Large outdoor patio

Hidden among mature trees and tropical gardens is this oasis in Sayulita: Casa Duende.

Each of the three well-appointed bedrooms at Casa Duende have their own private en-suite bathrooms. The downstairs King master bedroom is equipped with A/C. A high, decorative wall blocks the view into the Casa from passersby street side, and the walls surrounding the side and back of the house ensure that the grounds are totally private.  Guests can relax on the large, ground-level patio, equipped with a stainless-steel BBQ, sink and bar/counter - plus make use of the built-in wood smoker for the fresh fish you'll get from the local fishermen.

The two upper level bedrooms have a palapa-covered patio, and overlook the gardens and neighboring trees. The doors to the kitchen and living room are completely screened and open up onto the patio for a lush view of the bouganvillas, banana trees, cactus plants and gardens. Casa Duende is a quick, level, 3-minute walk to the plaza and to Sayulita beach. There are no hills to walk, making this ideally accessible for all ages. There are stores nearby for purchasing groceries or other necessities. While there is no need for a car at Casa Duende, there is street parking should you require it.

Case Duende is in a perfect location, just up the street from Rollie's, by the "big rock" that everyone knows!  A locally run convenience store is 4 doors down, and a local neighbourhood restaurant is just past that - making both a 30 second walk.  No street noises can be heard from this oasis, and you'll delight in watching hummingbirds, dragonflies, butterflies and geckos in the gardens.  It is a nature-lovers paradise!

The kitchen is ideal for making that perfect meal, with a full-size fridge/freezer, all dishes and utensils, and gorgeous parrota wood cabinets that are fully screened for cleanliness.  Use the coffee and espresso maker in the morning, and enjoy a refreshing blender drink in the afternoon. The outdoor grill is also full-sized, with the wood smoker for that freshly-caught fish, and is complete with running water, outdoor counterspace and sink.

The immaculate tile floors throughout the entire Casa make the bedrooms warm and welcoming.  Windows open up from the upper floor to a gorgeous view of the gardens and the high ceilings and palapa roof leave all bedrooms feeling airy and bright. Full sized bathrooms are ensuite in each bedroom, and plenty of closet space is available.  All windows and doors are fully-screened.

Just follow the sidewalk for a quick, easy walk to the town square and beach.  Beach towels are offered, so there's no need to bring anything with you to the Casa, aside from a bathing suit! For those quiet nights at home, enjoy a dvd or listen to music with the ipod docking station.

With the full-size laptop safe and wireless internet, check your email from the reclining living room chair or comfy counch.

Airport transfer and tours can be arranged with seating large enough for the entire rental party.

Because of the location and setup of the house, families with children are welcome!

Beautiful gardens, beautiful home.
This is the second time we have been to Casa Duende and we just love it. It's perfect location in proximity to town, and to the beach is perfect. The property managers were very helpful in arranging our transportation to and from the airport and anything we needed. The house keepers were friendly and did an amazing job. Getting up in the morning and being able to sit out on the patio in the beautiful gardens is so peaceful. It is the perfect spot to come back to after spending the day at the beach and unwind with a glass of wine or a margarita and do a bbq. It's a great place for any couple, family or group of friends as each of the rooms have their own bathroom, so you have your own space.

Perfect Location
We had a wonderful three week stay at Casa Duende. The yard is a lush oasis away from the afternoon heat. The kids loved the outdoor area, with the local iguanas and birds. The Casa is lovely and has everything you need. We spent most of the time on the patio, with the outdoor kitchen. The best thing about Casa Duende is the location. With young kids it was perfect, a short easy walk to the beach or the plaza. It was close to everything, yet a quiet and peaceful retreat to go back to. We were 4 adults and 3 kids, and there was plenty of room for all of us. The layout of the house is great for hanging out all together, but is also has quiet spaces where you can escape to with your book and have some quiet time. It felt like home after three weeks, we didn't want to leave.... until next time!!!

My daughter, grandchildren and I spent a month at Casa Duende in Sayulita. What a perfect destination for a memorable family time! The house is beautiful with plenty of room for a family to spend time together, while having a degree of privacy. There are three bedrooms, each with their own ensuite and private entrance. My bedroom was the best in the house - the bedroom upstairs with the outdoor shower and the beautiful view out over the gardens. Some of my favorite times were early mornings, sitting in peace on the upstairs balcony, listening to the birds sing and sipping a coffee while everyone else slept.

The garden is truly spectacular; step through the front gate and you enter a very serene and private refuge. We certainly enjoyed using the huge barbecue, cooking up lots of fresh veggies, shrimp and fish.

The location is perfect - a short walk to the beach and the plaza and shops of Sayulita and a slightly longer walk through beautiful jungle scenery to Playa de los Muertos. There are tons of great restaurants around, ranging from fine-dining to great little taco stands. One doesn't have to go far to find a great coffee or a delicious margarita.

The owner has chosen a great management company to represent them; the few little problems we had were taken care of promptly. The house and gardens are kept immaculately clean.

