secured on-site parking located at the back of the property. If you plan to rent a car during low season, you will want to rent a suburban, jeep, or 4-wheel drive to access the parking space. Public street parking is available in front of the house and is easily accessible by average cars any time of year.
Power, water, and internet during low season:
In addition to rain, it is also the hottest time of the year. Heat and thunder storms (spectacular to see) put a heavy burden on the maturing infrastructure of Sayulita. Demands on restricted resources do cause water shortages, power outages, and internet connectivity issues. There are work-arounds, but just be aware of a degree of unpredictability during the hot and rainy season.

We look forward to welcoming you to Casa Tranquila. Please use the contact form for inquiries or reservations.

Can't Wait to Stay Again
Casa Tranquila was the perfect place to stay for an introduction to Sayulita. Great size for a smaller group, plenty of space to spread out. The distance from town made it easy to walk down in 5 minutes but it was far enough away from main streets to make it somewhat more quiet. Highly recommend staying here.

Perfect Location!
Would 100% recommend!! Our stay was incredibly relaxing and the space is beautiful! Clean, responsive, provided lots of recommendations, perfect location. If you are coming to Sayulita this is the spot- 2 minutes away from the beach, a short walk to town, a private and beautiful space! There were active roosters early in the morning and construction during the daytime, but it didn’t bother us during the stay!

1000/10 Would Stay Here Again
What an amazing place to stay!

I booked this trip to celebrate my 30th birthday. I have never been to Sayulita before so I was relying on the description of this rental to make sure I chose a spot that was close to downtown area and had all the amenities that I wanted. It is exactly where it says it is. Everything was about a five-10 minute walk and an even quicker one if you decide to rent a golf cart (which they recommend a spot to go) to mob around this cute little town.

Sayulita is a little hilly but this rental had one small hill that you had to walk up. After exploring the town more I realized how lucky we were to have a mostly flat commute to the heart of Sayu

The house itself was so charming and made you feel like you were at a home away from home. All the rooms basically had their own bathrooms except the room attached to the kitchen but there was a bathroom right outside the door. We slept very comfortable in the AC and the ceiling fan worked wonderfully they even added more floor fans just in case you are a hot sleeper. The towels were fully stocked for pool and the shower use. Also, Jennifer, who I mostly spoke with was very open with communication and I definitely knew that she was there to help if I needed it.

While we were there a hurricane hit in the evening. I cannot say how much I appreciate the communication I had with Jennifer during this time. She
Went above and beyond to make sure we were safe and knew there were many people in our corner. We did lose power and plumbing that evening and the day after the hurricane.

Our power never ended up coming back on even though it was predicted to be about an hour outage. because of this they offered to give us a free day because we didn’t have running water or electricity. Obviously they could’ve predicted hurricane hitting while we were staying there.

I can’t rate this rental high enough on their communication and their hospitality. Even through a hurricane everyone went above and beyond making sure we were enjoying our stay!

1000/10 would stay here again!!

We miss Casa Tranquila!
We had such a great time, we miss Casa Tranquila! It was the perfect stay. Our family of four adults stayed for 4 days. The house is close enough that we could walk into town or any of the nearby eateries. We did rent a car, only because we wanted to venture out to the nearby towns of San Pancho and Lo de Marcos. There is a good of amount of beach chairs and umbrellas that we were able to take with us to the beaches. There are also two coolers provided that we used to pack lunch to the beach. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the kitchen gadgets/pots/pans needed. There are plenty of towels provided, both for beach/pool and personal daily use. We enjoyed drinking our morning coffee on the veranda. The views from the veranda are amazing, especially at sunset! Casa Tranquila is very clean and well kept, with pool maintenance every morning. The pool by the way is excellent relaxation after a day of visiting the town etc. So many good things to say about Casa Tranquila!

Would love to come again!
Everything was exactly as described and communication with the host was exceptional. All of the shared areas are comfortable, beautiful, and just what we wanted. Even though neighbors and construction are nearby it felt like there was plenty of privacy. The bedrooms have AC which was a huge plus in July and having our own pool during the hot days was perfect. Very easy walk to restaurants and town and the beach. Would absolutely book again in the future!

Best Vacation Rental EVER
This is one of our most favorite vacation rentals that we have ever stayed in!

What we loved:
It's spacious, beautiful, and has an awesome pool with lounge chairs. We really appreciated the filtered water jugs, the cleanliness, and the AC units in the bedrooms. The upper deck view is so beautiful in the evening during sunset as there is partial ocean view - there is plenty of outdoor seating, a hammock, table and chairs to relax outside and enjoy it.

Rooms:
There are two separate rooms downstairs that have a code to get into with their own bathrooms. The downstairs rooms can join if you want it to. There is also a room upstairs and a bathroom, along with the common areas and kitchen. This is a great space for 3 couples to have their own rooms, a group of up to 6 friends, or even a family - depending on your room situation for the kids.

Other features:
There are ceiling fans inside and outside on the patio, a floor fan, plenty of towels, kitchen necessities (plates, utensils, cookware, microwave, stove/oven, coffee press & maker, huge refrigerator, etc.) There is also an outdoor shower to rinse off sand/dirt. Something we really appreciated and didn't expect, were the beach chairs & umbrellas as they were very awesome to have on hand to save us from having to rent them.

The Pool:
The pool felt amazing with the July humidity and there were plenty of lounge chairs. You will be surrounded by beautiful plants, birds, geckos and occasionally big iguanas. None of which bother you at all! It's honestly very cool to see.
Wifi:
The wifi was pretty good for the most part. We had 3 people working remotely and there were a few moments where wifi would be slow, but we were able to avoid it by making sure not everyone was on the wifi at the same time if someone had an important meeting.

Noise:
There was some construction next door that we were warned about as well as roosters across the way, but it didn't bother us at all. The wild birds were more noisy than anything else but even that wasn't bothersome. Because it's not super close to downtown, you don't hear a ton of people/road noise which is nice.

Location:
This home is very close to the beach - about a 5 minute walk and about 10 mins into the heart of downtown. Despite it not being in the middle of everything, there are still restaurants, shops, cafes, markets, etc. just minutes away.

Safety:
There are gate codes to get onto the property and even the bedrooms have either a code/key. This definitely helps make the home feel more secure.

Cons:
I think the biggest con was that there is no AC in the living room/kitchen area. This wasn't a deal breaker because we were outside most of the day, but when we tried to hangout in the living room, it was so uncomfortably hot (even in the evening). Because of how stuffy/hot it felt, we chose not to cook and didn't really get to enjoy relaxing in the evening watching a movie together. Again, not a huge deal for my group but if you are a group that plans on cooking/being in the living room - please keep in mind that there is no AC in that area, just ceiling fans and a floor fan. The fans help a bit, but its hot air circulating. To be fair, I think it also has to do with the time of year that we visited as it is not always humid, so maybe this isn't always a problem.

Communication:
I appreciated the detailed messages prior to arriving, what to expect, tips on golf cart rentals, etc. I also appreciated them checking in during our stay to make sure everything was okay.

Overall:
I have so many nice things to say about this home and our stay. Overall it was wonderful and we had such a positive experience. We would stay again and I highly recommend it to anyone who needs a spacious place with a pool.

Michael (Mgr. Jennifer) in Sayulita Mexico
Owner/Manager
Michael (Mgr. Jennifer)
Bio Please mention SayulitaLife
Immersion in all aspects of foreign cultures is my passion. My travels have taken me across the world: SE Asia, Indonesia, Central/ South America, Cuba, India and, of course, Mexico. I have travelled throughout Mexico for over 35 years, and finally (finally!!) stumbled upon Sayulita a few years back. After returning many times, I decided to put down roots, and now Casa Tranquila is my most amazing home away from home. I have surfed, skied, and scuba dived across the globe, and of all the places I have traveled, Sayulita is a stand-out. I love it for its cosmopolitan, yet small-town feel, for its tight-knit community that looks out for each other in a way that only a small town can, to say nothing of the extraordinary surfing, fishing, and stunning beaches. As someone who engages with life on as many levels as possible, this town keeps me coming back. Sayulita is not a place, it’s a way of life. I welcome you to also make Casa Tranquila your home away from home! Live life to the fullest. We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time. Enjoy!