Sayulita is a perfect, safe and friendly destination for families. The beach is good for surfers, paddleboarders or just waders and sunbathers. Our little one felt perfectly comfortable running down to the little convenience store on our street, making friends with the owner with her big smile and her willingness to use a little Spanish. Sayulita people are friendly, welcoming and helpful.

I can't imagine a more perfect place to stay than Casa Duende.

Quite a nice place
Myself and 3 friends stayed there for a week and it was a quite pleasant time. The house is great, though you will spend most of your time outside on the patio listening to the birds and checking out the landscaping. The location is just a one minute walk to the zocalo, or down to the beach. People are more than friendly in this town and there many good places to eat. Take it from me, I have been in every state in MX and spent months traveling there and this is one of the best places to go and relax and take it all in. And the fishing is really good as well.

Excellent location, comfortable and charming home in Sayulita.
We had a wonderful stay at Casa Duende. The house is beautiful, nicely equipped and decorated. All three bedrooms are comfortable, and nicely furnished. The garden is delightful and completely adds to the charm of staying at Casa Duende. We sat outside quite a bit, enjoying the birds and the beautiful plantings. A walk to town only takes a few minutes, and everyone was able to come and go to the beach and town as desired. We only needed the car if we were going out of town.
I highly recommend Casa Duende, and we hope to return next year.

Fantastic location, peaceful garden
We lived at Casa Duende for October-December which started hot (the ocean was like bathwater!) and ended almost chilly (we'd clearly acclimatized!). Sayulita started dead empty, but after November 1st it really picked up into a regular tourist town. Casa Duende is as beautiful as the pictures show, with a delightful garden where we spent most of our time when we weren't out at the beach. It's just a couple minutes walk to the south end of Sayulita's long beach, or you could stroll further down the road to los Muertes or Caracitos (the best beach in the area!).

The Casa's management company is conveniently close by, although it takes a little prodding to get their help. But probably you won't need it, because the place is well outfitted and maintained and Sayulita is a very tourist friendly town.

What you see is what you get!!!
My boyfriend and I just spent 7 days in Sayulita and it was our first time so we were a bit nervous about where we were staying/transportation to our place from the airport etc. After speaking with Joe and Carolyn, everything they had confirmed with us and told us was exactly what happened! When we got to Casa Duende it was exactly how the pictures were!! We were overly happy! It was far enough away from "The Plaza" that it was quiet at night, execpt for the amazing different sounds we don't hear in Canada!! But yet close enough to "The Plaza" and "The Beach" that its like a 5 minute walk! Perfect location! The time we went was low season, so some nights we even stayed home and cooked ourselves and watched DVDs!! The backyard is so beautiful and private that your not worried about people seeing in and you just want to relax outside!! There was only 2 of us in this house but the other 2 rooms would be perfect for family or 2 other couples!
The Property Management that deals (Primavera Rentals) with Casa Duende is absolutley amazing to deal with, very helpful and very accomedating! It was both our first time in Mexico, so we were very nervous to come and figure things out but we will definitly be back and thank Joe and Carolyn for being very helpful and honest and letting us stay in there home! It was one of our most favorite trips!

3 weeks of Duende!
Like many of us, my work life is hectic plus. Casa Duende and Sayulita was exactly what the Dr ordered.

When you stay at Duende you have access to two vacation realities. The first, the Casa itself, is a small garden of privacy and mostly tranquility. The house is lovely, really 3 whole suites, not just bedrooms. I loved the woodwork of the windows. Beautiful wood, that would be unaffordable in the US. Two kitchens, one inside, one outside; gather the best produce and catch of Mexico, stay in, cook to your full content. Eat Drink, be Merry right where you stay! With 3 weeks in Sayulita we ate over half of our meals right there on the wonderful patio, made our own Margaritas and loved every minute of it.

Step out! When you you through the gate, onto the street and take the one block walk down the hill, you are in for phase two of your stay here. A quaint little town where I felt completely safe for myself and my family. There is plenty to satisfy in Sayulita. It is both laid back and offers just enough to satisfy the needs. Yes, walking out of garden gate of Duende always struck me a little surprised. We enjoyed the garden and patio completely, coming out and into our daily town routine, was looked forward to.

Our Daily routine: Get up, hang out, make coffee and munch a little. Stroll! We love to walk and Sayulita is perfect for that! It is a very short walk to the beach, every morning would find us walking as far to the North as the beach allowed, maybe two miles each way? After 3 weeks our feet were polished by the semi course sand! On the way back we would go into town and to the bridge. Fresh produce, fish, chicken etc all right there. A full bag of whatever we chose ran between $5 and $10! fresh Mangos, veggies, plantains avocados, all the best you could ever find. Shrimp, fish of the day, etc etc. The BEST fresh chicken,,, REAL chicken! It all tasted so good,, there is no secret to being a great cook in Sayulita,,,BUY it, COOK it! Never miss the Sunset! a little Margarita buzz and a walk to the beach to watch the sun disappear over the Pacific.......DO NOT miss even one!

Dont forgot the daily stop at Sayulita Espresso or Choco Banana! The best Capuccino EVER is right here.
